Open Source Alumni are gone but not forgotten. Their impact is still with us. Let's remember those who stepped up and got us to where we are today.
Here's my proposal for recognizing prior gem owners on RubyGems.org:

@nprofile…c0g6 @nprofile…wtxa Is RC currently doing that or it's just a thing it **could** do?
I'm curious about the specifics, is this a pretty standard thing, or does each foundation that allows this have their own rules?
Presumably the foundation would expect the other people to do their own fundraising, but then the money that comes in is earmarked?

@nprofile…wtxa I’m shy on details. But I’ve heard that some foundations operate as something like an umbrella to other, smaller units and effectively act as a bank. So maybe a setup like that could allow something like Sidekiq to not have to own 100% of the overhead.

@nprofile…wtxa I agree that we cannot wish and hope in this space. At the same time, overhead of foundations is non-trivial so setting up one for something so specific while staying focused might be difficult.
Frankly, Ive not really seen any compute foundations that I would want to replicate 1:1. CNCF falls under the Linux foundation but it doesn’t really materially support them (through paying devs).
You mention Apache. How do they support their projects/developers?

@nprofile…64wa @nprofile…0exz @nprofile…am9h @nprofile…z2qz My current thought process follows "how would the world look if the firing wasn't botched?"
Supposedly, these strong measures happened due to concerns of some kind. After doing what was needed to address the concerns, they should have made them public and explicit. We can't trust measures are needed if we can't see the end goal.
If this was TDD, the community can't fix the suite if we didn't even have access to the failing specs.

What can a tomorrow look like? What is the healthiest version?

I'm interested in getting some Airpods Max headphones. For ~1/2 the list price I see used ones on ebay and craigslist. I'm worried about getting a knockoff though.
