He literally said "a stick of butter is worth one dollar.". But please continue to try explaining your "new math"

RTFA:
"...it's about a buck for a stick like this."
So to put that in grade 3 math terms:
If Billy paid four dollars for four sticks of butter, how much would one stick of butter cost?

I'm no maga supporter, but at least the guy can do gr 3 math.
1lb butter = $4
1 lb butter = 4 sticks butter
1 stick butter = $1

Everyone is allowed to have opinions, credentials just give them weight... Sometimes ;P
I mean, in its loosest terms, engineering is the methodical solution of problems. A lot of software development is probably more like craft--definitely closer to the mark personally: a lot of going together other people's work. but, even in the very strict world of p.eng. there are still just plain bad engineers, often pushed there by MBA's that can't tell metrics from targets

Imagine if other engineering disciplines adopted 'agile' methodologies?
It would be like "sorry that toaster burned your house down, but by plugging it in, you agreed to waive all liability. A friend recently recruited me into Internal Audit. We were sitting down over whiskey one night, and her team needed help and I needed some income and the discussion came down to problem solving and root cause analysis.
It's been an interesting change of direction, but a little discouraging sometimes when I find I don't even know what I don't know.

In one particularly sensitive site we maintained a POTS auto dialer triggered by the dry contacts on the well float switch. Pretty much 100% analogue! Huge respect to those guys. They knew how to make sure the 💩 kept moving!

It's almost like the business model incentivizes shitty customer service to encourage up-sales, and junk fees because they have a monopoly and know you can't take your business elsewhere.
It reminds me of the dawn of food safety regulations back in the 1920's. The carrot didn't work. Time for a big stick!

I guess I was always more of a red teamer. Installed my first Trojan on the school's Icon network around 1987, and exploited netware broadcast messaging for 💩+😂.
In the end though, you have to know your enemy...

After nearly a year and a half of fruitless job hunting. A friend of mine recently recruited me into internal audit. Honestly, I didn't even know what it was, but I'm fitting in pretty well. Still very dynamic and analytical, but waaay less external BS.
But back to the point, I think the only way to get hired these days is through some form of personal contact.

Yep. I have a pair of leather MEC sandals that are now approaching 25yrs. I have put countless miles on them from the Arctic to the Amazon to the Sahara--pretty much every continent on the planet (except the antarctic!) I've had to whip a couple stitches here and there, but they are still the most comfortable sandals I have ever owned. I have been looking for a replacement for 7 or 8 years now, but nothing even comes close to that quality.

to grant the proxy service access to the Internet, thus, as soon as the proxy service puts traffic out to the Internet, they are committing a crime.
Like, just because the kid at the Circle K lets you in the door, doesn't mean you can just grab a handful of twinkies and a big gulp and walk out the door.

Also NAL, but I seem to recall that one of the biggest criticisms of CFAA was the over-broad definition of unauthorized access, but I think it has a lot of parallels here. (Forgive me if I get this wrong, but Swartz was a number of years ago..) Swartz had permission to connect to the network, but used it for unintended purposes as which made it a criminal act. Here, the user has granted the proxy permission to join the home LAN, but the user does not have the authority...(1/2)

I'm pretty sure most residential customers have contracts that prohibit reselling access to the service, so that would make this a violation of their terms of service, which means that the proxy operators do not have authorization to run a proxy service on a residential network, which makes this a criminal activity. Maybe it's time to dust off the CFAA and light a candle for Aaron Swartz.

This is why vulture capital firms will pay ridiculous sums to acquire all the vendors in a particular market segment. I worked in a municipal government and watched dozens of small vendors that we used get acquired and when we looked at the other available solutions find that they too had already been acquired so we were pushed into crappier solutions as they tried to aggregate with crappy support and more expensive licensing and support fees.

It's pretty unlikely that the "King Clause" is constitutional, as it excessively impacts the fundamental functioning of the Judicial branch. That being said, much of what Trump does is not constitutional, but nobody is going to do anything to stop him.
