A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A wood and water day, like most. One extra task for the list. Maybe two if I do my laundry.
Moving day here. After 3+ years, my last morning post. My last daily haiku on Zirk.us.
I'm not stopping. Just moving to a new instance: @nprofile…yd8z
Trying to keep track of two accounts (three if you include the Daily Haiku Prompt) is just more complication than I need.
Sometimes, I just need a change.
May your changes be your choices #today

It has actually happened to me three times in my life.
After the first one, I thought I was careful enough to avoid a repeat, but somehow I always managed to miss the clues.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A rare morning that started with waking from a nightmare. The hangover continues, even half an hour after waking.
It's not a new one. After work, I discover my car has been towed. I don't know who towed it or where it went. A parking violation in the employee parking lot but the business is now closed so I have nobody to ask about what I'd done or where the car went.
0/10. Do not recommend.
I hope your morning gets off to a better start that that #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
What a difference a good night's sleep makes. I feel like I'm in the day instead of observing it from some fog bound land.
I've had them more often lately. More than any time in my life. The dichotomy shows up most clearly when a good night follows a bad.
Turns out the so-so ones are the problem. The good enough ones that really aren't.
I guess I needed to see a bad one side by side with a good to really understand.
I hope you have a good one #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A broken night's sleep has me up too soon and groggy. It would figure that the day I don't have a 2 mile walk scheduled is the day I wake up long before the sun.
So it goes.
I still have things to do. Status checks on various works in progress. A trip to the market later. Wood and water tasks.
With 100F+ in the forecast, it's a good day to hunker down and wait it out.
I hope your day starts well and finishes better than you expected #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
The sun got up before I did. It's going to make my morning walk less pleasant, but my body must have needed the extra minutes of sleep.
I have a few minutes before I have to start the business of the day. My coffee is fresh, not too hot to drink. Mostly wood and water tasks on the list.
A good time to be grateful that, in the midst of the chaos, I can still find quiet, if only for a few moments.
I hope you find a few moments of quiet #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A slow day starting. A hot one forecast. Nothing major on my list. A few extra tasks because it's a Saturday. A few more because a new month.
I'm making progress on my various projects. Establishing the new patterns.
Slowly. Very slowly.
But thinking back to New Year's Day, the year's been good to me. I haven't accomplished all I wanted but I can celebrate what I have.
I hope you take a moment to celebrate something #today

An early one. The kind that has me up well before the sun and not because it's midwinter. I'm looking forward to my walk before the sun gets too high in the sky.
My list holds only wood and water tasks.
The last week has been somewhat fraught with extra tasks. Jobs gone sideways. Things not working out very well.
And now this unexpected boon.
I hope I use it wisely.
I hope you, too, catch a break or two #today

I designed, built, and taught online courses for universities for years.
The amount of interaction really depends on the course design and the platform it's delivered on.
Most platforms lean toward learner management under the guise of learning management.
What most don't realize is that all learning is internal and all teaching is at a distance. Even if the distance is only from the white board to the first row.
It's how that gap get bridged that matters.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Workman coming early. A doctor appointment shortly thereafter. The morning routine compressed, pieces postponed.
I have enough slow waking, slow moving mornings that this feels crowded. Cramped by the external timelines converging on this brief period.
Some days are like that.
Thankfully, very few.
I'm still taking a few moments to savor this quiet before the storm. Might be the only chance all day.
May your day be less crowded #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
I lost the race with sunrise. Still have Things to Do before I can take my 2 mile walk. I can postpone some of them until after but others can't be helped.
Not like the heat will be dangerous if I leave a half hour later. Just uncomfortable.
I'm too old and set in my ways to court discomfort. Some things are worth working for.
I hope this is one of them.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A quiet day planned. A day to drift, I think.
The sun's about to rise, and I need to get my walk in before it gets too high in the sky.
Some things I can't fight. I just have to adapt to them. Summer heat. Winter cold. Limits brought on by age and inclination.
And that's okay.
Railing against the universe, shouting at clouds for blocking the sun, bemoaning a falling tide?
Foolish. I hope I've learned better.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A few extra tasks on the normal list, but nothing to onerous.
Bread rising in the kitchen. It needs to wake up from a night in the fridge before baking.
A grocery run folded into a regular taxi job in the heat of the afternoon.
A rest day from walking. Given the temp at sunrise (80F), I'm just as glad.
So a low-key Monday morning. A day I'm looking forward to living.
I hope your day stacks up as well #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Awake for half an hour and rushing to get through the morning routine. The sun beat me out of bed this morning. I need to catch up.
A quiet Saturday planned. A walk. Some reading. Some writing. Game time, for certain.
Basic wood and water day.
One of those days when just drifting along feels like the right choice, not just a default action.
Might have time to think.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Workman coming to repair some loose pieces of siding this afternoon. Not a big job. Just one beyond my capabilities.
Many of the finicky bits of life are that way these days. I rely on younger, stronger, more knowledgeable people.
Really, I've just had to own getting old. I don't have the strength or flexibility I need.
But, contrary to dire predictions in my youth, I survived to get here. I'll take the win.

When it comes to novels (and sales thereof), reviews do not matter to discovery.
Discovery has already happened if a potential reader encounters a review.
Reviews do not drive sales.
Sales drive reviews.
With somebody reading the book (a "sale"), there can be no review.
The "social proof" argument only matters if the cover art and surrounding blurb-age fails first and the potential reader seeks confirmation of the decision they've already made.

But a day without having to visit a medical practitioner or a grocery store? I'm here for it.
I've got work to do. Wood to chop. Water to carry stuff. But doing work I choose beats having it imposed on me every time.

Yes. It get the best traction by avoiding pre-orders, delaying notifications, spreading early spike into a smoother growth.
It works best on second/third books in the series so the buzz around the new release garners attention to the earlier works. That snowballs forward.
Amazon rewards consistency as well as velocity.

Will I spend it on "should?"
Or will I seek joy in the living of it?

Struggling this morning after a poor night.

No real lessons to learn or conclusions to draw.

Second place is good enough.

Ebook.
I don't have time (or patience) to deal with the non-refreshable cellulose displays.
And the storage requirements!
I have too much space taken up with the old style "books" already and need to start culling.
Also I always carry a book with me wherever I go. It's much easier to carry my whole library and not just a single title that might run out before I get back.

Up before the sun for a change. As satisfying as the lazy morning lay-a-beds have felt, I've been off balance. Like the day's half over if I sleep until 6:30.
The sun will still beat me out to the sidewalk. It'll rise in about 10 minutes, but it won't have reached broiling levels by the time I get out there.
The day just feels better and it hasn't even started.
Weird.
I hope your day starts from a good place #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Not much on the agenda but I'm eager to get going this morning.
Some mornings are like that. Roaring out of the gate, ready to take on the day.
I've breakfast waiting and a walk outside before the day heats up too much.
My stalled manuscript took on some new life yesterday. I'm hoping that it continues. It doesn't take much to ignite a story, but that spark has been missing for way too long.
I hope you find your spark #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Sure, it's Monday but that's just a label. It will be what I make of it.
Simple day.
Trash day.
Grocery store day.
Chop wood day.
Carry water day.
Perhaps write. Perhaps read. Perhaps play.
Perhaps the day when ambition and intention ignite.
Or not.
Definitely a day to clean my glasses.
I have no idea what the day will bring, but I'll be here for it.
I hope your day brings you what you need #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
Groggy, shaky morning. The unsettled sense of odd dreams unremembered hanging on. Slowly dissipating under the influence of bright sun and hot coffee.
Wood and water on the docket. Some homely tasks to re-center myself.
I want to spend some quality time with my writing again. Yesterday's efforts have set the stage. I just need to follow through.
Breakfast first.
One step after another.
I hope you take the steps you need to take #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A catch-up day, I hope. The month is already littered with empty bottles and used tissues. Tasks half done or overlooked completely.
But it's Saturday morning cartoons! I don't wanna do my homework.
Apparently, no matter how old I get, I'm still that petulant 12 year old inside.
But I have tools to deal with me and better toys to play with.
Can I catch up in one day?
Maybe.
Won't know till I try.
I hope you rise to meet your challenges #today

A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A day to address some lagging tasks. Things I wanted to do but haven't found the attention to deal with.
Or not.
It's too early in the morning to predict how the day will break.
Other than the sun has risen and so have I.
Eyes not quite focused. Brain still mushy from sleep. Coffee in my cup.
I've time to harness my scattered wits before hitching them up to pull the day's wagon.
Slow start is still a start.
May your day start smoothly #today

I need to do this.
Maybe after lunch.
