Together with Friedrich Merz, I visited the site of the Russian drone strike on the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv. Sadly, this brutal attack claimed the lives of two people, and seven others were injured. The strike was deliberately aimed at the academy. We know for certain that it was a deliberate attack, and there is video evidence to support this. The Russian terrorists simply wanted to strike at the Academy of Sciences and destroy it. It was an absolutely horrific attack.
We appreciate that Friedrich Merz was with us here today, despite the air raid siren and the absolutely barbaric actions of our neighbors – the Russians, who have been attacking the city since this morning. This is a necessary and courageous signal from the Chancellor personally, and from all of Germany. Thank you, Friedrich.
