If the information in books is wrong then you're reading books published by the also-ran publishers. Need to buy books by the decent publishers. McGraw Hill, Oxford University Press, Pearson etc. The publishers that care about accuracy.

That's the thing about the Internet... Things are very missable. Sites that I knew and enjoyed went away. I never felt any were essential. When I felt them missing, I realised I'd been dependent upon them and that it was therefore bad.
If the entire Internet were to shut down tomorrow then I would simply return to books for my information (most of which is wrong online anyway).

lol. Pretty much nothing because the Internet is a grossly overated plaything.

The AI generated code that I have tried never has worked. The AI generated electronic circuits don't work either. There is NOTHING AI can do that it does well. It's all a flaming joke and it's like that because the models are fed on unreliable data.

I get the absolute worst luck with relationships. I bought one of those dolls from the sex shop when I was a student. I gave her a gentle love bite and she farted and flew out the window. Well darn! I ran up and down the street looking for her but she was gone!

If I can afford one at the end of the year and I actually hand over the insane money needed then I'll have to get myself one of those mail-order brides to use it on. Last time I tried a mail order bride, I paid the money and she was mis-delivered to Cuba. The package burst open and she ran away.

I work for an organisation where there's gossip and allegations of favoritism, allegations of wage fraud, complaints of micromanagement, regular turnover of staff.
BUT.... I stay out of the breakroom, work in he field on my own or with one partner virtually all day, every day. I only go to the office to use the restroom, pick up papers etc. Many days I don't go near the office. I go from home to the job then back home. I just call in on the radio when I start and finish.

#skype I'm wondering what I can get my not technologically literate friends to use in place of Skype and whether I can get my remaining couple of dollars back that I have in credit.

Are you talking about people online or in real life?
Online, people seem to be very weird.
In real life their weirdness is more tempered by reality. That and the fact they know that if they get too mouthy, obnoxious and weird they're likely to get a knuckle sandwich.
The "fetish" sites that exist sound pretty weird. Out f of curiosity I joined one briefly and it wasn't too hard to out-weird them, proving what I've long thought - most thing online are fake.

This is why I stay OUT of the work office as much as humanly possible. I respect everybody as dedicated professionals but restrict my visits to the office to picking up and dropping off internal mail. I have the numbers of the director, deputy director and so on on my phone and can call if I have issues or questions. The rest of the time I'm out doing my job.

I found there just wasn't enough difference between the gears on the 3-speed Sturmey-Archer. There are better geared hubs that that though.
Shimano does an 8-speed internally geared hub with a built-in coaster brake.

I had that when I worked in retail many years ago. They would put the schedule up a week in advance then change it randomly. I'd never be able to plan anything.. It was miserable and it's designed to keep the workers from getting jobs elsewhere or getting second jobs. Fast food places, if you can't come in at the drop of a hat will fire you over the phone. Can't come in because you're at a funeral - sorry, you're fired.

Crikey! My parents bought a new house in 1977 and my dad still lives there. The central heating is a Trianco oil-fired boiler and it's still going strong as are all the radiators. All going on nearly 50 years now. The son of the original heating mechanic now does the maintainance.

There are a great many things America needs to do to improve itself. In global terms, the country is a baby barely out of diapers. It still believes every man for himself rather than one for all and all for one.

Or... and this is a shocking thing... Build housing that is of better quality. Most American homes are so flimsy that they're barely better than chicken sheds and blow down in a stiff breeze.

Looters will always stay behind and loot. Each hurricane gives them fresh opportunities and with zero evidence left by the hurricane, they get away free. Many will stay to protect their family heirlooms, possessions and livelihoods. As resources to leave - neighboring states provide transportation to refugee centers via their fleets of school busses. The schools turn into refugee centers.

Back when they were sold off, the Chief Officer of each board got paid about 40K a year. That was about 4 times the national average salary. Soon after privatisation they were paid in the millions. The job had not changed, just the salaries. THIS is why they need to be taken back into public ownership again.

I have never really understood marriage. As a legal entity it's dangerous in case of a breakup. It makes it expensive for both parties, As a religious concept it's utterly bogus since most couples have been living together before they get married.
I gather that Spanish ladies have the name thing sorted out though Maria Gonzaleez marries Giacomo Cassanova to become Maria Gonzalez del Cassanova so she can still get a passport as Maria Gonzalez.

I had one partner that I was always afraid of going on holiday with. Two weeks trapped in an hotel room with her was always a vile experience. Now that individual is out of my present and future I always prefer to holiday solo and never with a partner as I was used to before I met her. I still have a degree of cPTSD.

Given that government policy can control the number of migrants pretty well and given that the small number of migrants coming in each year plus the fact that a proportion of them are immediately sent back to their own country, this is just a boogeyman made up in order to conceal other things.

I was very much against all those Polytechnics and Technical colleges becoming universities. Far better to have the universities remaining academic and the others remaining practical.
I have both kinds - an HND and a BA.
Without a real world work experience element both are of lesser value. My HND had a work experience element before I started then it vanished when I got to that point.
People are questioning the ROI of further education when it comes to loans.

Before a Latvia v Scotland football match in Latvia, the Scottish supporters were all in one of the squares partying. A group of Latvian supporters tried to jump in for a fight. They were grabbed by the Scottish supporters and handed beers as the Scottish supporters took photos of the two flags together with Scottish supporters shaking the thugs hands. That killed any chance of violence and the thugs lost momentum and just joined in the party.
We need to do this with those thugs.
