Back in Spain for almost a week now. A huge difference compared to Romania. At least here people are much nicer, you can go for walks in nature....etc...
But, still I feel like I am sucked into a black hole of problems. Days feel shorter and darker. Maybe because there is less light too, so literally darker as well. But time passes by so fast the older you get. And more problems the older you get.
Will try to do my best to stabilize my life and work on TROM again, but honestly it feels like endless roadblocks in my way.
Some nights I look at park4night at the places we've been to with Tortuge (the camper)...wonderful memories. That life ended up so fast and abruptly. And in such a shitty way. My dream was to go travel with Sasha with the camper, create a yearly trade-free event, write more TROM Articles, make more videos, go volunteer, have a diverse and meaningful life, for both of us. I was so close to that, then it fell off a cliff.
I am trying my best to still dream about such a lifestyle even if it is just me. But now with my father having a lot of health problems, my parents now in Spain, the future is something that scares me and I refuse to think about. For context my father had 5 strokes in 1 year. He has severe problems with understanding where things are in space, recognizing objects, difficult to orient himself....can barely speak, cannot read or write, very difficult to use his hands....basically needs constant care and my mother who is almost 70 cannot by herself take care of him. We got them to Spain, were able to rent a flat for 6 months because in Spain renting long term is a wet dream....everyone only rents for the season. Maximize the profit, of course. Bless the Trade Society.
We have a lot of plans to do and problems to solve.
I wonder how to find happiness in such a situation. And where.
At least I am lucky that the human invented world, the bullshit jobs, money, ownership, nationalities and countries,, all of that is not all it is. In fact is a simplistic and primitive world that humans have invented. I am lucky that the real reality of atoms, evolution, galaxies and quasars lets me feel part of something special and important. It would be hell on earth if all it was, was the human world.
At least this fact keeps me afloat.
Is been 3 days since I stopped taking my sleeping pills. At least that is an improvement. However I feel like I would start using them again...
Anyway, my life sucks but I have to fight to not let it suck for too long, else what's the point....will do my best to focus on TROM....videos, a new article about AI. Will try!
Rant done!

WTF Gofundme removed my fundraiser for the camper and deleted my account. They sent me a message in German that translates into:Hello,We regret to inform you that GoFundMe can no longer process donations for your account. We have removed your GoFundMe account, including all associated campaigns.
Furthermore, we have initiated refunds for all donations to your campaign that have not yet been paid out; the respective donors will receive their funds back within the next 3–7 business days.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide details regarding the reasons for this action. This measure is taken to ensure the security of our platform.
Thank you for your understanding.

Help me pay for my "tromhome" yearly insurance - gofundme.com/f/help-me-pay-for…
Every year I have to pay around 600€ for the car insurance. This car is not just a car, is my only home. Is the place from where I create all of the TROM projects. From content, to VideoNeat, TROMjaro, TROMnews, TROM.tf and many more.
See what I do here tromsite.com/ and here tiotrom.com/projects/
This past year has been an absolute nightmare for me. Health issues, my girlfriend left me, financial problems, etc.. I was able to support myself via the monthly donations I get from TROM, barely, but now being alone I cannot afford these big expenses. So I have to ask for help,
It's always like that, and I hate asking for this sort of help, but is not much I can about.
Thank you to anyone who can help out. If a miracle happens and I get more than this amount then I can fix some problems with the car, like the front suspensions that cost a lot of money (650€ ...), or buy a new window (big one) for the camper because the one I have is cracked and it rains inside of it.
At least I hope to raise the money to pay for the insurance. My savings are around 1.000 Euros (maybe) and I can pay for it from that, but then I am too close to being totally broke. I need some savings in case of emergency situations.
Ok. That's all.
I hope that if people appreciate the work I do for TROM they can help me a bit financially so I can continue, as people are the reason I can still do these things.
I appreciate it!

A few updates.
I am in Romania doing my best to solve a bunch of things and bring my parents to Spain. I had 0 time for the TROM projects. But I will try to squeeze in some the next days. I hope from November on to get back on track and continue my work...I really want to work on that AI article and make videos for TROM...I already started but life has been a total cunt the past year and it doesn't let me do anything...
But will eventually get over these problems and will be able to focus on my life and TROM.

2026-09-29 08:59:01 UTC

Next few weeks will be the hardest for me
My father had another stroke yesterday. 5th in less than a year. The situation is too critical now for my parents so tomorrow I fly from Spain to Romania to help them. My main goal is to bring them to Spain the next month because the healthcare system in Romania is a disaster in many ways.
I've been through a tsunami of problems for the past months and mentally I was in intensive care. Only the past 2-3 weeks I was able to sort my life a bit. These days I was starting to work more to make videos for Ride With Less, video scripts for a new TROM video series, work on an AI article for TROM, release a Pixelfed instance....I was really efficient and I started to like it. Here the weather is much nice, the tourists left....it was nice and peaceful.
But life is not nice and peaceful for me.
I have to interrupt my work again and my motivation and drive. For me going to Romania is a short version of Hell even if I go there willingly and not because something bad happened. I never liked it there. Is the place that made me try to kill myself in high-school. So now, all of these combined, I feel like someone woke me up and told me I have to go to prison now. Life interrupted. Life downgraded. Life fucked.
I am unsure how I will cope with the situation considering my brain is already a mess. I will do my best for my parents and especially for my mom. That's my only motivator now. She needs help so I should try to help her.
You are a tool in this system, then you retire and you are a disposable piece of meat. This is no intelligent species. You have same day deliveries for all sort of shits, products, foods....but when it comes to health is all disorganized, expensive, long waiting times....miserable experience. At least in Spain the healthcare system is trade-free and quite good so we want for my father to come here to see if they find out why he has so many strokes so often...
Life sucks for me and from my perspective. I really need to keep on listening to podcasts or lectures about the universe to keep myself distracted from the "on the ground" hell.
I swear the past year has been a unique shithole of a year. And is not done yet.
I hope to no stay there for more than 3 weeks top. I really do. And even that feels like an eternity.
Will try to survive. I really didnt want to go to romania.....but now there is no choice.
Nasty situation.
So yah, if I can work on TROM that'd be great, but for the next month idk....

Woah! You think this real?
It is!The ghosts of five supernovas haunt this extraordinary image. It was acquired at Oukaïmeden Observatory in Morocco with approximately 200 hours of observations and shows a large patch of the sky, equivalent to the area of one thousand full moons tiled together, in the constellation of Auriga (the charioteer). From left to right, the five supernova remnants visible across the field are G181.1+9.5, G182.4+4.3, G179.0+2.6, G180.0−1.7 (Sh2-240, the Spaghetti Nebula), and G178.2−4.2. They are highlighted in the annotated image, together with open cluster M37 and the Tadpole Nebula. As each explosion expanded into space, it created a growing shell of shocked gas and delicate filamentary structures shown in red (hydrogen) and blue (oxygen), respectively. These ancient stellar explosions happened independently; they are at various distances up to about several thousands of light-years away from Earth and have estimated ages up to tens of thousands of years old. Early humans may have seen them as bright new stars, fading over weeks or months.
Fuckin nuts!

I could not foresee the many negative impacts of this "AI", but I was trying to see how these tools could help us rethink education in a saner society. The capabilities of these technologies are quite here, quite now. The incentive and hype is bad.

I consider what is happening in Catalonia as an example of stage 0 Culture Cancer. Post cancerous. Localized, mostly treatable.
The Catalans are quite angry at the “outsiders” who do not put in the effort to learn Catalan, or care about the Catalan culture and community. They try to forcefully speak Catalan regardless if the others understand or not, and refuse to speak Spanish at times. They marginalize the outsiders and create a tense situation.
And the “outsiders” hate the Catalans and their “tribalistic” and rude attitudes. Or simply do not give a fuck about Catalonia in general, and whatever is happening there, making the locals even angrier at them.
The mix is anger, discomfort, separation, marginalization. From both sides.
However, this cannot be too much of a generalization. This is mostly happening in smaller villages from my knowledge, or very touristic regions.
Most people in Catalonia seem to be nice and decent people overall. Most will speak Spanish if you only know Spanish. My doctor even speaks English just to make it easier for me, even if is a bit harder for her. Granted she is not even from Catalonia. But she tries to speak Spanish, Catalan, and English.
However you do feel a tension between the Catalans and the rest.
You just feel it…

Yaay a total solar eclipse in Spain in 2026!!! Said me in 2025. Wow. We have a motorhome now we can 100% get the best spot to observe it. My telescope is finally going to be put to good use! Let's prepare, let's dream, let's get excited.
Oh shit my father has strokes. Shit my mother is crying. We struggle. The situation is very difficult physically and mentally.
I have pain. Why I have abdominal pain for so long? Doctors can't find anything wrong with me? Is it an obscure disease? Why do I take painkillers now?! Because it hurts..
Hello! Said my sister.
What?
I have this problem and looks bad.
Ok let's go check. Now let's go wait for weeks for a result while we are stressed.
Oh my parents are better. My father is stable.
Riiinggg! My girlfriend is calling.
How are you? She said.
Good, I miss you. Can't wait for you to come back from your wonderful hike in Iceland!
I'm back! I cheated on you and I want to break up with you.
Shit.
I have less abdominal pain. Uh great.
I have a lot emotional pain. I feel like dying.
My sister is bleeding. Fuck go to the ER.
My father has another stroke.
What do we do?!
My telescope rings.
Whaaat?
I can't work. I broke.
A week before the eclipse?
Yes.
Fuck!
Riiingggg!!!
Whaaaaat??
Is Tortua, the motorhome.
What now?
I have solar panels and they need certified. I cannot drive without that.
Fuck. Ok 200 euros. Certified.
Didn't work!
Whhhhhy?
You need to send those papers somewhere else. Take weeks to solve.
But the eclipse is in a week and we planned for a year now....we drive there...
I know....
Fuuuuuuck.
You got mail.
ye..?!
We noticed you like hospitals. You have 3 medical appointments this week for your abdominal pain. And your sister has some too. You go together, is hospital fun and medical results bonanza. Good luck.
Fuck.
You got mail.
What now?
Your father may need an expensive medical procedure to not have strokes. He likes strokes, he has many. Can cost thousands of euros. Do you have energy to go to Romania to help your mom?! Do you have money?!
Well...fuck. What is this life ha?! Why so many bad things happening?
The Eclipse should have been a wonderful time I spend together with Sasha and Tortuga, meet with our best friends, observe a rare event. Now I lost Sasha, I lost Tortuga, I lost my hope and trust in people, and I hope I won't lose my father.
I swallow trying not to vomit still.
I try to find solutions. We try. We are still here.
But maybe is just a stupid dream. That would make a lot more sense.

@nprofile…0v3n Yes 60.000 more exact and most returned. If you want to talk about immigration worldwide then percentage increased some 1-2% over the past decades. Not as crazy as the headlines say.Our children are becoming a minority in their own Nations this generation.
No one is a minority if you see all people as humans. Which we all are. Evolved from the same creature. Humans.
So there should be no fear from this perspective if your mind is scientific.

Is funny how a few thousand migrants, poor people, are such a scare for Europe
Maybe they should go after the millionaires and billionaires who hoard all resources, consume the most power, influence politics, and enslave so many people in Europe by holding them hostage with low wages. That's a crisis, not some poor people who seek for a better life.

Really breaks my heart to shut down our ridewithless.com website...
I thought I and Sasha can have a wonderful life together with this motorhome. Go see cool places, relax, make projects, volunteer, be humans on this planet and embrace that identity. And make some useful videos to inspire and help others.
But Sasha chose to have a different life...suddenly.
So it makes no sense to leave that website online. For now it redirects to the Peertube channel videos.trom.tf/c/ridewithless/…
And I will try to continue to make videos.
Just hard for me to cope with so much stress, trauma, and loss recently. I feel like a I have a cold that does not go away.
I wish it was last year, and we were in Picos de Europa seeing wonderful mountains and worry about where to park basically. Is hard to accept that part of your life is gone. Makes me want to crawl into a ball and disappear.
Anyway. I'll swallow problems trying not to vomit, and hope that things will get better.

2026-08-02 09:07:22 UTC

Just a recap of the past year for me since today is a 1 year anniversary.
A year ago my father started to have serious health issues. He had 3 strokes in a matter of months. He could not talk well, lost some cognitive abilities, and some motor functions.
Same time I started to have abdominal pain that only a month ago faded away. I've been to hospitals too many times. Was on painkillers for some time.
For months I lived in terror. Terror that my father would die (every time my mother called I was answering with a lump in my throat); terror for myself because my health problems were kinda mysterious.
For months I was struggling with my motivation to continue with TROM or in life. You get to notice the shitshow this society is, so for someone like me who wants to "change this world for the better" it is the most demoralizing of things.
What kept me afloat was my life with Sasha because I knew I am not alone and together we can help each other and move on. Sasha's grandma also died this period of time and she was someone who even watched our adventure videos with the motorhome. So sad about that.
For the past few months I was able to get myself back on track with TROM by releasing TROM Articles. My parents were ok and stable now. I supported Sasha to go do a hike by herself in Iceland because I care so much about her and want her to be happy. I thought she will get back and we are both charged up, happy, and ready to really live our lives.
While Sasha was in Iceland my sister got some bad news. She had some health problems that could have been terribly serious. Weeks of waiting for results....so much stress again for all of us in the family.
Sasha comes back she tells me she cheated on me and also wants to break up. The world fell apart for me that day. Next few weeks were the most horrible in my life.
I was getting ready for the eclipse in August when we meet with many wonderful friends - I was so sad Sasha won't be part of this but so happy to see my best friends. Prepared for this for almost 2 years now and the telescope decided to break after 10 years...just now...
Past week my sister had surgery and that went bad. She was bleeding a lot we had to go to the ER where we waited for 6 hours to have her fixed. It was horrible. Same day my father had the 4th stroke. He had more troubles speaking and was confused.
I failed to pass the car inspection with my motorhome (my home) for the first time in 2 years.
At times we had a wonderful time like when I went together with Sasha for 3 weeks with the motorhome. I feel like crying out of frustration when I think about those times and how they won't exist anymore.
But overall the world, for me, has been horrible. For my sister too. For my family too.
I feel like I lost my best friend and partner, and partially my father. And I am concerned for the future. Very.
I lost my hope and trust in humans. If Sasha, the most wonderful human on Earth from my perspective, could do this to me and abandon me like that, anyone can. At least that's how I feel.
I do not have something to cling on for the future, a hope, a desire, something that can pull me towards a better life. I have to create this for myself.
Next few months will be crucial for me, my sister, my parents.
But I discovered FRIENDS. So many people jumped in to help.
Thank you Roma and his parents, Natasha, Benji, Aaron, Lenka, Roko, Shas, Agata, Jeff, Yair, Alexio, Clara, Guil, Dani, Joan, Basti, Xantulon, Matthias, Sofie, Sasha's mom and everyone else who reached out to me/us and helped us so much.
And so to mention, Sasha was also there to help in case I needed help with my parents/sister. She helped me financially and said I can rely on her with any other help. Too ironic that the most awful for me is what she did to me...I'd prefer no help from her, just to not have done what she did.
Life goes on, but for the past month or so it feels like a stupid dark comedy for me. Too many bad things happening. It's going to be extremely tough the next months. For now the best is to take it day by day literally and deal with problems one at a time.
In a few days we will meet with some of our wonderful friends. Then we go see the eclipse. Then we all go back. And then the real reckoning will begin. To be able to help my parents, my sister, myself. To be able to find some hope again and accept that my life has to radically change. To find ways to support myself financially. To...to learn how to live a life that is happy and meaningful.
I hope in a year from now, August 2027, my future self will read this from a happy place and look back and think "wow what a shithole I was into back then". Please be so!
This is life...at times is going to be a horror show for us. And then it will pass. But the process is indeed terrible.
For now, let's focus on the Eclipse and will see about the rest after that. I hope no more bad news will strike us now....
We are atoms and always will be, in this form or another.

Here's something new that I learned. In Spain, and likely everywhere else:
You get sick, say you bleed abundantly from a surgery that went wrong, and you have to stay in ER for a day to have you fixed. You lose a lot of blood and need to stay at home for a few days because you cannot work.
So: stress, trauma, money spent to go to the hospital, others helping you, etc..
The hospital gives you medical leave, as is normal.
Great? No.
Guess what?
First few days you do not get paid from work. The next weeks you get 65% of the salary.
So you are fucked health wise and in this system apparently is normal to not even get paid from your job...I mean you can't fucking work even if you want to, and you can't even get any help.
I cannot work because I bleed...

Folks I am aware our Friendica instance does not work very well lately. Loads super slow or not at all at times. I know and I will try to fix it. But for the past days, on top of my issues with being dumped by my best friend, my father had the 4th stroke in 8 months and my sister had some serious health issues we stayed in ER for 10 hours yesterday.
I am very tired, very depressed, very consumed by life.
As soon as I can look into this issue with Friendica I will.

Perhaps instead of #ageverfication nonsense, those who want to protect the children should look at why these platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Youtube and the like are "bad" for the and everyone else.
Here's why:
They are TRADING PLATFORMS. Not video hosting platforms, not social networks. NO. People have to trade their attention (watch ads), data, or currency to use these platforms who make over 90% or more of their profits from these trades. Is like calling a Mall a Social Gathering Event Hall. It is not!
At least they should force these platforms to be renamed/re-labeled.
And you know what else? The harm/addiction of these platforms is not solely their incentive to make people trade more (more ads, more data trading, etc.) to keep them on the platforms is the fact that in this society pretty much everyone has a shitty meaningless life. If people were to be taken care of, and not have to trade all of their lives in a boring and stupid job, with them being worth only when they consume, then smarter and relaxed humans would give 0 fucks about these platforms.
When you are out and about, with friends, are not stressed about how to pay for your life, then why do you give much of a shit to post and scroll on these silly platforms?
How come I do not give a flying fuck about these platforms and what people post on them? Because I am busy with more relevant shit!
SO.
Wanna change something?
REPLACE.
Replace these trading platforms with trade-free ones like Friendica, Peertube and the like. If you are a government, support them!
Replace the meaningless life of most people with meaningful one. Give people their basic needs as trade-free. Via an UBI or trade-free basic services. This way you don't even have to support those trade-free platforms. People will! The same people who do it now, but who also have to struggle to have a day job in order to keep their work on these platforms going. Imagine having millions of people able to get involved and change this world!
Free people from the Trade-Society!
This way you don't even have to fight with these big corporations. Let them fade out! Let them die.

@nprofile…8wh6 Well planned obsolescence is not like they plan it for X years after which the product breaks...they add shitty parts as a normal thing and then when the products do not work, or do not work well, people are inclined to buy new ones. In any case is an absolute terrible design.

@nprofile…8wh6 hm yah is difficult to glue back that little piece of metal....but tomorrow I will try a radical thing lets see haha...I may make a video about it because it is astonishing to me to have an entire telescope dead just because of a shitty made gear that is tiny....planned obsolescence at its best I swear.

@nprofile…8wh6 Yah I found the open source project for the gear since others faced the same issue, but I also broke a little metal nob that was holding it in place....so is mission impossible even if we print the gear....it really sucks for one little plastic gear the entire telescope is bust!

2026-07-21 15:07:02 UTC

After having my Celestron SLT 130 telescope for some 10 years now, yesterday it broke. Exactly before the total solar eclipse next month...after I was preparing so much for it.
What broke? This shitty little plastic gear that got worn out over the years:
That's all. A terrible design pairing such badly made gears with metal ones. And now I cannot control the left/right movements of my telescope. And I cannot find a way to replace it. Or to buy the entire motor... Unless, maybe, I order it from USA/Canada and I pay a lot of money and may not arrive in time for the eclipse.
Hey Universe, not enough that I was already in a black hole mentally? You want more?! What else next ha?!
I give up man... :))
Fuck this shit. All of it. I wish I could sleep and just sleep. And not dream. But I can't even sleep for the past weeks. And when I do I always have nightmares.
Welcome to my downfall.
Is fine...I think I will survive. But that's the last thing I needed for the telescope to break. I also don't feel like buying a different one since it works, is just a little fucking gear/wheel....is just that I also broke something else when I opened it...so I likely need to get the entire engine for it...
I wish life was a stupid game and I can say: ok that's it, turn it off. I'll go back to the real life and not play this stupid game again.

Why trade once with currency and get it when we can add some features and you can trade monthly for a subscription, also trade your data, and maybe your attention too via ads...
So so predictable and awful!

I did not have pain, or much at all, for the past 1-2 weeks. I have no clue why, but wow life feels damn different. I will continue my medical investigations into this but the body can be such a mystery even now when we have so much technology and knowledge.
But well. Fantastic.
Soon I will meet with the most fantastic friends on Earth to see the eclipse on the 12th of August. I am focusing on organizing that. I want to make sure we can see it through my telescope, but we can also record it. This week am doing more tests. The Sun will be super low for the eclipse - 20:30 Madrid time is the full eclipse. And 21:00 is the sunset. We may miss it if we are not at the right location...
I am also focusing on promoting our latest TROM Article: Culture Cancer tromsite.com/2026/07/culture-c… on the fediverse. Maybe I will make a video about it soon, to discuss it.
I am also trying to work on new articles.
Worked on TROMjaro these days, and I would want to bring back TROMnews....because I miss that website a lot.
A lot to do, and doing these since 2007 or so. But is really hard...
Unfortunately I am doing really bad financially. No new supporters for the past month or so... tromsite.com/donate/ I have to pay for the servers, for food, for life...
The world is a stream of shit, especially online. When it takes me months to release an in-depth article about an important topic...is hard to make anyone even remember about you and your projects...
But well I am the living proof, alongside people like me, that this Trade Society is Hell on Earth and it does not matter if you do good things that hundreds of thousands of people value, or objectively your stuff is scientific and educational regardless of reach; does not matter if you try to be a good human being. You have NO VALUE in the Trade Society. You know who has value: those who trade. Sell, buy, market, compete, have a job, make money, collect data, etc..
At least that makes me feel better knowing that I am part of a lifelong experiment to prove how this Trade Society is indeed a Primitive and Harmful society.

Humans are all the same basically. It is the same lineage of evolution for the Homo Sapiens. Regardless if you see some visual traits amongst some populations, these are just visual and have nothing to do with behavior. Human behavior is created by the environment, of course. This is why a chinese baby that grows in US will emulate the American values. Or like your example if someone form Japan ends up in Congo they will talk their language and emulate their behaviors. Same for a Congolese in Japan. If you think this is not the case, you are living in a parallel reality with....reality.

Is anyone in Catalonia allowed to speak Catalan? Is any catalan discriminated against in Catalonia? What are you talking about?
If you want to make your language survive perhaps one good approach is to not marginalize those who do not speak it. Make people love your language, not hate it. I am telling you from my own experience that everyone I met coming to Catalonia from outside hates the Catalans and think the Catalans are total jerks. This is not good for anyone, no?
So you have to change your attitude. Even the fact that you write in Catalan on an English post showcases so well that you have an aggressive and unfriendly way of dealing with this subject and with people in general. If you fail to see how much of a discomfort you create by writing in Catalan on an English post, then you are of course oblivious at what is happening in Catalonia with this terrible attitude that many others also have.

By speaking only Spanish in Catalonia, you lose the essence of the local culture and fatten up the uniform mass of battered imperialist cosmopolitanism that drowns everything in uniformity.
Maybe you should read the article the snippet is from. I also talk about the Nazis. You confuse language, the tool, with those who made the language spoken by so many, via wars, colonization, influence, popularity, etc..
USA and Australia speak the same language…
Same is the case for South Africa, England, Sudan, Botswana, Nigeria, Singapore, Namibia or Ghana. And some 100 more tribes. French? Some 50 tribes speak French! The fact is that there are many tribes that speak the same language yet their cultures can be totally different.
Language does not flatten anything. You can have the same language and have wildly different cultures and ideas.

But anyway, it is just a bloody language man. Calm down. You should be more worried that all products in Catalonia are made in China, or are USA-based ones. From Whatsapp to the sweets in the stores, or the stores themselves. Products, materials, apps, software...made by a few companies mostly from the USA. Is that it or are you an imperialist who only thinks it's right to force learning the language of the empire?
I am from Romania :)) I am not that "imperialist" :D. This has nothing to do with being an "imperialist" but more so to do with "not being a jackass by refusing to use a common language to communicate". As simple as that.
I leaned English by choice. Same with Spanish kinda. It is really useful to know English considering it is the most international language on Earth and most scientific papers are written in English. Yes it ended up being like that because of a lot of influence, from force to media, but now it is what it is. Is a tool. Use it!

Snippet from Culture Cancer:
When Sasha had to take a course about protecting the marine environment in Catalonia, since she was working as a diver, all of the materials they were being provided were in Catalan. None in Spanish. Despite the fact that so many divers in this region are from outside of Catalonia and do not speak Catalan.
[Mind you Spanish is also an official language in Catalonia]
Actually half of the teachers for this course chose to only speak Catalan, despite a few students saying that they do not understand Catalan well, only Spanish.
One teacher asked if there is anyone who does not understand Catalan – Sasha and 3 others said they do not – and the teacher loudly, proudly and confidently said that is his right to speak Catalan and he will do so, albeit more slowly. As if you can slow-talk Korean to me, and I will get it, despite not understanding Korean.
The final exam was, of course, in Catalan only…
What is more important, enforcing your preferred language or protecting the environment? If that course was about protecting the environment, then that should be the most important, no?
I cannot imagine someone coming to Romania, where I am originally from, and I or others to refuse to speak a common language with them. To exclude and marginalize them. This is an awful situation that makes the marginalized ones hate on you and your language.
This situation in Catalonia made me think about Cancer. How cancer is basically normal cells going rogue. They work against the other cells and eventually the body. And we risk to do that among each other, which leads to a cancerous society that is going downhill.
But we cannot simply accuse some Catalans for being cunts with others. Cuntalans! Maybe we are the cunts, the outsiders?! Maybe there is a reason why they behave like that!

@cibersheep I would say that languages are learned by forcing them, let's see if they don't speak French in the Maghreb, Spanish in South America or English in India, because, I would say, they didn't learn them there with Duolingo because they found them interesting...
Languages yes are learned by need, force, etc.. I wrote a 600 pages book about languages tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-l… - so the Catalans want to force it then? Is that a good thing or does it even work? Because they try to do that in a region of Spain (as catalonia is now), in EU, and in a very touristic zone.... I don't see any chance you are making those poor South Americans, Romanians, Bulgarians, or the British and French tourists want to learn Catalan. Spanish, maybe....since it is useful. But Catalan, for the vast majority of people who come from outside, is not very useful at all. For better or for worse.

Ok so more Catalans who see an English post and reply only in Catalan. Proves my point in the article. You say people don't respect your language when they come to Calatonia, well do you respect my language when you comment on my english posts? No.
English and Spanish yes were imposed to many parts of the world due to those native speakers conquering those parts of the world. Same as the Catalans did with the Catalonian region that was inhabited by Muslims with their own language. Only the scale may be different, but not the scope.

The rude part is to know a common language and refuse to use it. If I do not know Catalan, only Spanish, and you know Spanish but refuse to speak Spanish to me, who is the one who is rude? Spanish, is again, one of the 3 official languages of Catalonia - and that should even be besides the point.I find this every day. I'm sorry.
So have you looked into why many people come to Catalonia, live here for many years, and do not learn Catalan? What did you find? Because I can tell you from my perspective and the people I know.
And if you can please reply in English to an English written post. This is quite unbelievable and it kinda shows why the situation with the Catalans in Catalonia is cancerous. You simply create an annoyance for both of us. Quite astonishing you decide to reply only in Catalan to an English post - you inserted yourself into "my world" and make it so hard for us to communicate. Use a common language or better not reply.

We are tired of having to explain every day why we want to live our lives in our language. For example, to people who, after 15 years, don't want to learn Catalan because they can already chat in English or Spanish.
As far as I have observed the Catalans speak Catalan with their Catalan friends and family. No one forces them to speak Spanish. All Catalans can happily live in Catalonia and speak Catalan. Why do you feel so tired? Tired of what? In Nederlands, Andorra, Moldova, Canada, and so on people are perfectly fine to speak 2 or more languages without hating on those who do not speak one or another.
The more languages you speak the better, no? Be happy you know Spanish too, which is spoken by hundreds of millions of people. Isn't that an advantage?

Idk what you mean. But the translation is correct perhaps: I will never learn Catalan just becuase you force it upon me and only talk Catalan to me.Romanian is very similar to Catalan. You can't learn Catalan if we don't speak it to you.
Again, so far it did not work on me and so many other people to speak Catalan with us and we suddenly to get in loved with the language and speak it. Doesn't work. @nprofile…mwkw The article from where the snippet is looks at why groups of people fight with other groups. I also look at the history o Catalonia, the Franco era, to understand perhaps why are the Catalans so hurt when others do not speak Catalan. If you are curious you can read the entire article.
No one forces you to speak another language now. Everyone in Catalonia is free to speak Catalan. School is primarily in Catalan. Everything else is in Catalan only or Catalan primarily. So one is stopping the Catalans from exercising their cultural traditions or anything else.
Thus being said, perhaps you should reconsider your anger since no one here wants to attack "your culture and language".
If you know a common language, you should use it. I speak english, romanian, and some spanish. If I knew Catalan I would speak Catalan.
The point is that by having this attitude towards those who do not speak Catalan, all you do is to make them angry and disgusted at your "language and culture". And this is not good for anyone.
If you wonder how come I lived in this region of Spain, Catalonia, for 15 years and I do not know Catalan, then that is a reasonable question. Just make sure you ask it to learn not to insult. So let me know if you are curious and I will explain. After all you would want to know why people like me do not speak Catalan no?
If we are both respectful we could understand each other perhaps.

@nprofile…mwkw Well Joan you reply to a post in English by writing in Catalan. How come?
If you already know English, the best is to write in English. Else communication is either impossible or difficult.
Same is true for the Catalans who know Spanish. If you already know a common official language why not use it? It is a simple question.

Snippet from Culture Cancer:
In fact I’ve been living in Catalonia for 15 years now and I noticed a concerning trend. At least from my own perspective. Despite people here knowing Spanish perfectly fine, at times they may only choose to speak Catalan with you, even when you try to speak Spanish with them.
When I was taking driving lessons and was in the car with other Catalan students, I would mention that I only understand Spanish and not Catalan. And yet they would only speak Catalan with themselves and the teacher. Marginalizing me. The teacher had to awkwardly translate from Catalan to Spanish for me, despite the fact that everyone in that car knew Spanish…So why not simply speak Spanish then!? For me is a no-brainer.
When you have to deal with the hospital here, they will always send you messages or print medical results or treatments into Catalan, despite you making them aware that you do not understand Catalan. A reminder that Spanish is also an official language in Catalonia.
It is so awkward to go into a shop, open the conversation in Spanish, and only be replied in Catalan. So they understand, but refuse to speak Spanish. By “they” I do not mean all, but a good chunk of the people I have interacted with. Granted I rarely interact with people. But still, this is something well known in Catalonia.

For the past 2 weeks, at times I wake up, and I have a split second hope that the past days were a bad dream. And then I realize. And it sucks.
To be dumped in a long term relationship without warning, is already something that is so hard to get over. For some is impossible. But if you were already struggling mentally and physically, such event can really fuck you up. On top of this, if you also have to deal with family problems of similar kind, is just maybe too much.
I just wanted to vent.
But at times I feel like suffocating. The weather for sure does not help.
Will do my best to try and keep myself going, to release the TROM Articles project today or tomorrow, to get ready for the eclipse. At times I feel very much ok, at times (triggered by other events too) I fall deep into a black hole and I feel like there is no way out.
I can't sleep that much. That also influences my mood ofc.
Anyway. The past year has be the worst year in my life. Period.
I hope time is a clever motherfucker and can fix these, or some of these things. I am here buddy, waiting for you to do the magic ;).

@nprofile…8wh6 Yah mysterious pain. But is not all gone. At times I still have some. But I feel so much better than before. Maybe we will figure out the source the next months.
My sister does not have AC unfortunately. Fortunately the building she lives in and how the apartment is placed, it does not get super hot inside. In theory from tomorrow on the weather should move from over 34 or so a day, to just under 30. So maybe it will get a bit better....

Almost no abdominal and back pain for the past 2-3 days. WOW. This is amazing, idk why but to not feel pain for the first time in 2 months, and overall in a year, is something of a life changing event. I hope it lasts...I hope. I have more appointments with specialists, but now I feel ok.
This week for sure I will release our new TROM Articles, alongside perhaps with a new video series for TROM. Eventually I want TROMcast back, and get active, get used to live on your own again. So far so good. I am making progress it seems.
Ride With Less will need a revamp a bit since I now travel alone. But well, I was doing the videos alone for the past many months anyway.
But fuck me Spain has become an oven. In the motorhome 43 degrees today. Luckily I stay at my sister's place in the daytime. And I go back at 9-10PM to the motorhome, fireup the AC, and am able to sleep.
Will make more videos for Ride With Less too.
Lots of things to do. I will be active again. Already am.

I suspect my inguinal pain is still an undetected inguinal hernia. Had ultrasound and MRI, checked by a hernia surgeon 2 times, also urologist. Had this pain for more than a year. And for the past 2 months I have it daily. If feels like you got punched in the balls kinda. Daily. Hard for me to sit down and write or do any work. I take 1 or 2 painkillers a day.
Recently red a reddit post from someone in a similar situation. Had so many tests, no hernia detected for more than a year. Finally got some new tests and new doctors and detected a hernia in the inguinal canal. Exactly where I also have pain.
Point is, even small non life threatening issues can really mess you up. From sport to sex, from sitting to walking, this pain can totally destroy you.
Am relatively ok but I do not know anymore how it is to not feel pain. Must be amazing! Cannot wait for that day!
Anyway, trying my best to release TROM Articles. Waiting for the painkiller to take effect.

I may delay the release of TROM Articles. Let's see. Today I felt very down and suffocating. At times I am ok, at times I feel like absolute shit. I guess it is normal when your best friend and partner of 7 years cheats on your and then splits ways with you, entirely unexpected, after you had a very good relationship for the past months. Also when I was already in a lot of physical and mental pain.
I guess is normal and time I hope can ease things out.
I tried today to check the article one more time and release and I could not.
This TROM Articles was about to me my "comeback" mentally, and this situation destroyed that for me. Could not have come at a worse time.
Anyway, I have to try and keep myself focused on something, to be busy, in order to not have this terrible mental state.
I don't wish to anyone to be stabbed like I was. Terrible that humans can do in relationships when they fail to communicate their frustrations. I thought our relationship was an example of how it works if you communicate, and I was totally wrong.
Ok. At least I have to vent.

2026-07-01 23:19:39 UTC

I made a blog post about my girlfriend of 7 years cheating on me and dumping me. I went through hell the first few days, feeling life suffocating. So it helped me to write that. Since then I shared some, I'd say, private stuff there. And I did not feel comfortable doing that. I made the post private. I know others may have learned from it a thing or two in regards to relationships, but I just dont feel like leaving that post public now. I feel better now and I want to leave it as private.
Helped me to write it when it happened since I was shocked at what she told me and I was emotionally destroyed.
I will keep that post as a "note" for myself.
Anyway, just in case anyone is wondering what happened to it.

@nprofile…2sdk Thank you! Yah my GP ordered a colonoscopy because who knows, this pain can come from there. Is a mystery and it affects me daily. Sucks big time. I doubt is because of my colon but I had digestive issues for many years now so a colonoscopy is a good idea anyway :D. But it totally sucks to have pain every day and not know what's the issue and how to fix. Trying to stay positive as much as I can.

I feel better now. Managed to get some rest too. If your problems are internal could be a lot more difficult than external ones. Like dealing with emotions, thoughts, depression, etc.. It is a mountain you have to climb on your own. Of course, helped by friends, but at the end of the day it depends on you.
Trying to do some tests for the eclipse. This is the Sun 1h ago:I cannot frame it all with that camera and the smallest 25mm lens with my Celestron 130SLT telescope. So I will test with my phone too, if it is no big difference I'll send the camera back.

@nprofile…2sdk Thank you so much for your words! Yes staying in touch with others helps. Actually many people contacted me already. I am so thankful for these people.
I see about your husband, yah is so awful to have pain for so long and have no answers. For now I will go along with what the doctors tell me to do. I have a few more appointments and tomorrow I go talk to my GP again. If your husband is on the fediverse maybe he can message me privately and we can let the conversation flow. Maybe I have some questions and such. Thank you so much for thinking about this!

I added this to my article tiotrom.com/2026/06/life-updat…
UPDATES 28.06.2026:
I got very little sleep these days. I talked so much with my friends about it all. I found out that everyone is deeply disappointed in this girl and that it affected not only me. This girl was a rolemodel for many others, and we all thought she is a smart and sane human who knows how to communicate and deal with these situations properly. Breaks my heart when I hear our closest friends say they lost hope because of this, because they thought is possible to have a down to earth relationship when they looked at us. Like one that you can manage in a sane way.
I woke up today at 7:30 in the most horrible way. A combination of stress and being tired. I felt like I never felt before. I felt my chest and my arms, my body were squashed, I could not move well, I was sweating like hell, I felt dizzy, confused. I was really scared I even made some noises almost like I am dying and idk what is happening. It was also because of my health issues probably, got into my head that I may have something bad.
That made me think this morning. I think these are the reasons why I got so emotionally fucked up now:
For the past 2 or so years I was in a black hole mentally, unable to see purpose in life at times. In short is because the world is a mess and idk what to do with myself in this mess. Is really hard. Was unable to do what I was doing before with TROM and such. Told her several times, even she was surprised because everyone knows me as this “continue by all means” guy. Give no fuck, make stuff, walk and talk. I never felt so bad since highschool when I tried to kill myself. So I was already in a terrible mental state.
Exactly one year ago we went through hell with my father who since then had 3 strokes. It became a nightmare for us, for the family. Dark thoughts, dark moments. Now he is stable for the past few months and that has helped a ton.
For a year now I have these health issues I was talking about. I was sent from specialist to specialist. They cannot find anything, which can be good but also bad. May be something more sinister underneath, maybe is not. But the truth is that it fucked me up mentally from time to time. Made me have dark thoughts over the past months especially. I am still booked for more tests. Is not easy to be in pain for so long and have no answers. It truly sucks and I am on painkillers daily, which also make be a bit dizzy and slow. I was already struggling to sleep and had some panic attacks from time to time.
The past weeks my sister also had to go through some very very stressful health issues that could have been very bad. Only last week we knew for sure she is relatively ok. I was basically the only one here absorbing her problem too, try to help with whatever I can. This also gave me nightmares.
Despite all that I finally managed to be ready to release something new for TROM. I am super happy with the big article I wrote about a super important subject. Was about to release this week and find happiness again. Find myself again. I was excited like I was not for the past 2 years. My father was ok, my parents were ok, my sister was ok. My health issues not ok, but at least no other issues.
So the news that I got, and the way I got it, destroyed me. I was fragile physically I think, vulnerable emotionally, and destroyed my little way out that I was waiting for so long.
She has no idea how much she fucked me up. I am doing my best to get over it. To try and focus on other things. For now I cannot stay in the motorhome anymore, I feel like suffocating. The heat also does not help at all. I am not currently feeling any motivation to go out with the motorhome or how to continue. Luckily I stay at my sister and we support each other. And I go to the pool every day.
But is fucking hard, no joke. I never was in such a fragile state before. This could have been so different. A thoughtful breakup.
I don’t want to affect her with these posts in case she reads them, but I am honestly not doing well and this helps me.

@nprofile…s4ce @nprofile…uln5 Very sad to hear. Infuriating actually.
There has to be an in depth look not only at the scale of the abuse, but why the abuse. Why are so many men especially in positions of power prone to sexually abuse women. Sure you can play the simple card of: men are born like that; they are sexual creatures, they cannot help it. But the truth must be more complex. Perhaps a society where women are sexualized so much, coupled with a boring worker life that most have, also sexually dissatisfied men, hierarchical institutions where power is given to a few at the top, etc..
It is something I want to look more in depth into. But yah, truly disappointing to see that such things happen even within these groups that are meant to help people.

@nprofile…5cha Oh I have a lot of back and leg pain for the past year and we are investigating why. Tingling, numbness, etc.. Sorry to hear that, but at least you have some answers and perhaps a solution. I was wondering how long it took the doctors to discover what was the issue? Drives me nuts we can't figure why I have these issues and I work on my computer a lot so sitting down is a "pain in the ass" almost literally :D.
Had MRI and all sorts of muscle/bone specialists looking at it. So far nothing they see.
Hope it goes well for you the surgery.

Today, north of Spain, coastline. Inside the motorhome 38.5C. A record!
The AC would not make a difference to be honest. Unless you were to stay closed in the top bed and let it run nonstop there. Luckily I went to my sister's apartment for the day.
Else I usually use the AC like this:
To blow cold air towards me and my laptop. Else you can die.
Insane temperatures these days!
