Hey, all, Massive Bookshop in Western Massachusetts is a volunteer-run online bookstore that exists to raise money for "bail funds, current and former prisoners, volunteer jail support and books-to-prisoners groups, and various other mutual aid and community-building projects." Neo-nazi music distributors in five different European countries were raided simultaneously yesterday. Four men in Germany are being investigated for membership in a criminal organization, and the homes of eight other people were also searched, also in Germany.
Not a lot of details beyond that: no names have been released and authorities haven't even named the record label they were going after. Interesting development, though. Music sales have long been a reliable source of income for neo-nazi networks. That's what has kept Blood & Honour afloat for a long time, and it was by far the largest source of revenue for 'Turner Diaries' author William Pierce's National Alliance.

Really good reporting by Jordan Green on a crew of young white nationalist Republicans working to get members elected to local and state-level offices across Florida. This follows on Green's prior reporting about Marshall Rawson, a former League of the South member and Unite the Right attendee who won the Republican primary in a race for a north Florida state House seat in a safe Republican district.

A network of Florida Republicans with links to hate groups and the violent 2017 Unite the Right rally is mobilizing to seat members on local government boards and run for elected office in the Sunshine State and beyond.
Members of American Restoration Coalition, or ARC, who count among their ranks a city council member and two planning and zoning board members, openly promote Patriot Front on their social media pages. Some of the Republican activists also belong to a secretive “white Christian fitness crew” with a paramilitary aspect that has shared a gym with white supremacist Active Clubs.
Members of the group, described by its executive director as “a strategic level organizing apparatus for Heritage Americans,” knocked on doors for Marshall Rawson in July and August, helping him win an upset victory in the Republican primary for a north-central Florida state House seat. Rawson attended the violent Unite the Right rally in 2017 and has a long history of involvement in the white nationalist movement.

Maja T., who has been in prison in Hungary for two and a half years for alleged acts of violence against literal neo-nazis, has made a new statement before a Hungarian appellate court. In it, they describe being assaulted in their cell by five prison guards on the pretext that they were "violently reluctant" to hand over their "suspiciously feminine" clothing, as well as the lingering effects of the trauma produced by such a drastic feeling of powerlessness.
They also write about the support (above all from Maja's family) that has helped them cope with it all. Most of all, it's a reminder that Maja still exists and that our incarcerated comrades still need support. Go check it out.

In anticipation of the massive stream of jingo-patriotic nonsense we are, in fact, currently being inundated with in the US, I wrote up a thing a few weeks ago to try to counteract some of that. It addresses, on one hand, my own on-the-ground experience in NYC on Sept. 11, 2001 and during the weeks and months that followed, but also the way that the collective grief and trauma of so many New Yorkers was co-opted, manipulated, and abused by powerful white guys with the emotional depth of Mr. Potato Head.
It's a hard thing to write about in part because it was a hard thing to live through, but also because it affected so many people in so many different ways. There's no way to do justice to it all, and there's still so much more to say. This, ultimately, is sort of a compromise between what I'd like the world to know and what I think people will actually take in.

Yiannopoulos has frequently called for aggressive immigration enforcement in posts on his X account over the last year.
After Trump returned to the White House on a campaign to dramatically increase deportations of undocumented people, Yiannopoulos insisted the administration needed to make good on that promise.
“There is one concrete thing we must insist on this administration delivering,” Yiannopoulos said in a June 2025 X post. “It matters a lot more than debts measured in imaginary money. We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters.”
In September 2025, nearly two weeks after a Mexican man was fatally shot by ICE in Minneapolis, Yiannopoulos called for “total legal immunity for ICE agents when they’re on duty.”
He had also called for ICE checkpoints in heavily trafficked areas in California, like gas stations and intersections, and “on the spot deportation for anyone who can’t prove they are in the US legally.”

Decoherence Media has just published a really detailed look at the arc of now-defunct neo-nazi accelerationist group Automata, which seems to have had a small network operating in western North Carolina, Tennessee, and northern Alabama. They also evidently had leading members in Massachusetts and Florida.
This article gets into all kinds of connections they had, ranging from the early influence of right-wing pastor Rafael Cruz (father of Sen. Ted Cruz) on Automata founder Andrew Nary to crossover membership with the brutal online 746 network, which has often encouraged children to engage in acts of self-harm and share documentation of it.
Automata sought to create a small white ethnostate in western North Carolina.
Members have also had cross-membership with Patriot Front, White Lives Matter, various active clubs, Blood Tribe, 2119 Crew, and the National Guard.
Member Kai Nix pleaded guilty last year to selling weapons he stole from his post while serving in the US Army, and members Aiden Cuevas and Brandon Crews were arrested in Jan. 2025 for breaking into a nuclear power facility in Mississippi. More recently, Cuevas and Nary were arrested in January of this year for buying guns with the serial numbers destroyed, seemingly as part of an effort to kill one of their own members who they suspected of snitching. Totally normal stuff.

The first director who comes to mind is Sergio Leone. He's famous for the big, wide panoramic shots (like David Lean), but he also knew how to use the whole screen to create tension and, frankly, just make beautifully composed images. This shot is from the opening scene of 'Once Upon A Time In the West'. The men are all perfectly spaced both horizontally and also in terms of depth, and the spacing really forces you to wonder who's going to draw first and how is that going to play out (because it is a genre film and obviously someone's about to get shot). Time is also a factor -- he lingers on this shot and stretches the anticipation out, so we can't ignore that. But I think the composition itself is part of the effect.
I'm not actually sure if I've ever seen a Chris Nolan movie. It's not that I wouldn't, but there are an awful lot of movies in the world, and I'm just not that interested in superheroes. So I can't really compare them, but this is what comes to mind.

For whatever it's worth, Patriot Front leader Thomas Rousseau has made his general contempt for his own minions pretty clear in some of his private comments that have been leaked. He sees himself as above them, and he has worked hard to make sure that that's structurally the case within the organization: as a condition of membership, they're required to continually buy his merch and prove their loyalty by spreading the propaganda materials that he personally designed.
That contempt is illustrated pretty neatly by his requirement that they all give up whatever other plans they might have wanted to make at home for the fourth of July and travel to DC for the privilege of marching around and chanting his slogans while wearing dark blue, long-sleeved shirts, boots, long pants (many of them in heavy, Carhartt-style work pants), and gaiters as temperatures were threatening to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit. And all of this while their social interactions are effectively limited only to other members of the organization for several days (when they mobilize like this, they usually camp somewhere together where they can "train").
So however intimidating they may appear as a group, it's worth remembering that these people are just fucking miserable. And that's before we even address how pathetic and corrosive it is to spend so much of your time obsessively loathing people who don't look like you. As is so often the case, their attempts at displaying power really demonstrate the opposite, if you look a little closer.

The Guardian understands a so-called hitlist of addresses has been circulating among far-right groups since August 2025 and was sent to the PSNI [Police Service of Northern Ireland] in January 2026. The addresses were among the locations targeted during this week’s anti-immigration disorder.
The Guardian has seen a screenshot of an email sent to a PSNI inspector in January attaching one such list. Campaigners say a similar list has been circulated on social media and messaging apps in recent days. The PSNI warned earlier this week against the sharing of home addresses, adding that doing so had left families and residents “extremely distressed”.
The reports sent to the PSNI focused heavily on activity in the Newtownabbey area north of Belfast, which has been at the centre of some of the most serious disorder in recent days. Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, John Blair, the Alliance assembly member for South Antrim, said the area had seen “a mob on a rampage of violence and destruction”.
The reports sent to police also cited a Facebook post stating that HMOs [houses in multiple occupation] in the Glengormley area “will now be treated as fair game and dealt with accordingly”. It went on to state: “Anyone caught funding or helping these animals in being housed will be condemned as equally guilty.”
Glengormley was among the areas affected by anti-immigration disorder over the past few days, with masked men setting homes on fire.

A man who goes by “Chud the Builder” and livestreams himself saying racially derogatory statements to Black people in public settings was taken into custody after being involved in a shooting outside a Tennessee courthouse on Wednesday, authorities said.
Dalton Eatherly and an unidentified man were involved in a confrontation that resulted in gunfire, District Attorney Robert J. Nash said in a statement. But Nash wouldn’t say why Eatherly was at that courthouse in Clarksville, what he was doing or what prompted the confrontation.
Police didn’t provide the race of the other man. However, a witness who said she saw him loaded into an ambulance described him as Black.
Both men were transported to hospitals for medical treatment and were stable, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

A detailed look at the experience of a woman who had state permission to be in the US, but was detained during a regular check in to process her migration status anyway and subsequently had a miscarriage in ICE custody.
It's impossible to say with 100% certainty whether or not she would have miscarried anyway, but the conditions of her detention included inadequate food and regular disruptions to sleep, in addition to the constant underlying stress of simply being in custody and not knowing what was in store for her and her family. This article does a really good job of detailing the total indifference -- if not outright hostility -- on the part of this "pro-life" regime to even the most basic requests for care.

Spec. Jakob Marcoulier, 22, was charged April 23 with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce. The FBI obtained audio recordings of comments Marcoulier allegedly made on the messaging platform Discord in which he threatened to act in the coming months “if the Jews still have reign over our government,” the indictment stated. Investigators pulled the recording from Discord servers.
An FBI affidavit said agents identified Marcoulier’s voice on the recording telling others that, “after this deployment … I am going to walk into a synagogue with my AK, with a 75-round drum mag, and all of my extra mags, with my level four plates, and my haka helmet that’s three plus, and I am going to kill every single Jew.”

In the wake of last week's indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), there have been a number of public reactions from prominent far-right actors across a pretty broad spectrum. I've written up a relatively short summary of some of those responses.
The short version is that the underlying assumption that they all share -- and that the indictment validates -- is that, on one hand, there is no real threat from the far right, racism and white supremacy aren't real, and political violence only ever comes from the left; on the other hand, groups like the SPLC and others on the liberal-left spectrum are committed to ratcheting up fear of the far right for their own political and financial benefit.
That theory is just fine for the people who are the most detached from consensus reality (people like Alex Jones and Laura Loomer), because they've largely been committed to the same argument for a long time. For them, groups like Patriot Front can only ever exist as "fed ops" that don't actually involve people who really believe what they say.
However, it doesn't sit as well with the self-identified white nationalists and other neo-fascists, who basically feel emasculated by the implication that their thoughts and actions are only ever allowed to exist at the discretion of liberal and left-wing entities.

Vice President JD Vance’s ties to the far-right have been well-reported—from writing a promotional blurb in a book from Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec (who has mocked the Holocaust and repeatedly used the neo-Nazi “1488” dogwhistle) to his reported friendship with neo-monarchist Curtis Yarvin (who has written that there’s “nothing wrong with a military coup" and “jokingly” advocated converting the poor of San Francisco into biodiesel). Vance’s far-right connections on X (formerly known as Twitter), however, have been less well-covered.
The Vice President started following Yarvin on X in April 2025, but this activity is not an outlier, Decoherence Media has found. Besides Yarvin and alleged sex trafficker Andrew Tate, J.D. Vance follows several far-right or antisemitic accounts on X—ranging from influential voices in the “new-right” like Bronze Age Pervert, to smaller operations like Rogue Scholar Press, an independent publisher that publishes books by fascist and proto-fascist authors.
Yarvin and Tate are public figures, but many of the accounts followed by Vance are pseudonymous and lack any public profile beyond their activity on X.

I wouldn't say that the right doesn't make any effort to understanding the left or "hear both sides." It's just that they do it in a totally bad faith way. They're constantly co-opting the left's jargon and concepts. French New Right figurehead Alain de Benoist published a book a number of years ago now called 'Marx from the Right.' Their whole idea of "metapolitics" is (ostensibly) borrowed from Gramsci. There was a whole international far-right "anti-colonial" movement in the 1970s-80s (addressed to some extent in the article at the link). The whole idea of a "third position" is that they're not exactly left wing, not exactly right wing, but rather something else -- something that "takes the best of both." Hell, there's a whole neo-nazi movement that calls itself "national bolshevism."
So it's not that they don't hear us. They do. It's just that they have a parasitic relationship with us: they want ideas that work (because they have very few of those on their own), they want interesting, catchy aesthetics (which they have a real hard time coming up with by themselves), and they *really* want to "convert" some of us (which is why people really need to stop sharing stuff from Candace Owens or Tucker Carlson just because they criticize Israel).

I've been working in German- and Spanish-into-English for nearly 20 years. "Don't make doing the thing you love to do into your job" is such a weird piece of conventional wisdom. It'd be great if people could just take the next step of understanding it as a pretty powerful condemnation of labor under capitalism.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say we'd pretty much all love to do the thing we love to do on the regular, rather than just trying to squeeze in time for it on weekends. I don't want to get all Bob Black about it, but damn, I want to live in that world. That would be an objectively better world. Like, by definition. As opposed to living in fear of losing jobs that we usually don't actually like much anyway.

Really good new article from Shane Burley on evangelical author Joe Rigney and his campaign against empathy as a Christian virtue. It's almost a cliche to describe fascists as defined by their lack of empathy, but there's a lot of truth to it. So it's striking that a guy who has become so influential over the past year or two has done it specifically by providing a framework for justifying a deep aversion to empathy as a core part of (a very particular version of) Christian practice.
Burley talks about this in terms of Rigney's sharp break with the widespread affinity for the state of Israel among far-right Christians in the US, and he's right to do so. I've said it a lot, but it's worth repeating that the most serious fault line on the US right today is between the ones who are just cuckoo for Israel and the ones who are just overt antisemites.
But it's also worth addressing (and this is something Burley doesn't really get at) the fact that opposition to empathy as a Christian value has been with us for a long time in the US, primarily as part of the rationale for unbridled top-down authoritarianism. The whole "bootstraps" thing has always been that: we can't possibly offer a social safety net of any kind, because that would just make people soft and unwilling to let themselves be exploited further. Every angry parent who ever said "This is for your own good" while beating their kid has been lying to themselves (and to their kid) about the importance of suppressing their own empathy for some kind of greater good. And it's not limited to Christians either: it's also the underlying meaning of Ben Shapiro's slogan "facts don't care about your feelings."
At any rate, like so many things in the US today, this isn't a new bad thing. It's an old bad thing that's now being ratcheted up to cartoonish levels.

This is about the saddest story I've heard yet about Trump-era anti-immigrant enforcement, and that's a really high bar.
Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a Rohingya refugee from Myanmar who spoke virtually no English and suffered from near total blindness and other health issues, was arrested in Buffalo, New York, last year in what sounds like a case of severe police overreaction. He was handed over to Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) on Feb. 19, and they dropped him off at a Buffalo coffee shop without alerting his family or seemingly doing anything to help him find his way home. Details of how he died are scarce, but most people who know only one thing about Buffalo know that it's fucking cold and snowy in the winter. He was from a place with a tropical climate and left on his own, unable to communicate, unable to orient himself, and with no one around who knew him after spending the past year in jail for what sounds like cops violently freaking out on someone who couldn't understand their directions -- a person who was in the US in the first place because he had fled genocidal violence halfway around the world.
There are so many horror stories about the US border regime, but I think this one has really broken something in me. It's the total indifference to another person's vulnerability and the sheer loneliness of dying under those circumstances. A complete life -- 56 years of experience, relationships, emotions, ideas, knowledge, beliefs -- all thrown away like trash. The name Nurul Amin Shah Alam needs to be remembered and honored, but even that is so inadequate. Loss is loss and there's no making up for it. He had a wife and two kids, and now he's just gone.
As far as the broad spectrum of people responsible, I have no words. Such horror.

This past Tuesday, antifascist activist Maja T. was sentenced by a court in Budapest to eight years in prison. The trial appears to have been largely bereft of substantive evidence, but that's Hungarian law in the present moment.

Another detainee has died in ICE custody. Some outlets are presenting this as a kind of he said/she said situation, but the preliminary autopsy report says it was homicide. Will be, uh, interesting to see what changes in the final report, but no one is contesting the fact that there was a struggle between Geraldo Lunas Campos and staff at an ICE detention facility. If this is their idea of saving lives...
EDIT: I'd like to add that it doesn't actually matter what bad things Lunas may have done in his life. If he actually did what he was convicted of (which isn't guaranteed), then yeah, he may have been a pretty bad dude. And still he didn't deserve to be suffocated to death in a painful chokehold by agents of the state. I really can't think of anything he could have done in his life that would justify that.

A Cuban immigrant died in a Texas immigration detention facility earlier this month during an altercation with guards, and the local medical examiner has indicated that his death will likely be classified as a homicide.
The federal government has provided a differing account surrounding the Jan. 3 death of Geraldo Lunas Campos, saying the detainee was attempting suicide and staff tried to save him.

Unfortunately, it's probably worse than that. In Guantanamo Bay, where the Bush II administration stuck people it captured in Afghanistan and who it (often arbitrarily) designated as "enemy combatants," several imprisoned people eventually went on hunger strike after being stuck there for a while without any real chance of a trial. So what US officials did was force feeding tubes up their noses against their will, a painful and humiliating process.
Because of that, I don't believe anyone actually died on hunger strike there. They may have died eventually anyway, had they held out, but it would have been far more protracted, far more painful, and ultimately less effective: it's hard to maintain people's attention for a hunger strike that lasts six weeks, so imagine if it were to last several months. If memory serves, all the hunger strikers gave up eventually.

When I see stories about Atomwaffen Division (AWD) or The Base, I often have to take them with a grain of salt. On one hand, they're well known neo-nazis with a scary reputation, and people who are into the sensationalistic aspect of all of that never seem to get tired of hyping them. Sometimes that means making them look bigger or more widespread than they actually are, which is ultimately not very helpful.
On the other hand, nazi accelerationists have actually killed people and plotted (and likely carried out) some fairly serious infrastructure attacks; organizations like AWD, the Base, and the various groups they've devolved into and/or inspired are, in fact, real and dangerous.
This article gets at some of the real potential danger they and their ilk represent. The neo-nazi dream of fomenting a white ethnostate separatist movement has been around for a long time, and it has mostly produced some embarrassingly weak efforts at mobilization (and some possibly even more embarrassing attempts at revolutionary literature – yes, I'm talking about the late Harold Covington, may he rest in piss).
Part of why this particular moment is more dangerous than previous periods when the call for an ethnostate has come back into fashy fashion is (do I even have to say it?), as the headline suggests, US law enforcement agencies have all but entirely given up on even looking at violence from the right. This has always been the case to a greater or lesser degree, but at this point they are, as German antifascists sometimes say, almost completely "blind in the right eye."
But also, as this article mentions but doesn't really flesh out too much, fascist movements tend to grow and become more aggressive in the wake of wars, when there are lots of demobilized, often traumatized men who are desensitized to killing and are looking for a way to make their own lives meaningful again in a post-war environment. You see it in the first wave of the KKK after the US Civil War, the second wave of the KKK (which started in the teens, but really blew up in the early 1920s after WWI), the proto-fascist Freikorps units that were active in various parts of Germany immediately after WWI, the onset of Italian fascism, the white power groups that formed in the US after the war in Vietnam as well as the Vietnam vets who went to "Rhodesia," Nicaragua, and elsewhere to fight as mercenaries against anticolonial movements, etc., etc., etc.
Now there’s a whole cadre of neo-nazis who have fought on both sides in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine since 2014 and others who fought in Afghanistan and Iraq. (That’s in addition to the toy soldiers who just like dressing up and shooting at things in the woods, which sounds dumb, but some of them have also killed people.)
Anyways, yeah, we do ultimately need to take it seriously when people in leadership positions within groups including/inspired by The Base, AWD, Terrorgram, etc., say that they’re particularly committed to organizing some bullshit in the US right now while the FBI just doesn’t give much of a shit about them.

Back in the day, it was impossible for an article in any kind of US mainstream press to mention anarchists without using scare quotes. They also routinely used some kind of discrediting term like "self-described" or even "so-called" as though the existence of actual anarchists was just impossible. "Black-clad" was also a nearly obligatory part of the formula -- they could never even bring themselves to say "dressed in black" or "wearing black," for whatever reason. So you'd regularly get constructions like:
The black-clad, self-described "anarchists" then [served everyone lunch/punched the nazis/administered first aid/whatever].
Today it's more widely recognized that scary anarchists exist (though still sometimes "self-described"), but "anti-capitalists" seem to be starting to get the scare quotes, even when they are also anarchists (whose clothing doesn't seem to matter as much anymore):
The anarchist "anti-capitalists" [organized a clothing swap/had a potluck/were surprisingly polite].
It doesn't mean much, but it's one small indication of just what kind of ideological frameworks can be acknowledged -- what people are even allowed to be -- within the narrow range of imagination of the people whose job it is explain the world to the rest of us. It clearly says more about the writer (and/or editor) than about the people they're writing about.

In one sense, the existence of "far-right influences among Project 2025 applicants" might be the most obvious thing I've ever posted on social media.
On the other hand, the details are pretty interesting. For all the managerial ineptitude of the Trump administration, the continuity between it and leaders in both the intellectual and on-the-ground brawler contingents of far-right activism in the US is striking. Some of the people mentioned here cite Carl Schmitt (albeit in the most superficial way possible), use jargon like "Heritage Americans," and talk about a left-wing "all out war" on the right, thereby justifying all-out reciprocity.
Others point to the influence Jared Taylor has had on their thinking. Taylor (I like to call him "Nazi Thurston Howell," but that's just me) is best known as the leading figure behind the American Renaissance website and the annual white nationalist conference by the same name, but he has also been a spokesman for the Council of Conservative Citizens, in which capacity he helped inspire the 2015 white supremacist mass shooting in a Black church in Charleston, South Carolina, which left nine people dead. Taylor has also more recently been openly cavorting with members of Patriot Front as well as "active club" founder Rob Rundo.
This article doesn't delve too deeply into it, but it also hints at reaffirming antisemitism as a (maybe "the") major fault line within the US far right today. Several of the people mentioned here are at least very comfortable with some pretty deeply antisemitic ideas. However Taylor, for instance, says he opposes antisemitism and has been very open to the ideas and participation of far-right Jews in white nationalist spaces, and members of the Heritage Foundation have clearly taken a "philo-semitic" position in a variety of areas.
Anyways, like I said, nothing earth-shattering or all that surprising here, but I do think it's important to keep tabs on the details of just what kind of "leadership" we're all being subjected to. Worth reading.

Update on the Prairieland case from their support committee:
This week, defendants Autumn Hill, Zachary Evetts, Benjamin Song, Meagan Morris, Ines Soto, Liz Soto, Savanna Batten, Maricela Rueda, and Daniel Sanchez Estrada were federally indicted together on the same case. These defendants, except for Sanchez Estrada, were indicted on a range of charges including riot, material support of terrorism, use of explosive, attempted murder, and discharge of a deadly weapon. Sanchez Estrada was indicted on corruptly concealing a document and conspiracy to conceal a document. Defendants Joy Gibson, Nathan Baumann, Lynette Sharp, Susan Kent, and Rebecca Morgan were charged with a single count of material support of terrorism. These defendants have signed plea deals and will formally enter a guilty plea on Wednesday, November 19 and Monday, November 24. The trial date for the federal case against Evetts, Hill, and others will likely be set in by the end of the month, and we expect the date to be in late December 2025 or early January 2026.
On the state case, Janette Goering had a writ of habeas corpus hearing on a reduction to her $5 million bond. She was denied the bond reduction with no explanation. Susan Kent pled not guilty to her state charges and has a state jury trial set for March 2026. Dario Sanchez’s state jury trial is still set for January 2026.

About 50 people attended a neo-nazi networking event in Vancouver, BC, last July. The folks at the Canadian Anti-Hate Network (CAHN) sent a photographer, and now about 20 of them have been identified, while the others have at least had their photos taken for further research.
Participants included people from various groups, including active clubs and the white nationalist organization Second Sons Canada.

There's a neo-nazi music festival called "Goystock" happening today. It's being organized by "Goyim Defense League (GDL)/HateClub member Jeremy Brokaw, alias HolyDiver, of Zanesville, Ohio, and is scheduled to take place in a warehouse he owns.
The event is supposed to involve a number of bands/musicians tied to GDL from across the US and Canada.
It is apparently private and indoors, but is apt to bring neo-nazis into the area, so people should be warned.

For folks in NYC, there's a benefit party for the Refugee Translation Project (RTP) on Sunday 11/16. Among others, an old friend of mine, DJ Stylus, is going to be spinning, which he doesn't do very often anymore, so it should be a real treat.

Oh yeah, there are so many things about NYC (and probably about big cities in general) that are so much better than pretty much anywhere. Sometimes I want to tell people about it, then I think "it can be our secret!" and then again I think, "no, it's New York fucking City. Nothing about it is a secret."
Incidentally, I once saw Eli Wallach as he was walking toward the stairs going down into the station at Union Square just a couple of years before he died. He had just said goodbye to someone in a pretty vigorous way, and he looked really happy. I remember thinking, "That's the guy I want to be when I'm that old."

The board of conservative Harvard magazine The Salient has suspended publication pending a review after complaints about an article it published. The article was written by a student contributor and borrowed language from a speech given by (surprise!) Adolf Hitler to the Reichstag, used overtly "blood and soil" rhetoric, and proclaimed that Muslims have "absolutely no place in Western Europe."
What the article linked below strangely doesn't even address is that the magazine's editor-in-chief defended the article he published by claiming that no one on the staff recognized the Hitler thing, yet in doing so he also complains about "rootless cosmopolitanism" -- a very well established bit of antisemitic jargon -- and "global homogenization," which sounds suspiciously like a way to say "globohomo" -- also a known antisemitic and, obviously, homophobic term popular among white nationalists, "identitarians," and neo-nazis -- without it being noticed by most people. (These last points were raised in the thread at the second link below.)
All in all this magazine sounds pretty nazi to me and should just be burned to the ground, but what do I know?

People who grew up in nice liberal or even leftist households very often seem to have little to no understanding (or even basic empathy) for those of us who are engaged in the lifelong project of undoing the fucked up ideologies we were brought up with in reactionary environments. It's endlessly frustrating.
In recent years I've been trying to operate on the assumption that the direction a person is heading is more important than where that person is right now. Are they less fucked up than they were a year ago? Are they really making a good-faith effort? If the answer is yes, then we need to support and encourage that, which doesn't mean giving them a pass, but it does mean things like having actual dialog and not just instant recourse to shaming them. That mostly just leads people to shut down and stop trying, usually just so that we can demonstrate our own moral superiority. It's generally not a very helpful approach.

Right on time, the Decoherence Media folks have followed up with new IDs of several people from the nazi accelerationist "Rope Culture" server as well as some additional info on already well known people.
One is Canadian Russian Orthodox seminary grad Alexandre Jacob Duiven, who was a rather prolific online presence for a while under the alias Florian Geyer.
Another is Iron March co-moderator Danilo Totarvaj (aka Змајевит, aka "The Serb"), whose LinkedIn account says he currently works at a small video game development company.
Mikkel Hangaard (aka Natt Danelaw) wrote that he was in a band called Æresblod and "a proud member of Danskernes Parti,” an anti-immigrant party in Denmark. He's also the guy who registered the domain for the Iron March zine.
Virginia Libertarian Party member Nathan Larson also wrote to the forum looking for signatures on a petition that would allow racist mass murderer Dylann Roof to run for a seat in the US House of Representatives. (Incidentally, this is -- surprise! -- not the first nazi revelation from within the US Libertarian Party. She's scrubbed a lot of info from the web, but you may still be able to find some details about South Carolina party activist Kat Snyder, if you search.)
Travis Frey (aka "In Hoc Signo Vinces") used to be a captain at a private ICE detention center in Nevada. What's that? A nazi at the intersection of privatized incarceration and state-sponsored racism? It's all true. And he submitted an article titled "The Greater Holy War," which really fits the worst parts of the zeitgeist.
Finally, Lithuanian self-identified "National Socialist" Lukas Baltrušis Baltrušaitis (aka Teliavelis) regularly corresponded with Iron March leader Slavros and was a member of the neo-nazi group Misanthropic Division. He also helped promote Lietuvių tautinio jaunimo sąjunga (Lithuanian National Youth Union or LTJS), a far-right nationalist organization.
All of these people have extensive records of explicit racist, homophobic, antisemitic, and misogynist commentary and, obviously, by their very participation in (or administration of) the Iron March forum, they were helping to raise the temperature among some of the most violence-prone neo-nazis in Europe and North America.
There's a lot more detail in the article, and the authors did a nice job of threading it all together into a coherent narrative, so it's worth reading in full. But I wanted to put their names up here because, well, that's how it works. They're now in the "find out" stage.

The folks at Decoherence Media have put together a searchable database made from previously unaddressed server info from the big Iron March leak a few years ago. This is a big deal for anyone doing research on nazi accelerationists, and they say that subsequent posts about it are going to include reports on specific neo-nazis.
If you're unfamiliar, Iron March was an online forum between 2011-2017. It's been described as "the Velvet Underground of accelerationism," which, if you don't get the reference, basically means that not many people knew about it at the time, but everyone who did went on to start some kind of notable crew of violent scumfucks. Most notoriously, it's where Atomwaffen Division first came together.
There was a major leak of Iron March data in 2019, which prompted all kinds of new research and a bunch of nazis were identified. Fun! But apparently the leak also included the entire server for the site of the Iron March in-house online zine, which (according to the authors) was never looked into before. So now they've created a searchable database out of that info. More fun!
Anyways, that's the crash course on this. The article basically reviews all of that with a lot more detail. They're promising more on specific nazis, so stay tuned. They're a new outfit I had never heard of before, but they seem to be connected with legit researchers, so stay tuned...

I've just been reminded that today is the anniversary of the murder of Brad Will.
There have been lots of other acts of unjustifiable violence and murder in the nearly two decades since then (two decades? really?), but this one is still the hardest for me personally because of where he sits at the intersection of senseless death and closeness to me.
After he died, a lot of people who knew him joked about how many times he had been arrested. Personally, I was impressed by how many times he *didn't* get arrested. If you read the article below, I was standing on the sidewalk right next to him just before he hauled his bike across the roofs of those two parked cars and rode away from a gaggle of cops who were eager to put their hands on him. I can only describe it as cinematic. It would be hard not to be impressed by the audacity of it. I wasn't there when he stopped (delayed, at least) the demolition of that squat, but it instantly became a legendary moment in modern Lower East Side history, the kind that old timers will keep talking about for another few decades at least. All in all, he just seemed permanent and indestructible. He'd been shot at before while working with the Landless Movement in Brazil, why should reporting on a teachers' strike in Oaxaca be any different?
But it was different, and we lost a real force of nature that day.
The last time I saw him, I was riding my bike to my yuppie job in the Financial District, and he was riding (obviously) the wrong way down the same street. We smiled, nodded, kind of giggled, high-fived, and kept going. I like to imagine I can still feel his hand in the same way that I memorized what my cat felt like when I knew she was dying, but it's just wishful thinking. I assumed Brad would be with us for a long time. He should've been. Why would anyone have thought differently?

It looks like the "peace police" did an actual police, by which I mean they overreacted and killed an innocent person.
At a 50501 demonstration in Salt Lake City, the organizers effectively deputized a group of "peacekeepers" with guns. Their claim is that, once the demo was underway, they saw someone walking into the crowd with an AR-15 (Utah is an open-carry state) and thought that they were about to witness, in their words, a "mass-casualty event". So they shot first, hitting both a bystander, Arthur Folasa Ah Loo (known as Afa), and the guy with the AR-15, a young activist named Gamboa. Afa, unfortunately, died.
Gamboa, on the other hand, is very much alive. He's so alive that, after getting treated for his wound at the hospital, he was arrested and charged with murder, despite not firing a shot.
The 50501 people immediately took to Bluesky to praise their own "peacekeepers" and describe Gamboa as a "depraved and disturbed domestic terrorist," only to quietly delete that a few hours later. Now they're starting to walk it all back with a "We don't know what happened..."

I mean, I'd like to agree with the 50501 people when they say that, if there were no guns at the demo, this wouldn't have happened. At the same time, *it was their own people with guns who did the shooting*.
I got a lot of other thoughts about this as well, but I'm going to keep them in my head for now. It's late, and the world is too crazy to deal with at the moment.

That lawsuit that five leading Proud Boys filed against the US Gov last week? The one where they're asking for, I believe, $1 million each for their alleged mistreatment after they participated in Jan. 6?
It turns out they hired domestic abuser, self-declared demi-god, and goat-blood drinker Augustus Sol Invictus as their lawyer.
No, I couldn't believe it either.
But wait! There's more!
The judge in the case has ordered that Mr. Sol Invictus show written proof that he hasn't been suspended from the bar in Florida's Middle District. Apparently that bar has a rule requiring attorneys to report if/when they've been convicted of a felony, which -- I guess I'm going to start calling him "A-Sol" because it kind of sounds like "asshole" -- A-Sol failed to do after he was convicted in January: a court in Virginia found him guilty of using fire as a means of intimidation due to his participation in the Unite the Right tiki-torch march. He was supposed to report it to the bar, but didn't. As a result, he will most likely not be allowed to try this case, the fucking idjit.
To be fair, though, I think he's got a couple of restraining orders against him and various other legal woes of his own. He must've just gotten distracted or something.
So yeah. Law and order. Cool story, bruh.
