RIP, HIPAA. Apparently health record security makes things harder for “AI” to slurp up, so it’s being waived in the interest of “lowering barriers to innovation”.
“A long-awaited final rule from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT eliminated 14 of 60 criteria used to certify electronic record-keeping systems sold by companies such as Epic and Oracle. Seven other criteria were substantially revised.” 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

There’s no one willing to put their name on this apparently: https://healthit.gov/about

I don’t think this is just tariffs.
If a restaurant or grocery store can’t say where the ground beef comes from, we don’t know it’s safe, because TFG did some donor a solid and allow a bunch of beef that Europe rejected as unclean into the US. I’m avoiding burgers entirely. My burger-loving family switched to *chicken* burgers. 😝

“The tear in our hull that a bunch of cargo fell out of was because we failed to avoid that reef, but since reefs are a normal part of the ocean, we didn’t *wreck* the ship, and anyway we already covered the hole, so now we just have to apologize to the people whose stuff we failed to protect and it’ll be all good.” 🙄

@nprofile…ascr Also for a whole album to listen to and get why tracks are a poor substitute for a full album experience, see if you can get hold of a cd of anything by Pink Floyd or the Alan Parsons project.

@nprofile…ascr Yes! Like real classic radio, with actual people.
I know what I like, so I mostly listen to Grateful Dead (with actual people sharing their history!), Chill, Diplo, Jazz, and Symphony. I play around with other stuff sometimes but I’m not in the car much & too cheap to pay for more than car-only access. 😉

@nprofile…ascr GenX here. Yes. Yes they did listen to that much Chicago and America.
I think the problem you’re facing is that they listened to whole albums, in sequence, and Sirius (and everything else these days) loves tracks. That’s not the way the music was meant to be listened to when it was made. Artists put a lot of thought into the order and flow, and otherwise good tracks could be left off the album for not fitting into the flow.
If Grateful Dead radio can give us lengthy pieces of Dead concerts, Sirius XM Classic Vinyl could play whole albums or at least album sides. Until they do, they can GTFO with their cynical market slicing and dicing.

@nprofile…nmr0 Right? Narrative choices are so interesting! And drive-by 💩-throwing at someone else’s figurative garden is objectively a hurtful thing that only an asshole would do.
While it can be confusing when I see a lot of people really getting into something that looks superficial to me, I’m not going to *tell* them that and be the snobby outsider yucking someone’s harmless yum. It paints a target on you for one thing, but also just why?
There are too many things to pay attention to for me to waste my attention on something I don’t enjoy that’s just out there being enjoyed by other people. If a lot of people like it, I might take a closer look to see what I missed, but if it still seems meh, why not just move along with my bad self? Why try to make it about me? That’s what these 💩-throwing non-fans are doing.
And let’s be honest, they probably just lack the imagination or empathy to see inner conflict and ways of resolving it as worth consideration and admiration. Combine that with a sense of brainwashed entitlement that EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL AT ONCE is *supposed* to be tailored to their lowest-common-denominator tastes, and you get, well, what we’ve got cohabitating with us on our suffering planet. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@nprofile…hqk5 Lovely either way, but the reverse side would snag more easily, so I’d go with the finished side and just offer peek-a-boos at the reverse.

@nprofile…dyu0 @nprofile…0evn This phrase will never not make me at least snort if not LOL or “Ha!”
When I am a demented old bag, it will still be a reliable (if by them mystifying) party trick that my minder can say “30-50 feral hogs” and I will shake and chortle and maybe double over bc I barely have stomach muscles even now.

@nprofile…nmr0 I was telling a friend the other day about my “Depression Baby” Dad, who rightly takes pride in being able to “make do” so that there’s more for others. He’s also a pack-rat who won’t throw away anything that isn’t irreparably broken, but that behavior might be in for a reevaluation in the coming years.
I guess my point is, people who frame what they have as enough to share and gather/conserve resources with an eye to how they could be useful to kith & kin as a whole (not just themselves) are going to be happier in the coming years than those who measure their value or their social status in dollars.

@nprofile…5uqu My version of this is “I don’t have to think about everything, just the next thing.” It’s very clarifying to focus just on what has to get done next; even though it involves thinking about related tasks, for me, it helps me not waste spoons spinning my wheels and just get done what I can do today.

@nprofile…mrzh Some sort of accounting thing-y would by my guess. Statically, not dynamically like an abacus, but with maybe different colored (or otherwise differentiated) hoops that go over the pegs. You could count to the 10,000’s with that.

@nprofile…fswg @nprofile…lepz I’m kinda sickened over here that this product is targeted at parents whose response to a lonely child is to give it a thing to talk to instead of, you know, talking to and comforting their child and helping them find real friends.
It panders to neglectful parenting, normalizing it. So gross.
It makes me think of those poor baby monkeys in that awful experiment, who just got a wire mother with a bottle to suck from. Since they were denied access to their actual parents, they clung when they could to a wire thing covered in fake fur like a stuffed animal, even though the experimenters didn’t feed it from that one. This was supposed to prove something extremely obvious that was somehow not “these (white male) researchers were heartless.” 🙄
And it’s actually WAY WORSE than it sounds:

@nprofile…09qx Piracy. That’s what this goon has got the United States military doing. Piracy.
I’m sorry for the people executing these orders, and I know their defense is going to be all the confusion the fascists are intentionally creating around lawful use of military, but there has to be accountability for all this.

@nprofile…n7x3 I’m admittedly naturally more aloof than most people and not a great friend (HUMA syndrome*), but if that were me and someone tried to pressure me into coming out while sick, when I was feeling better, I’d want to have a convo with that friend.
There’s the boundary issue, obviously — you declined on the basis of being symptomatic, not just a case of the yucks, as was wholly your prerogative either way — but I would also want to discuss where that came from. Does the person see me as someone who cancels a lot and they’re tired of it? Were they just really looking forward to seeing me and got clumsy in their disappointment? Did I leave them in the lurch for something to do? (It’s not clear whether this was a one-on-one dinner or a group.) Did they offer to reschedule? Or, you know, express sympathy that I’m ill and maybe ask if I needed anything or offer to hang out via Discord or whatever if they really missed me so much?
*Head Up My Ass🙄

@nprofile…n7x3 I do hope it’s not that, but while I wonder about Ariana’s judgment sometimes, I feel pretty good about Cynthia and Michelle being well-grounded.
I guess the test will be whether they stay super skinny or get back to what’s more normal for them.
I do worry that there might not be a normal for Ariana. Being immersed in that nonsense from childhood… risky.

@nprofile…n7x3 The difference between Cynthia Erivo in The Outsider (so great!) and Wicked is *stark*. She was gorgeous and healthy looking in The Outsider, but looks like a bird now. (still gorgeous, I very stan Cynthia!) I did wonder if she had felt she needed or been instructed to skinny herself because Ariana Grande is such a little stick. I didn’t notice her or Michelle Yeoh having changed much, but you’re probably right.
