It makes me think of those poor baby monkeys in that awful experiment, who just got a wire mother with a bottle to suck from. Since they were denied access to their actual parents, they clung when they could to a wire thing covered in fake fur like a stuffed animal, even though the experimenters didn’t feed it from that one. This was supposed to prove something extremely obvious that was somehow not “these (white male) researchers were heartless.” 🙄
