Been having a blast with Emberward: #RogueLike / #RogueLite #TowerDefense . Interesting base idea is: You draw cards that are tetris blocks and those you need to use to maze and then build the towers on top of that maze. This actually works really well and makes for pretty tactical gameplay.
I've been playing it already for quite a while during early access but there were some recent features which really pushed it up a notch: They added an ascension like system, which ends up making the game actually hard (which it really needed IMO) and they added a new final stage which makes the mazing a lot more complex with a new mechanic twist.

On today's #ThursDeath I randomly started listening to Exist again. Great band and great album - I would say certainly going into #ProgDeath but without pushing that angle too hard (not that I would mind^^). Also this song throws in a really tasty jazz fusion solo by Sanjay Kumar of Inferi.

aand that's A10 down on Ironclad as well, leaving only the Regent to do... which funnily was the first class I climbed with when I started StS2. Very much interested to see what changed since early stages. My overall impression with Regent at the time was that it's a bit underpowered and the only good way to play is the star resource stuff, but that is also a bit prone to bricking.
Also interesting to see Prismatic Gem - I guess it's newly added? Feels OP, I thought energy relics are supposed to have a downside :D ... but did enjoy playing with it and generally like how Sts2 added some interesting ways to go off color

yeah we are already drowned in slop... I find the same when searching for basic info online like classic "how-to" info or "songs in <guitar tuning>" - all results are SEO optimised slop pages that are clearly written by AI.
Or the other day I searched for a book on Hermann tortoises on amazon to remind myself how the book we used was called and of course all results are slop books. And that I would say is already quite a niche topic, so even those niches are already filled with mass slop.

It's #DiDay - the first Sunday a month where we migrate away from US big tech to smaller European alternatives. See https://di.day/en
A while ago I had moved my email to mailbox.org and since they also offer some cloud storage I now migrated my data from dropbox as well there.
Next upcoming project will be moving away from google photos - probably to pixel union, but it's a bit of a big step of me with my late wife also having 100 GB+ of photos in google... but maybe I start with mine and do hers later.
Also wanting to move from spotify to probably qobuz. I also started a while ago to use bandcamp and buy music, but still need streaming, too

Generally feeling a bit lukewarm about glory options... the big +max hp is also quite uninteresting.
The glam on card rewards can be really cool e.g. on my A9 win the boss was a soft counter to my strategy (the lizard that revives VS poison) so I knew I had to pick many cards and this felt clever and rewarding to pick. But if you don't really need anything, you end up just either not utilising it or filling your deck with random glam goodstuff which is boring.
Compare to e.g. Pael with the energy based options being obviously strong with manageable downside and then you have the relics, extra block etc.

2026-10-02 22:08:01 UTC

- reply

I will say to balance out the tracking luck, getting Glory in 3rd stage with the rewards I was offered (other options were "card rewards have glam" and "enchant three cards with swift") kinda fucked me, as frond didn't feel extremely impactful and other options were not attractive either a) because my deck was complete enough to not pick many more rewards and b) because the extra card from swift draw just didn't look like it'd do enough

2026-10-02 22:05:50 UTC

Third class to clear A10 with: Silent Tracking/Weakness synergy, getting Paper Krane as starting reward and then the first tracking super early, so very clear on that regard, but otherwise a very open ended build since you really don't need many weakness activators at all.
Tbh what carried me over the finish line is starting both boss battles with both copies of Tracking+ in hand, so immediately going to 3x damage on weak enemies. Also the random upgraded ricochet that I found was super strong with the cannon and generally cannon helped a lot pushing my many mediocre attacks (e.g. sucker punches) into solid damage range.

I don't think I had posted it yet, but my wife recently died, leaving me widowed with 2 young kids, so I've been especially seeking out music that feels cathartic in this situation and Ulcerate seems to hit that spot + the theme of "Stare into Death and be still" seemed fitting

is token usage a good metric though? I've heard that token consumption to complete a given task differs wildly between models.
And there might be a factor where tokens being a lot cheaper on those chinese models (I think it's factor 10 or even more) mean that users optimize token usage less and that can make a very big difference as well

My #StS2 second class to clear A10 is Defect with a fun combo ish orb deck using Darkness, Quadcast (which is probably OP, if you ask me), Shatter, and some glass.
Funnily enough my A20H win with Defect in original #StS was also with a darkness based combo deck (but with Multicast) and my A9 win in StS2 with Defect was also Darkness + Multicast + Quadcast. So I guess you could say I have a type^^

We now saw in #dorohedoro s2 how Nikaido's time travel magic let her to losing Yakuno, but what is strange is that in the ensuing scene, Kawajiri is still there with the family, but later when they talk he is surprised she knows her name, mentioning how he only met her at the end of his devil training. So I guess there is another time travel incident that we haven't been shown yet, which fucked up things even further?

but then at least in the the verse it's 4 bars each time and there is an A and a B variation which only differ in very few notes and it also goes A B A B, so there is some structure! And I found that a main building block there is a small phrase (or maybe even word?) going 1 0 1 0 on the low string for eight -> dotted eight -> sixteenth -> quarter note, so taking 2.5 quarter notes in total and this also shows up in slight variations in riff 1

2026-09-07 20:02:11 UTC

Today I started noting down the main rhythm part of #meshuggah 's Straws pulled at random on paper in the hope of finding some pattern that makes the song easier to learn and tbh while doing so there was a pretty strong sense of "oh god why am I doing this to myself" ... especially seeing not just variations involving quarter notes VS dotted eight notes, but also notes lasting 5 16th notes (e.g. a quarter note with a 16th bounded on)

It's clever... I think you are essenrially using
(n+1)² = n² + 2n + 1
where a = n² and b = 2n + 1 ... you are starting at those values for n = 1 and then use it to compute the n = 2 squarw and then since b = 2n + const you have to increase it by 2 in each step

Leider nicht überrascht. BSW war von Anfang an Rotz. Ich verstehe die Leute nicht, die sich dem angeschlossen haben

No really my first Fire Red #pokemon #nuzlocke is going great... this is after Misty :thisisfine:
I had not grinded enough and was a bit below the cap even on my stronger mons and boy did that Starmie tear me a new one.
And yes this is a picture I took of the switch and not a screenshot. The screenshot transfer to phone is just too fiddly to make it worth.

Sehr komisch.

It's #ThursDeath ! Today I listened after a long time again to The Zenith Passage's Datalysium album. It doss feel like a spiritual successor to Planetary Duality, except that it's even crazier on the technical side, with really unique rhythmical playing
I'm still getting into the album, but favorite track so far is Deletion Cult

The new chapter in how #Ai fucking sucks and Ai companies need to be dismantled: #anthropic (likely amongst others) buying millions of books to scan and destroy.

Sehe ich ähnlich. Die 5% Hürde erschwert im Prinzip demokratische Teilhabe, aber für die größeren Parteien ist sie natürlich praktisch...

it's the third year I am growing, but I'll not do a second grow this year. I have plenty anyways... even having a plant at all this year was kinda overkill, but I was just really keen to grow again :D

My #weed plant just before harvest. Easy #outdoorgrowing - was really like 0 effort this year, I barely even checked on the plant. Probably could've fertilised more but whatever.
It's drying now (in a simple cardboard box that I put a sheet of filter on and a hand fan in for ventilation) - interested to see how it will turn out. It's an Auto Mazar by Dutch Passion - so far smelling pretty intense.

yeah if 93 employees are 20% of their work force it means they emply almost 500 people? I genuinely wonder how they keep all of those busy... I guess I don't understand the scope of patreon well?

sounds about right - I planted a bunch of those into my front garden... in German they are "Tüpfel Johanniskraut" which translates pretty much to spotted St.Johnswort
Really love them and the bees love them, too

Recently learned that #AvantGardeBlackMetal masters Imperial Triumphant released a #JazzPiano interpretation of some of their songs - turns out their bassist is also a mindblowing pianist 🤯
It's very intense and actually treats a line between jazz and #ClassicalPiano with influence also in expressionist composers apparently.

I just noticed the coincidence that #AI could also be an abbreviation of #AntiIntellectualism and it seems perfect. AI is really the culmination of a society of instant fulfilment without the bothersome need to think or edjucate yourself. Why read that 5 paragraph article, when you could just get a summary by AI? Why learn another language? Why learn an instrument? Or any skill for that matter? Why engage with someone's art which might be challenging when you could get perfectly digestible sludge tailored to your needs? Mediocrity at the press of a button. Frictionless consumption. Easy answers. Docile and subservant.
