RE: https://mamot.fr/@pluralistic/117059169198667999
"Many of the most skilled, ambitious people in every field want to make the world a better place. Every city, county and state could use a squadron of Public Interest Technology Crews (what Doge should have been), and there's an army of coders who would give anything for the chance to give everything to make a better world." --- An attest to the intellectual virtue of almost every coder, technologist, tradesperson, accountant, and engineer I've ever had and still have the pleasure to work with.

I never realized that "starring" a song was like an upvote to you! I will be a lot more enthusiastic about picking favorites now. And in any case, thank you for not requiring us to log in. Quality shines where bots and ratios have no say.

This is where Luigi has made a difference. These stories never saw the light before. People have suffered, people have died , people have gone bankrupt for the sake of grift and profits in a "rent seeking" type of industry! I don't condone murder, but if the same people who condone atrocities and war crimes in Gaza and elsewhere call it the "fog of War", we can expect that they call his deed to have been comitted in the fog of a war for justice as well.

well kept secret: Canadians pretend to have a US leaning identity (larger homes, cars..) but under that veil have pride in a more European socety. A way to stick it up to US tariffs would be to implement more EU style consumer protection laws, including tech & exploitative privacy protection. Whenever you make things better for the people you make it worse for US money power. So think about that when US money handlers meddle in upcoming Canadian and European elections.

yeah, there are twisted aspects of IP laws, but imo it's not all bad. It certainly fosters innovation by "small" players. However, a lot of it can be broken up to benefit Canadian consumers and businesses today. The much referenced article by @npub1fdr…lvhs highlights a few. I think it's wrong to piss on Tesla owners or workers. Better to tweak consumer & IP laws to unshakle Canada from conditions, commissions and subscriptions, that just feed US corps.

yup, and Canada can explain this as a temporary relief from US tariffs. Start with IP protected through Nafta rather than by local IP (CIPO) filings. That will hurt US corps fast and benefit Canadians almost instantly.

there will be organic human contact hours at the library, Tuesdays 10 to 12. Also in the Summer at the farmers' market, at the back table. There's also a kiosk at the mall, but that one has an AI listening in to improve the model training using organic human contact infusion.

it would be more fair to the reader to mention that these crack times apply to stolen password hash files. That's why, in the case of an IT security breach, you get a notice to change your password. Most login interfaces have a max attempt limit and a timer, in which case this table does not apply at all.

this is a reminder that such wealth is accumulated with generous help from government aid, available only to few, and taxing corporations and their owners handsomely is morally and ethically required. It finances the education and other infrastructure needed for these companies to thrive.

methods from well vetted libraries can handle thorny situations better than all those who assume that "variable" is synonymous to "integer". Those in a rush to jump to conclusions are well served with better protection.
