🇺🇸 US Treasury Buys Back $6 Billion in Long-Term Government Debt
• The Treasury reportedly purchased the full $6 billion of 20- to 30-year bonds it targeted, with investors offering $10.75 billion.
• The move comes one day before the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.
• The buyback is part of a regular program designed to improve liquidity in the Treasury market, not a new stimulus program.

🇺🇸 FRANKLIN TEMPLETON'S BITCOIN-ACCUMULATING ETFs EXPECTED TO LAUNCH SOON
ETF analyst Nate Geraci says Franklin Templeton's two new Bitcoin DRIP ETFs, $FBEQ and $FIBT, are nearing launch, with SEC filings listing an October 27 effective date.
The funds introduce a new approach to Bitcoin accumulation by automatically reinvesting dividends from US stocks into Bitcoin exposure rather than distributing that income to investors.
Both target roughly 95% exposure to U.S. equities and 5% to Bitcoin:
- $FBEQ: Tracks a large-cap U.S. stock index covering approximately 500 companies, with a 0.09% annual management fee.
- $FIBT: Tracks an innovation-focused index of 100 U.S. companies, with a 0.19% annual management fee.
The strategy systematically converts stock dividends into additional Bitcoin exposure while maintaining Bitcoin as a secondary portfolio allocation.
Rather than requiring investors to sell stocks or contribute new capital to accumulate Bitcoin, the ETFs effectively turn corporate dividends into a recurring source of Bitcoin demand.
The October 27 date marks the planned effectiveness of the registration, not necessarily the first day of trading.

🚨🇯🇵 JAPANESE INTERNET GIANT WARNS THE INTERNET IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE AS AI-POWERED CYBERATTACKS ESCALATE
GMO Internet has confirmed that hackers breached its Onamae Desktop Cloud service, stole customer information, and potentially compromised trading accounts.
Some customers have reported unauthorized financial transactions, while attackers are threatening further attacks involving accounts at more than 70 securities and FX firms.
The company is now seeking government intervention and promising compensation for verified trading losses.
Separately, GMO’s cybersecurity division identified the misuse of ARTEX, an autonomous AI penetration-testing tool, in attacks targeting approximately 20 Japanese companies.
GMO warns that AI has dramatically lowered the cost of cyberattacks, allowing attackers to discover vulnerabilities and launch intrusions with minimal human involvement.
The company describes the emerging threat as “AI cyber saturation attacks,” where automated attacks overwhelm defenders’ ability to respond.

LIGHTNING LABS LAUNCHES WAVELENGTH ON BITCOIN MAINNET, ENABLING AI AGENTS TO MAKE AUTONOMOUS PAYMENTS
Lightning Labs has opened Wavelength to everyone, allowing AI agents to send and receive Bitcoin payments over Lightning without human approval for each transaction.
Agents can autonomously pay for API calls, purchase data, and transact with other agents for fractions of a cent using Lightning and L402, without credit cards, accounts, or API keys.
Developers can integrate payments into apps without running Lightning nodes, managing channels, or sourcing liquidity.
The self-custodial toolkit supports independent on-chain exits, with initial limits of 300,000 sats per wallet and a 0.25% service fee on Lightning payments.
Wavelength remains in alpha, with stablecoin support planned.

🇸🇻 CMCC GLOBAL LAUNCHES TOKENIZED FUND TARGETING 8%–12% ANNUAL RETURNS IN BITCOIN
CMCC Global is tokenizing its Liberty Bitcoin Accumulation Fund under El Salvador’s digital asset framework, using Tether’s Hadron platform and Bitfinex Securities.
The fund targets 8%–12% annual returns denominated in BTC, not dollars, allowing investors to potentially grow their Bitcoin holdings without relying on BTC price appreciation.
Returns would come from market-neutral strategies, including funding-rate arbitrage and market making.
Minimum token denominations start at 0.0001 BTC, with subscriptions closing October 29.
The returns are targets, not guarantees, and investors remain exposed to fund risks and Bitcoin’s dollar price volatility.

🇺🇸 COINDESK: BITCOIN'S MIDTERM BOTTOM PATTERN MAY NOT REPEAT
Bitcoin's last three bear-market lows came about 71, 38 and 13 days after the 2014, 2018 and 2022 US midterms, CoinDesk reports.
This year's low of $57,850 came on July 1, about 125 days before the Nov. 3 vote.
By Oct. 22, Bitcoin had recovered about 40%, to roughly $81,455.
CoinDesk says Bitcoin's midterm weakness looks tied more to its own market cycles than to elections.
If the July low holds, traders waiting for a post-election bottom have already missed a 40% rebound. The vote is in 11 days.

NEW: Binance is shutting down its bitcoin mining pool on November 10, and most of the hashrate had already left.
Binance Pool directed about 26 EH/s in December, roughly 2.3% of the network, per Hashrate Index. It now sits near 9.2 EH/s, under 1%.
Remaining miners have four weeks to point their machines elsewhere.
The bigger question is where that hash lands. Foundry USA, AntPool and F2Pool already produce about 64% of blocks.
Pools choose which transactions go into blocks, so every exit narrows that choice.

BITCOIN'S HASHRATE IS UP ABOUT 1,300X SINCE 2016
The network's 7-day average hashrate has risen from about 0.78 EH/s in January 2016 to about 1,007 EH/s today, or 1 zetahash per second, across three halvings.

🇩🇪 GERMANY’S LARGEST BANK TO LAUNCH BITCOIN CUSTODY SERVICE WITHIN WEEKS
Deutsche Bank is preparing to launch its first institutional Bitcoin custody service within the next several weeks, according to comments from a senior executive published by Reuters.
Gerald Podobnik, co-head of the bank’s corporate banking division, confirmed that the service will initially launch in Germany before expanding into major Asian financial centers in 2027.
The platform will allow institutional and corporate clients to custody Bitcoin and other supported digital assets directly through Deutsche Bank.
Unlike self-custody solutions, the bank will manage clients’ private keys using dedicated security hardware, segregated storage and multiple layers of transaction authorization.
Deutsche Bank first announced the initiative in September, but has now confirmed that its launch is only weeks away, subject to the remaining regulatory process.

MSCI MOVES CLOSER TO EXCLUDING STRATEGY AND OTHER BITCOIN TREASURY COMPANIES FROM ITS GLOBAL EQUITY INDEXES
MSCI is advancing a proposed methodology that could remove Michael Saylor’s Strategy ($MSTR), Japan’s Metaplanet, and other digital asset treasury companies from its Global Investable Market Indexes.
The proposed framework would classify companies primarily engaged in accumulating financial assets as “non-operating,” making them ineligible for inclusion in major equity benchmarks.
The potential consequences are significant:
- JPMorgan estimates $2.8 billion in forced selling of MSTR shares by passive funds tracking MSCI indexes.
- Broader outflows could reach $8.8 billion if other index providers adopt similar rules.
- Strategy’s counter-analysis suggests MSCI-tracking funds hold approximately 3.1% of its outstanding shares.
A final decision is expected around October 16, with implementation potentially beginning November 30.

BREAKING: TREZOR TO TERMINATE RESELLER AUTHORIZATIONS AMID HARDWARE WALLET SUPPLY-CHAIN ATTACK CONCERNS
Trezor is significantly reducing its authorized reseller network following the recent Ledger supply-chain attack.

- Existing reseller authorizations will expire January 1, 2027.
- Affected resellers can continue selling remaining inventory through the holiday season but will receive no new stock.

FORMER CRYPTOBILIS OWNERS BREAK SILENCE ON LEDGER SUPPLY CHAIN ATTACK
CryptoBilis co-founders Arravind Prabu and Vimalatheethan have issued an official statement distancing themselves from the company’s current operations following reports of compromised Ledger devices.
According to the statement:
• CryptoBilis was acquired by new ownership earlier this year.
• Both founders stepped down and completed the operational handover in March 2026.
• Neither has had access to customer databases, order histories, backend systems, or administrative accounts since the handover.
• The acquisition agreement prohibited a joint public announcement until mid-October 2026, although suppliers had reportedly been informed of the ownership change.
• Both founders offered to provide Ledger with historical information to assist its investigation.
The statement identifies Nicholas Chang as the current person in charge of CryptoBilis.
The revelations raise further questions about the reseller’s ownership transition and the timeline of the suspected Ledger supply chain attack.

THORCHAIN VAULTS AFTER HALTING TRADING
Tether has reversed its decision to blacklist four THORChain USDT vaults on the Tron blockchain, approximately three hours after freezing $1.45 million in assets.
The affected vaults reportedly held 93% of THORChain’s Tron-based USDT liquidity, forcing the protocol to suspend trading, transaction signing and liquidity-provider operations.
THORChain co-founder Chad Barraford said the protocol received no warning or explanation from Tether before the freeze.
The four addresses were subsequently removed from the blacklist, allowing Tron trading and related operations to resume.
However, 19 other addresses reportedly blacklisted during the same operation remained frozen.
The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of Tether’s ability to freeze assets across decentralized financial infrastructure.
THORChain facilitates native Bitcoin swaps without requiring users to wrap BTC or transfer custody to a centralized exchange.
While THORChain’s validators collectively control its vaults, they cannot override restrictions imposed by centralized token issuers.
The reason for Tether’s initial action remains unclear.

HARDWARE WALLET RESELLER CRYPTOBILIS SOLD TO CHINESE NATIONAL BEFORE SUSPECTED SUPPLY CHAIN ATTACK
Newly surfaced corporate records indicate that Malaysian hardware wallet reseller CryptoBilis changed ownership, with an individual identified as Jiaming, whose registered address is in China’s Heilongjiang province, listed as holding 100% of the company’s shares as of August 3.
The company’s former co-founder has now confirmed that CryptoBilis was acquired in March, when the original owners stepped down from all operational, managerial, and administrative roles.
According to the statement, the founders have had no operational visibility since the handover, although they continued assisting with event coordination.
“We are no longer part of the company,” the former co-founder stated, urging current management to resolve the situation transparently.
The revelation comes amid an investigation into a suspected Ledger hardware wallet supply chain attack involving devices modified with hidden implants capable of stealing seed phrases.
There is currently no confirmed evidence linking CryptoBilis’ ownership change to the suspected wallet compromises.

Strategy's Oct. 5 filing puts the Q3 fair-value gain on its bitcoin at $20.91 billion, which the company stacked above Meta's latest $19 billion operating income on its own chart.
That is mark-to-market on coins it already held. BTC went from about $58,625 on June 30 to about $83,624 on Sept. 30.
Q1 and Q2 losses of $14.46 billion and $8.32 billion still leave it about $1.87 billion underwater on digital assets for 2026.
The treasury now sits at 848,000 BTC.

U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp in Trenton imposed the term on September 28 after an April guilty plea.

IMF APPROVES $138 MILLION FOR EL SALVADOR DESPITE BITCOIN BREACH
The IMF approved a $138 million disbursement to El Salvador after completing two reviews of its $1.4 billion lending program.
El Salvador failed to meet certain performance criteria related to Bitcoin accumulation, but the IMF granted waivers based on corrective measures and renewed commitments.
Under the program, El Salvador is expected to continue unwinding state involvement in Bitcoin. Majority ownership and control of the Chivo wallet has been transferred to a private operator, remaining public-sector exposure is expected to be unwound, and no further government Bitcoin accumulation is envisaged beyond documented donations.
The IMF is also calling for greater disclosure of public-sector Bitcoin holdings and tighter regulation, supervision and governance of crypto-asset providers.

BTCNOW LAUNCHES “PAY-OVER-TIME” BITCOIN PURCHASES WITH 60 MONTHLY PAYMENTS
BTCNow has launched a new model allowing customers to lock in a Bitcoin purchase at today’s price while paying for it over five years.
Unlike dollar-cost averaging, the Bitcoin price is fixed when the purchase is made rather than changing with each monthly payment.
The company says:
• Payments are spread across 60 fixed monthly installments
• Bitcoin is held in trust until fully paid
• BitGo provides custody
• There are no margin calls or forced liquidations from BTC price declines
• A U.S.-wide rollout is planned over the coming months
The model effectively brings “buy now, pay later” financing to Bitcoin, allowing customers to secure BTC upfront without paying the full purchase amount on day one.

JPMORGAN: BITCOIN NEAR $85,000 COULD REDUCE MINER SELLING PRESSURE
JPMorgan says Bitcoin trading near its estimated $85,000 average production cost could provide relief to miners and reduce the risk of forced selling.
Bitcoin spent 280 days below the bank’s estimated production cost, pressuring higher-cost miners to shut down machines, sell older rigs and seek cheaper electricity.
The bank says a sustained move above $85,000 would improve the backdrop for miners and further reduce forced selling pressure.

The Swiss Federal Council is moving to create a standalone federal cybersecurity law, explicitly citing open-source software as an area that could receive a more comprehensive regulatory approach.

BLOCK JOINS x402 FOUNDATION, BRINGS BITCOIN LIGHTNING TO AI AGENT PAYMENTS
Block has joined the x402 Foundation and contributed Bitcoin Lightning support to the open payment standard for AI agents.
x402 embeds payments directly into HTTP, allowing AI agents to autonomously pay for goods, services and other agentic tools.
Block says Lightning is suited for the billions of instant, low-cost, small payments expected to emerge from the agentic economy.

Wallets holding 100 to 1,000 BTC have added 113,950 BTC since July 15, according to Santiment.
About 18,205 of those wallets now hold 5,243,253 BTC, roughly 26.1% of circulating supply.
The same cohort added 222,756 BTC over the past year.
They distributed about 77,800 BTC around July 19, then came back after the late-July Coldcard shock.
That band is mid-tier size, not proof the coins sit with institutions, but it is a thick transfer into a supply cluster that already holds more than a quarter of bitcoin.

X SUES BITCOIN INFLUENCER OVER ALLEGED £207,000 ENGAGEMENT FRAUD SCHEME
X has sued the operators behind @Vivek4real_ and a network of Bitcoin and crypto accounts, alleging they manipulated engagement to fraudulently extract more than £207,000 from its creator revenue-sharing program.
The lawsuit names @Vivek4real_, @Bitcoin_Teddy, @saylordocs, @TrendingBitcoin, @Kalshibacktest and @PolyBackTest among the accounts allegedly operated as a coordinated network.
X claims the accounts repeatedly liked, reposted and engaged with one another, published identical or near-identical content, and used a web of financial accounts to conceal their connections.
The company alleges @Vivek4real_ was also used to offer paid engagement-manipulation services to third parties and solicit additional high-follower accounts into the operation.
X suspended the accounts on August 18 and is now seeking to recover the allegedly improperly obtained funds.

🇺🇸 US SANCTIONS IRANIAN BITCOIN EXCHANGE OVER IRGC AND HORMUZ PAYMENTS
The US Treasury has sanctioned Iranian crypto exchange BitBank, accusing it of facilitating hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin transfers to the IRGC.
Treasury says Iran’s Hormuz Safe Marine Services Authority has also used BitBank since June to transfer payments collected from ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to the Iranian government.
BitBank is controlled by sanctioned Iranian financier Babak Zanjani, who Treasury says built a network of digital asset companies used to evade sanctions and move funds for the IRGC.
The designation freezes BitBank property under US jurisdiction and bars Americans from transacting with the exchange.

NEW: Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet says a Bitcoin quantum migration is a years-long coordination problem, not an overnight hardware event.
He reviewed the SHRINCS draft BIP, a SHA-256 hash-based scheme with 48-byte public keys.
Stateful signatures run 548 to 4,619 bytes versus 64 to 72 today.
The stateless fallback is 5,777 bytes.
Signing on current secure hardware could take minutes.
He argues the harder fight is consensus over dormant coins whose keys never hit the chain.
