Turns out that blending silken tofu and a touch of nutritional yeast into some oat milk makes for a pretty great and relatively inexpensive cream alternative.

Color me curious.
Suppose a company has said they are exploring gen AI, but the games they are putting out currently are ostensibly free of it.
What is your buy policy?
This describes many companies, though Remedy was the one that sparked this rumination.
Thus far, I've taken any statement in favor as reason enough to boycott, which broadly means that anything touched by a big studio has been off limits for the past couple years.

As someone who is frequently in the orbit of speedrunning, I do think there's a perception problem in that we generally only see the top few runners of any given game, and so it sometimes feels like there isn't much point in submitting runs that aren't within a certain epsilon of "competitive."
We really ought to do more to encourage runs that aren't at or around WR territory.
I want to see more casual runners hanging out and doing events.

This is my new favorite graph, I think. A chart of everything in the observable universe, plotted by the logs of their same-volume-sphere radii and the logs of their masses.
Devised by Lineweaver and Patel
Fun fact: each axis being logarithmic is why everything seems to sort neatly into bands.
On a log log graph, a constant slope means the two quantities are related by a power of the x-axis quantity. So basically this is saying, for most objects in the universe, mass scales with the cube of radius (as the slopes are uniformly 3).
Which makes sense, since that's also how volume scales, but there are some exceptions: namely that line of black holes, since their masses only scale with radius itself, not with the cube, which is also why we have that hard upper band of forbidden values.

This person kinda got to the heart of the matter, I think.
In which case, I do find it funny that examples of fallacious arguments often come in the form of arguments that were clearly never intended to be deductive in the first place.

2026-08-19 19:08:49 UTC

I think we'd save a lot of time talking about logical fallacies / fallacious arguments by simply saying "if it ain't deductive reasoning, it ain't shit."
Like, looking through the long list of fallacious arguments, most of it is just caricatures of inductive reasoning, lol.
The entire scientific method rests on a combination of the Post Hoc and Argumentum ad Populum fallacies.
"B seems to always happen when we do A, therefore A implies B."
That's inductive reasoning, baby. It gave us the foundations of Newtonian physics.

It was pointed out to me that the paradox only is present if you interpret the statement as being true, which yeah, the paradox resolves under the false condition, which would mean that it just has to be false.

2026-08-19 00:06:38 UTC

"Their are three erors in this sentence."
I say this is a paradox, because if you take the third error to be the idea that there are three errors, then there are only two errors, which means there are three errors, etc etc
So, the errors in the sentence aren't actually numerable at all.

2026-08-16 16:51:54 UTC

As it comes to the developers putting out games with genAI, my philosophy has been this fwiw:
big names have only 1 strike and then they get put on the Ignore list
though I still ain't playing it, smaller studios get a pass unless they lie about it, in which case the strike policy applies anyway

I can't promise you that I will always succeed, but I can promise you that I'm always trying my best.

Low key suspicious of any game that has romance mechanics but doesn't include an LGBT+ tag.

Ain't nobody doing Espeon art out there. Absolutely criminally low levels of affection for the mind bending eldritch eeveelution. Waow.

This is probably at least partially born of growing up near the ocean, but I'm way more terrified of gators than I am of sharks.
Like...for sharks, you're not a "menu" item really, but for alligators, you're another chewy ambush-able land animal, lol
Fresh water scary!

Say what you will about the lore accuracy and mechanical aptitude of Werewolf the Apocalypse: Earthblood, but those were some damn fine lookin werewolves, at least.

Hello folks!
I'm afraid that I woke up with a huge headache this morning, and while it has since dissipated, my brain is kinda foggy.
I also kinda need more food, so I'm going to do some self-care for today.
See you Sunday for demos and more Ender Magnolia!
