Dear New York Times puzzle ad generator:
Are you showing me ads for Cartier jewelry because you've seen my Apple Card spending this month and mistakenly think I can afford it? Or do you show ads for Cartier jewelry to everyone who plays Wordle and Connections?
Either way, I suspect that Cartier is wasting their advertising dollars.

Tax cuts for the rich increase inequality and don’t grow the economy or decrease unemployment, research shows.

Here's a money saving tip to anyone who needs to bandage/re-bandage a wound or a splint with the stretchy stuff that sticks to itself. You can go into Walgreens and buy 2 yard rolls for $7.99 or you can go into the local feed store and buy 5 yard rolls of vet wrap for $2.99. And the vet rep comes in cool colors.

🇨🇦 Attention Canadians! 🇨🇦
My trip to Coeur d'Alene was canceled because my Arizona friends supposedly caught a cold and think the air isn't good enough for a visit there. 🙄
I'm trying to think of where I can go for a few days just to get away. I think I'm going to go north, into #Canada, to show them some love by spending money there instead of in the US. I just need to figure out where to go where there's little or no smoke. Road trip suggestions in #BC between Osoyoos and Nelway?

While I had my #drone up, I sent it to take some relatively close-up shots at the #basalt cliffs south of my house. This is the column that worries me. I can see it clearly from my house and I don't think that if it dropped it would get as far as my house, but I certainly would not want to be below it.
I had to toggle the settings for the drone to get it up this high. Even though it was less than 400 feet off the ground where it was (legal), it was more than 400 feet above where it took off.

For those of you who think #Amazon doesn't care much about its delivery drivers: Because of all the smoke here, they are handing over all deliveries to the local post office. The #USPS, in turn, are forcing us to drive down to the post office to get our large packages because they don't come house to house in my area. That's a 12-mile round trip for me.🙄
And yes, I know! Shame on me for ordering from them. But sometimes they are the only fucking alternative for some of the weird shit I need.

Non-pilots have absolutely no idea of the kinds of hazards they can cause to #firefighting aircraft with their #drones. As a helicopter pilot, I know that a drone strike to my tail rotor would take me out out of the sky and likely kill me. Drones can also hit (and break) aircraft windshields or get sucked into turbine intake ports.
It is against the law to fly a drone in a no fly zone for a reason. Don't be a selfish asshole! @nprofile…2enj https://bird.makeup/users/wadnr/statuses/2084449270636446049

I just spent 20 minutes preparing three #postcards for #Postcrossing. I like to do them in batches of at least three. I've been getting a pretty steady flow of incoming postcards from all over the world and I really like that. I hang them on my fridge for a while and then put them away. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, but it's neat to get them.😊
Images show my current wall and the three cards I'm sending out tomorrow.

But they've allowed multiple parties to scrape gravel off the road and now expect us to pay for new gravel on the road. Great sentiments, but I feel as if yet another slop machine is being used to target our emotions. I want this to be real, but I am not convinced it is.
Maybe you have additional insight that can convince me?

@nprofile…kahw Oh, in certain situations I have zero problem telling people I'm Canadian. It is the orange clown and his enablers who are dishonoring the memory of the remarkable people in our history. The thing that's important to me when I travel is to stay safe. And I also really don't want to hear people complaining to me about how fucked up my country is since every vote I've cast would have prevented this, had the person I voted for won. #NotMyFault

I’m looking for someone with a #sewing machine capable of doing #embroidery. I want to have tags made on canvas with a length in feet embroidered onto the tag in bold numbers about 2 inches tall. For example, 35’ or just 35. The tag edges must be finished and I will be adding a grommet. I'll need 11 of these with varying lengths. I'll pay a reasonable price. I’d rather hand this off to a craftsperson than find a fancy embroidery shop to do it. Please boost for exposure. #SupportArtistsAndMakers

@nprofile…kahw Or maybe the security process shouldn't be so fucking slow? Having to pull an iPad out of my bag every time I go through security? Partially disrobing to go through a machine that can apparently see right through your clothes? Having to take my shoes off if I opt out of the backscatter machine? All the bullshit about liquids being less than 3 ounces? Maybe if we reduce the security theater, we can make the process faster.

Meanwhile, my trigger thumb is swollen today and extremely painful. I'll finally see a doctor about it in just less than two weeks. I will definitely cause a scene if they try to put off treatment for another visit, which is this healthcare center's MO. Maximize the number of visits to maximize billing. 🙄 #CallMeKaren #USHealthcareSucks

@nprofile…kahw I have to fly next month again. I depart from a tiny airport with just one gate, no jetway, and two flights a day. Security usually takes less than 10 minutes; I’ve never waited behind more than 10 people. But the return flight, out of Savannah, is likely to be a different story.

@nprofile…ryua @nprofile…h55a When my grandmother passed away in 2000, I inherited a tempera painted newspaper pumpkin from her that I had made in kindergarten. I still have it. I figure it's about 60 years old now. It lives in the plastic produce bag my grandmother kept it in. She put it on a shelf in her bay window every Halloween for 35 years.

I continue to remain jealous of the folks who have an (apparently) unlimited number of characters to express themselves here on Mastodon. My instance, mastodon.world, only gives us 500 characters. Although my client of choice, Mona, will automatically split along post into shorter posts of less than 500 characters, inserting the notation n/n at the end of each one, I'd like to be able to write a 510 character post and not have to resort to either chopping it up into pieces or removing words I'd

I have been on hold with ReserveCalifornia for nearly an hour now. Every 20 to 30 seconds they play a record recording that says:
"All of our agents are assisting other callers. If you would like for us to hold your place in line and call you back when an agent is available, press star at any time."
My question to the #grammar nerds out there, including @nprofile…kkfs:
Is the word "for" appropriate in the sentence? I'm thinking it makes the sentence grammatically incorrect. Thoughts? #writing

@nprofile…rh6u @nprofile…l7em @nprofile…49d7 @nprofile…ldw4 I agree with you 100%. I did have social media for my businesses and abandoned it. I still have a website for my jewelry business, but it has become such a hassle to update my work on that site as well as my online shop site that now I just pretty much point everyone to my online shop.
I'd rather run my business, make new inventory, and have a life than try to keep up with social media for the one or two new customers it might generate in a month.

@nprofile…l7em @nprofile…49d7 @nprofile…ldw4 I think you're right, at least on some level. But I also truly believe that small business owners think all they need to do to build a business is put themselves on a site like Facebook and sit back and wait for the customers to come. Same goes for Instagram and Twitter and anything else. They don't seem to care that these platforms do not give them exposure to ALL potential customers.

@nprofile…49d7 @nprofile…ldw4 Ditto for Facebook. If Facebook is the only way you communicate with customers, you won't be communicating with me because I won't be a customer.

@nprofile…kahw I have been unable to watch movies with disturbing scenes for quite some time now. Violence like in the Matrix and similar sci-fi type movies seems to be OK, but I've never been able to watch horror and gore. Scenes with violence committed on vulnerable people like women and children really upset me, even if I know that the bad guy is going to get his due in the end. I'm very careful about what I watch, given that I have to sleep at night.
