People use a lot of tools on history pages and diff pages, often causing content to jump around which leads to misclicks, but this could be fixed with an undo of course.
It’s a publicly logged action, but we don’t tell that in an easy way to the user (no list of other users who liked this comment, to prevent piling on) which is rather uncommon.
Yet we still want a user to know their action can be traced. Thus “do you want to *publicly* thank this user”

Been looking into browsersupport of WebVTT features. (Will publish next week)
Most surprising so far; Chrome seems dead last and Safari is most feature complete.
NONE of the browsers seem to support karaoke cue timestamps however. What a shame :(

I finally officially released my VTT llibrary for PHP
It allows for parsing and authoring of VTT files. A future step is to also implement full featured HTML rendering, but its not something i need right now. Why vivid ? I don’t know, I liked the alliteration.

WMF staffers asked me during wmhack, why I have decided not to work for WMF.
I think the answer is pretty obvious

I love merino wool when i'm traveling, because it's light, breathing and odor resistant, but it sure as heck isn't durable. Every piece i've had has developed substantial holes after about two weeks of wearing time.
And i've been handwashing and been buying more expensive stuff over the years, but it's always the same.

these can go for a 1000+ USD. The glass can be easily replaced if you want (but keep the original). A clean and service will cost you, but can be worth it for sure. (They kinda need maintenance every 10 to 20 years, or the dry oils will make it wear internally)

This is today, and it is not being talked enough about outside of Sweden if you ask me.
Lets hope this doesn’t go anywhere, but keep speaking up about the things Medin reports on.

having worked for a global organization, there are like 100 of such systems. You know how expensive payment systems and identity systems from all over the world are ?
You can blow the entire budget of wikipedia (40mil a year) JUST supporting payment and identity systems, the certification process for each etc. It’s still a loooooong way there.
Its much easier to have one system, that works and that the IRS isn’t going to ask you questions about
