I had a little extra play money this month, so of course I bought some new ink for my fountain pens =X I went with 3 Wearingeul inks (I love that brand so much).
- Matthias (I've been using a sample of this, and I'm finally out. I adore it)
- Heimdall (I've heard good things, and needed an orange)
- The Phantom of the Opera (how could I not, this looks amazing).
Excited for them to get here!

Most people know I have a circular sock knitting machine (that I adore, and use frequently) but I also have a flatbed #knitting machine, a Brother KH-930 which I have NOT given proper attention to in quite some time, but have been debating more and more >< It has a steep learning curve but I'm contemplating setting up my art area with it for a few months to settle down and get some learning done.

I just don't understand how they thought it would end. Did they think they could just drive clear across to Spain or France? How could they live here all their lives and think that it was safe?!

2026-03-06 12:16:40 UTC

So my husband is a first responder, and last night he had a call where a SUV had driven (on the OCEAN) 3km away from shore, and (gasp) gotten stuck.
They were locals, who were sober, who said it "was tradition". to DRIVE ON THE OCEAN.
Now, yes. Parts of the ocean do freeze here when it gets especially cold, but it's MARCH, and next week it's +10C all week long. There is no way to get their SUV off of the ice, no tow truck is going to head 3km off shore.
People. I swear...

But it's also my kiddos 9th birthday, a day for joy and happiness. So today I think about the parts that still make me cry, and tomorrow we will be all smiles.

I bought a very inexpensive 'Platinum Preppy' - it was $6 CAD, and my goodness it is *SO* lovely to write with. I heard you have to have the platinum converter for this, but I'm using a parker converter, no issues (yet?). The ink is Wearingeul - "A taxidermied Genius" - LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. Love.

OK I'm no where near 100 tiny paintings, after 11 I just sort of fizzled out, so here's number 12, finally ^^
These are 2"x2" squares, paint is windsor & newton field travel set, ink is carbon ink (black) in a Hong dian forest series fountain pen (M nib).
I'm collecting them in a mint tin. I think there's a thread of these things some where..

Today was new ink day!
I've been using my purple & black ink for a VERY long time, so I decided to branch out. I got Diamine inks Ancient Copper, and Diamine inks Green/Black. LOVE the green/black (inked up a st. dupont, F nib) and I think I would love the ancient copper - but I inked up an EF pilot (extra fine), and EF is just not the pen for me which is hindering my enjoyment.
Also what the hell the Lamy Safari drinks ink faster than I've ever seen.

Yesterday I discovered that my local grocery store does free delivery, and honestly I've never been more excited.
I'm not allowed to drive due to my MS, and husband *hates* doing groceries, plus he would always worry if he was going away on course that we'd run out of food (we never have, but it was causing anxiety for him). Now I can take that chore back from him which is rare since my diagnosis, heh.
I had no idea that affordable grocery delivery was a thing. I'm VERY thankful.

side note, different cheese cloth (muslin, etc etc, even coffee filters work) has different.. holes? (not sure the technical term), make sure the whey is draining as clear/yellow (it's almost like a syrup consistency) not milky, if it's milky that means yogurt is draining with it and you don't want that.

2025-05-15 16:33:26 UTC

- reply

This is *exactly* true, I have done it once >< It was still delicious but was NOT what I was aiming for, LOL.

2025-05-15 09:22:03 UTC

- reply

You can always give it a bit of a mix, see how thick it is, and strain longer / call it good if you like how it's looking. Yogurt is (thankfully) very forgiving.

2025-05-15 09:20:15 UTC

- reply

I strain mine only for about 1-2h, you'll be able to judge by the amount of whey that comes running out of it, also just shuffle the bag a bit to get the whey running again part way through. When it barely drips any more, I call that good enough.

So for anyone not familiar, I homeschool both of my kids due to a lack of resources / etc etc in our location. Anyway, they LOVE cooking, so every second week we do that, they pick the item we're making, and today they (6y/8y) made pretzels. They are SO GOOD. They don't look like much (also thanks child who made pretzel poop...) but they're delicious. Recipe included below. HIGHLY recommended. Simple enough for kids.

I like the taste better as I make it as thick as I want (I also use it as sour cream, and you can even make it like cheese), plus milk is WAY cheaper than buying greek yogurt. $7 for 4L of milk, which makes me about 2-3L of greek yogurt, vs. uhh yeah. LOL.

Since I've migrated servers I don't have the other 18 images, but there's still lots of time left, so I'll just pick up here.
For me this project is about making dedicated time specifically for art, every day. Maybe even getting better at it over time. The drawings are pencil crayon bugs (term used loosely) found in Canada.
