Word on my feed is that what really happened was the training data had some advanced work already moving in the direction of what it claims to have solved, and a team of humans leveraged their superior computational access to finish someone else's work and give the credit to the stochastic parrot. This is the worst kind of plagiarism, truly stomach turning news. But the big lie will be blazoned on every headline while the truth lives on only in the bitter dark souls of people who care about actual knowledge. ymmv

This should terrify you. It isn't funny. It's a statement of intent. It's also not news. And every single [expletive deleted] who ever voted for him, no matter how much they want to distance themselves now, every one of those [expletives deleted] evil-doers has the blood on their hands and must held accountable. Every last one.

Blame von Neuman (and Morgenstern.) The book, "Theory of Games and Economic Behavior" holds that money IS utility (as if the story of King Midas didn't make to to Germany.) These two idiot krauts gave a pseudo-scientific gloss to the divine right of kings, and laid the cornerstone of modern economics. That's how it happens these chuds can convince themselves Musk is anything other than a moronic ketamine addict born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

There are still rules, "the market" is their rule, and in their fatuous ignorance the don't quite get it: No nation, no market; no regulation, no property. The techlords are laregly idiots who misread their sci-fi fantasies.

I had a plant once, but my area wasn't particularly well suited to it. They have such beautiful little purple flowers! I'd probably try again, but I have a brown thumb, and anyway I've been sober for years. Salvia is not for beginners, lazy thrill seekers, or the faint of heart.

Sure polls can be valid. Statisticians don't have to lie. But in the modern era, such numbers are generated for profit. As with the rest of the infotainment industry, such exercises are not intended to arrive at reliable fact or factual the truth, but simply to satisfy the sponsors. After this commercial break, more on numbers!

No doubt the closer we get to actual elections, the hotter and faster. I will be with the block button. Support the Democratic party. Support, the Democratic party. Support the Democratic party. If and when we succeed in defeating the GOP and kicking the Republicans to the curb, then we can start looking at ways to make the Democratic party even better and more worthy. In the meantime, there's one simple goal. Get more Dems in and more Republicans out. Any other strategy supports the pedophile Nazi rapist traitor currently in the White House. If your fantasy life leads you to believe 2 + 2 = 5 or that there is some other viable political strategy in the moment feel free to block me now and odds are I'll get around to blocking you in time if you don't.

Because of where I lived and what age I was there are some stations like the old '70s KNX at 93.1 in LA and of course kusc and KLON and the venerable KROQ --- these were all so important to me in my youth. But nothing compares with the importance soma has had to my ear and heart and mind since I discovered y'all in 2002. It's hard to believe I've been a fan for 24 years, increasingly reliant on Rusty and the gang to feed my head tasty tasty noises. Just thought I'd take a second to say thank you to everyone that has anything to do with Soma.fm!

Howdy! I am confused by this use of the word "olla" as I thought it was a spice/flavor mix of cinnamon, clove, and star-anise. Now I'm thinking the term comes as much from the pot in which the spices are infused as from the spice mix itself.

Cy, TotC isn't "an assumption. I'ts a very specific paper written by a very specific individual and published in a specific magazine on a specific date. If that's not what /you/ mean by the term we are not talking about the same thing. Have you read it? Would you like to? It isn't terribly long nor hard to find.
Eugenics is saying /which/ people we don't need more of, as you seemed to when you said "the wrong people." I didn't say there should be regulation on the topic of population. I said our growth from 2 billion to 8 billion is strong evidence that we had resources to take care of all 2 billion, back when.
We don't need more people. That doesn't equate with saying I want to control who and who does not breed.

2026-07-25 16:40:09 UTC

- reply

That's exactly the eugenicist's argument offered in "The Tragedy of the Commons." It's nazism at its finest. There's no "these people should breed, these people shouldn't" from an evolutionary standpoint...only from a political one.

Usually what I'm thinking is that the population explosion during my lifetime from two billion to eight billion is strong evidence that we had resources enough to care for everyone back at the two billion mark and the one thing we really don't need is more humans.

Oh I think there's some difference. Hitler wasn't really known for pedophilia and rape....I mean he might have been a child rapist as well as a Nazi, but the tech bros just sat down with someone they know raped 13-year-olds girls and was part of an international human trafficking ring, as well as a traitor since January 6th 2020, and on and on. So this group of richies probably has even less excuse. #EatTheRich

These folks aren't into recovery. They're into punishment. These are not worshipers of the theoretical loving all-forgiving Jesus. These are worshipers of the YHWH that drowned a planet. These are the worshipers of the god that smote Sodom and Gomorrah. These people do not care about your recovery. They want you to suffer.
