Thought of the day: what would it be like if everyone had show who employed them on a little plaque outside their house? I bit like the funders logos on the last page of an academic presentation.
This came up because I was talking to a colleague about ethical funding sources and they said, “…but I can’t say anything, my household is part funded by <not awesome company>”
Just a thought experiment, not saying we should do this, but wonder if people would choose employers differently.

I have a #question for you lovely people.
I have volunteered to get involved in making a church yard better for wildlife.
There’s already log piles and an elevated pond. There are mature trees and bird/owl boxes. Digging should be avoided…
What would be the main things you would focus on doing? Minimal ongoing effort is good.
I’m thinking native #pollinator friendly plants and trying to maximise the #flower food season.
What else?

Went to the seaside for a few days. It was lovely.
I miss Devon terribly.
And then I remember the lack of opportunities and it makes me sad. I always come away from there thinking about what I could do that would make a difference and I can’t think of anything meaningful.
Anyway have some pics.

Gardening book advice wanted 👩‍🌾 📚
I’m looking for a book which clearly (but not too simplistically) outlines what plants (think veggies and fruit) should be planted when and what should be planted together as companion plants. 🫛🌽
There’s probably a word which articulates that idea more succinctly but it’s the morning and I can’t think of it.
Out of print is ok, I don’t mind hunting for it if it’s a good one! 🔍

Had a go at card weaving today. As always, when I try out something new I want to test the theory without necessarily having the right equipment. 🙃
So today I was sat on a dumbbell trying to keep the tension right, with yarn that was too thick.
Anyways, I get the theory now. And it’s good fun, but my back is so sore now!!
And yes, I need to shampoo the carpet.

For a guinea pig to be rideable, I estimate it would have to be ~2.5m long.
Your feet won’t have a lot of ground clearance, but it should be enough.
I think it would be capable of jumping 2m.
Haven’t done speed or strength calculations yet, but I’m guessing similar to an adolescent rhino.

I have a question! 🙋‍♀️
This is a question about tools 🛠️
Does a socket handle which is like a crank/winch handle exist? And does it have a special name?
I’m looking for a simple version of the one in the picture (so without the torque multiplier). Needs to be able to have standard sockets popped on the end.
Any ideas? Interweb searches haven’t brought much back, but I might just not know the name of them thing I’m looking for…

But I could never have it because the scale (city and figures) is all wrong.

“Are you us?” - I had to think about that for a bit! My brain is heading off down all the weird little rabbit holes at the moment!
Our neighbour isn’t quite like yours. She’s odder if anything. She seems to generate 0 waste. Nothing. She lives there. Goes out, comes back. Has parcels delivered. Gets Tesco groceries delivered. But her bins never get full and never get emptied.
I think she’s a spy. 🕵️‍♀️

My neighbour moved into her house over a year ago.
She has never put her bins out.

Last night I was looking at how to manage all the ends on overlay mosaic crochet. Double border was suggested.
I made a 10 st x 4 row swatch to test the double border technique.
I rage quit.

@nprofile…9n08 the doves here sit on the chimney so their cooing sounds like it’s in the living room. Reminds me of someone learning the panpipes.

It’s not super clear (my scribbles more than anything) - I can go through it if you like?

@nprofile…06c6 super! As with everything new, it’s worth doing something small to get into the swing of things. The pattern I did looked like this - but beware copying it, there are some errors in it!!!! ⚠️

Went to the garden centre today…
Every time I go there’s a new department. Today they seem to have added clothing and outdoor pool tables!
Also, we need to talk about aggregate. Two things. First, I refuse to believe that 20kg of small stones covers the same area as a 20kg bag of big stones - stop pretending that it does. Second, how much per bag???

Thank you!
I *think* this was the tutorial I looked at (linked) - it’s quite good because it shows how to secure the start and end of the rows.
You’re basically working alternating rows of colours (not carrying the other colour(s)). SC BLO unless you want the colour to “drop” to the row of the same colour below in which case it’s DC into the FL of the stitch 2 rows below. Sounds weird, but makes sense when you start!

Thank you! The texture of the crochet makes it perfect for a door mat! I’m planning my next pattern now!! 😊

I can’t find the original post that prompted me to have a go at overlay mosaic crochet, but thank you to whoever it was that wrote it.
I made a door mat! I used some Axminster carpet wool (which is super tough 💪) I had left over from a previous project. It took me a while to get my head around creating the patterns on paper, but once I had one it’s a really relaxing thing to crochet.
