Huge number of posts in the UK just recently calling for a "Crack down on illegal E-Bikes and E-Scooters" from Police Forces, MPs, and Councillors.
What's driving this? Is there some national campaign that's been kicked off? Who benefits?
These posts are frequently accompanied by photos of delivery riders being stopped or "illegal devices" being thrown in the back of vans.

I refer the honourable gentleman not to the reply in Arkell v. Pressdram, but to David Davis in 2008. Davis resigned as an MP to stand in a single-issue by-election in 2008 to make a point and the major parties refused to field candidates.
Ideally, nobody stands against Farage, he walks straight back into Parliament without the need for a by-election. Where he then immediately faces the exact same inquiry into abuse of parliamentary rules.

US Standard Coffee Cups are 5 Fl Oz or 147ml. Different from the US cooking "Cup" which is 8 fl oz or 236ml. UK mugs are typically 250ml.
The water reservoir is marked in cups and ml but with 150ml markings. Luckily the system can be told to brew quantities in 10ml increments so 500ml for 2 mugs is easy to set as a default. This all causes much confusion.
The user guide is the common 5 pages of pictures. So you really need the online FAQ. Which is hidden away in the marketing website.

The UK Right-Wing parties are going hard today on how the UK is a Christian country. The thing is we're actually an A-Religious country. 30% say they have no religion when asked. 30% were brought up in a faith but haven't though about it since they were 10. 20% know what to do in a place of worship, but only ever go for weddings and funerals. In a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel, Iran paid some N London corner kids to set fire to Jewish Ambulances for money. And then made it look exactly like an Israeli false flag so the blame would end up on Israel.

2026-03-22 08:19:39 UTC

There's a winning strategy in iterated games theory (I think).
1. Never strike first
2. Tit for tat escalation. Each time the opponent attacks, attack back
3. Immediately back down when the opponent backs down
4. Offer negotiation at every stage
This looks like what Iran is doing. The problem arises when the initial aggressor thinks they are all powerful and believes they have an undeniable right to win.

I'm going to assume that this is true. That the IDF-USA has assassinated a major section of Iran's leadership.
1. Doing this, and without even a declaration of war, seems like a new development in the "international rules based order".
2. Iran has probably compartmentalised and probably has succession in place. So they will probably continue to react.

Still waiting for more or less official numbers for UK Covid Deaths for 2025. My guess is that it will be just over 5200 or an average of 100 per week.
This is deaths where Covid is mentioned on the death certificate as a contributing factor by the doctor who signs it off. Despite the lack of testing, and lack of follow up of prior Covid infections.
Related to this will be UK excess death figures compared with pre-2020.
If anyone sees reliable figures for either please comment.

We'll wring our hands over the rise in Antisemitism. We'll get upset at angry words at protests but not why the protests happen. Or that they're happening at all every weekend. We definitely won't talk about the problems with Zionism, Gaza, West Bank, Lebanon. Conflating criticism of any of that with antisemitism. Why *so many* in the UK Cabinet are supported by Labour Friends Of Israel.
We won't talk about any of that, because it's complicated and we might get accused of being Antisemitic.

We'll worry about people, especially young, not in education, employment or training (Neet). But barely mention that vacancies, employment, apprenticeships are down. Redundancies, unemployment are up.
Then describe absence due to long term sickness up, as a consequence rather than a cause. With an implied victim blame by calling it over-diagnosis. During a pandemic.

“Flu & Covid spreads through the air, so please wash your hands”
"Get your Covid and Flu Vax." But you're not eligible and anyway we're out of stock.
Consider wearing a face covering and staying at home if sick. But go into the office, hospital & school if you're not too sick. And win prizes for attendance.

Old enough to remember when automation would make manual factory jobs redundant. And we'd be able to work less for more money and have more leisure time instead of drudgery. But the only job for a steel worker in the N was as a sec in London.
Now AI means it's white collar's turn.

It really sucks to be working age in the UK. Unemployed or economically inactive because:-
- Too young and inexperienced
- Too old and over-experienced
- Long term sick
- Nobody's hiring
- The only jobs are zero hours, gig economy
- Your white collar job got "replaced" by AI or just dropped
- No more work from home and the job is now 150 miles away
- Day care for the kids is too expensive
- Brexit means the Euro job has gone

The Irony of the right complaining about the left wing bias of the BBC and getting the senior management fired. Who were put in by the right and were directly responsible for the right wing bias of the BBC.
With an unhealthy dose of Zionism in the mix. Complaining about the Antisemitic (anti-Israel) bias of the BBC while the BBC produces news that is unremittingly pro-Israel.
The Irony. It burns.
What they really hate is public broadcasting.

Why couldn't it have been extended to cover other common illnesses like Flu, RSV, Noro?

Love my KZ ZS-10-Pro-X earbuds with the AZ09 Pro Bluetooth add on. But they're not good at blocking wind noise on the bicycle. In the winter you can pull the beanie over your ears but the rest of the year, it's a bit loud.
Also got some 1More PistonBuds noise cancelling. But the music sound isn't as good, and while wind cancelling does work a bit, road bumps induce ear clunk noises.
Quality sound, wind cancelling earbuds, not stupid expensive. Suggestions?

And it's time to keep asking the Reform Bots and Useful Idiots who support Reform UK Party Ltd why they are supporting a group of people who took Russian money to Break Britain, who then tell us Britain is Broken and only they can fix it.
