I was intrigued to see AsciiDoc in the NIP as I was unfamiliar with it at the time, but the more I've looked at it and played with it, the less I like it for this. It doesn't read as nicely as markdown in raw form, it comes with a lot of features that don't make sense for individual articles themselves, and like you point out, the NIP isn't even compliant since wiki links override some of the anchor syntax.
If it's gonna be markdown, though, there does need to be more effort to specify flavor. There are tons of options, but none of the NIPs I've seen for markdown styled content specify a flavor. I'm fond of Pandoc's markdown since it has a rich feature set and pairs with a high quality conversion tool, but the important thing is making sure everyone is on the same page.

Lmao as if cops know what the fuck the law is half the time. Identifying as a cop explains everything. Of course you don't want anything getting in the way of you and your friends.
On the illegal voting, can you provide any evidence AT ALL that it happens on a statistically significant scale? I'm not talking about one or two documented cases of some idiot trying. I mean evidence that it's happening in enough numbers to actually impact anything. I've heard the claim, and I've heard it refuted, but somehow, nobody is ever able to produce evidence that it's a real problem.

That's just not true. From Firefox and Chromium browsers, I can share an image, and when I send it to someone over Signal or Discord, they get the image, not the link. Voyager and Jerboa for Lemmy both share the image directly, no link. Tusky for Mastodon can share images directly. The NextCloud app for Android lets me share an image from my cloud storage, not a link to it. The picture gallery on my phone can send images directly without hosting and then linking.
And all these use a nearly if not entirely identical UI for it, which heavily implies to me that there is some underlying feature of Android that all of these apps are using to offload the work of reimplementation.

I wish #Amethyst had support for sharing images and videos to other apps on my phone. I don't want to send a URL or note ID to a pic, I want to send the pic itself. I don't want to have to download to send stuff to people who aren't on #nostr yet.
Doesn't Android have built-in support to facilitate this? The UI to select a recipient is identical everywhere. Seems Amethyst could just use that.

Sure, not arguing against that. I'm arguing against the criminal and unconstitutional things being done to further that goal. You're not protecting your rights. You're trading them. You'll do it again and again, and every time, it'll be a net loss. Every time, you'll end up with less rights than you had before.
But hey, you got to act like terrible people to anyone that doesn't look like you. Maybe that's worth it to you?

How exactly are we going to get the worker protections afforded to us by OSHA regulations written in blood? We tried to work it out for millennia, and the only thing that worked was government intervention.
If you do physical labor for work, have all your appendages, no limp, and no preventable occupational diseases killing you, you can probably thank a government agency for that.

5000 years of warring civilizations with no fiat currencies: "Are we a joke to you?"
Like seriously, a cursory googling suggests unbacked currencies didn't really exist until less than a thousand years ago. We sure as hell managed to wage wars for millennia before then. Why would we be unable to figure it out again now?

Oh we're still on this 5 year old sore loser bullshit? If this was true, then why is it that when Trump filed literally over 50 lawsuits... He didn't provide one scrap of evidence? Why didn't he find and share any proof once he got back into office? Surely he still cares about the integrity of our elections and wants to fix it, right?

The whole "colleges spread communism" thing is such bullshit. First off, the people saying it can never define what the fuck communism is, it's just a word that scares them. Second, my entire course load across at least half a dozen subjects was very apolitical. History was the closest thing to political, and only in the sense that it didn't shy away from the embarrassing details republicans want to bury to bolster nationalistic pride.
If conservative ideology can't withstand the education I received, it's only because it doesn't stand up to informed scrutiny. But instead of taking that as a sign to look inward on their beliefs, conservatives claim it's a grand conspiracy. "Conservatives aren't peddling and/or consuming propaganda, the PROFESSORS are forcing it on our CHILDREN!" Bunch of suckers.

As opposed to before the UN, when we... Were constantly at war... And probably fought more wars than today overall...
Major powers don't typically directly fight anymore, so it seems like it at least isn't useless, just not a complete success.

From the article it kinda sounds like they have actual evidence that a local politician first noticed and drew attention to, and they investigated for... 7 months before arresting anyone? The information is sparse in the article, but it sounds like there's at least some basis for this. In which case, this sounds like typical right wing whining about having to follow the rules. Or am I missing something?

Look, I'm only explaining things because the OP's idea of confiscating nostr keys isn't some gotcha against communism. Everything else has been me with a basic understanding doing my best to field questions from people who apparently know even less than I do. I probably made some mistakes along the way. I'm not saying it's an improvement, just doing my best to explain the ideology as I understand it to people who seem to be asking honest questions. If you understand that I'm not advocating for it, why are you asking me about its sensibility like I'm a believer? We're already straining what I know, so I think it's best I stop speculating and recommend you not take every last word I said as gospel. It's a decent approximation, but I'm sure I could be corrected by an actual communist.

Kind of, yeah, but I think that'd only be done when they just need a little more, not a huge boost in production. What if they need every machine they can get running 24/7 because it's critical for farming in a drought that could cause a famine, or because it's part of a weapon needed in a defensive war? Modern printers are slow and can take hours to print large objects, so maybe you're willing to wake up every couple hours overnight to start a new piece for a good cause, but what if the printers they need finish a part in only 30 minutes? Are they willing to trust such critical production to run without direct oversight when people might slack off? What if hobbyists can produce enough, but the logistics of shipping them from all over the US (just as a hypothetical, it's big and poses logistical problems) would put excessive strain on postal services or take way more work to properly coordinate? In low stakes scenarios, enticing people to contribute with pay may be sufficient, but when the tool and what it makes is critical, bigger steps may be viewed as necessary and within the authority of the state to take, and they might include confiscating the tools and redistributing them to directly increase production.

I understand the core ideas, but different attempts to implement will differ in the finer details. I can approximate the communist response, but there's a wealth of literature and thought on the subject that I haven't explored. I read the Communist Manifesto to understand the basic tenets, and that's it.
I think you could produce and sell goods, but some implementations of a communist state may differ.
As for disrupting infrastructure, I'll give an example. Let's say we develop nice, fast 3D printers that can print metal in a durable way. Say there's some widget used in future tech that can only be 3D printed and must be made of metal for some reason. Under a communist state, if production capacity wasn't meeting the needs of the people, the government would have the authority to confiscate capable printers and reallocate them to production of those critical goods. It should be noted, however, that most hobbyist printers *today* wouldn't be fast enough to be worth confiscating even if they could work with the right materials, but even if that changes, it won't change the fact that there's often a huge difference between a tool for an end user and a tool for mass production, and communism is primarily concerned with the latter, not the former.
