The Palestinians have never had a modern state. They have lived under various occupiers – including the Ottomans, the British and Israel. They were entirely excluded from the decolonisation process that followed the end of the Second World War.
They cannot be judged as having a legitimate or illegitimate state because they have no state. They need a state precisely to protect them from being oppressed, ethnically cleansed and genocided by the state representing Israelis.
The armed groups in Gaza are not a state, and neither are the so-called “moderates” in the West Bank. They are not even proper governments. They are either quislings or resistance movements fighting for their people’s liberation, a right accorded to the Palestinian people under international law. The Palestinians are fighting to have a state that represents them, to remove an occupier that abuses and murders them.

On Thursday (24 September 2026), General Nick Perry assumed command of Joint Force Command Norfolk (JFC Norfolk) in the United States. General Perry succeeds US Navy Vice Admiral Doug Perry, who led JFC Norfolk since January 2024. General Perry’s appointment marks the first time a British officer has assumed command of the headquarters. It follows the decision to strengthen European leadership across the Alliance’s command structure.
During a ceremony onboard the USS Nimitz, General Perry said: “The North Atlantic is once again a theatre of strategic competition. Every “AI” tool is missing critical features that you would need if you wanted to do real work with them. What would those look like, if they existed?
This lack of visibility means that almost all of the tools for extending the context are flying blind. Rather than responding meaningfully to a full context, everyone just kind of guesses how much state they need by guessing and trying over and over again with progressively more elaborate skill and sub-agent layouts. Even managing context compaction ends up being an advanced API-driven workflow5.
A serious product that was trying to help the user understand would not only show “available context” but explain the impact of context compactions, make it easier to see harness-generated prompts, and so on. This would be a first-class feature, combined with the aforementioned reproducibility / replay tools, would allow users to do real experiments to develop an understanding about how to make good use of the context window.
