BIP85 for Mortals
How to stop managing ten recovery phrases with a single one
If you have ever had more than one bitcoin wallet, you already know the problem. Each one has its own recovery words, its own piece of paper stored somewhere safe, its own mental note about where it is and what it is called. With two wallets, it is manageable. With five, it starts to become chaos. With ten, it is a time bomb.
BIP85 is the answer the Bitcoin ecosystem took years to formalize. The idea is simple and powerful at the same time: instead of managing a collection of independent seeds, you generate them all from a single one. One master seed. The rest are derived from it in a mathematical, predictable way, without any of the derived ones compromising the original.
Why having multiple wallets makes sense — and why it is a problem
Separating funds is a reasonable practice. One wallet for everyday use with small amounts, another for long-term savings that you do not touch, one for family-related funds, another to test a new app without risking anything important. That separation is good self-custody hygiene.
The problem is the operational cost. Every new wallet means a new seed phrase: between 12 and 24 words that represent complete access to those funds. Losing them is the same as losing the wallet. If someone finds them, that someone has the wallet. So they need to be stored properly, in secure and separate physical locations, and you need to remember which set of words belongs to which wallet.
Most people end up simplifying in dangerous ways: reusing phrases, storing several in the same place, or simply giving up on separating funds because the maintenance is too tedious. The result is worse than not having tried.
BIP85 solves that conflict at the root.
What exactly is a seed, and why does it matter?
When you create a bitcoin wallet, the device or application generates a set of words — usually 12 or 24 — known as a seed phrase or recovery phrase. In practice, those words are the wallet. Whoever has them has access to the funds. Whoever loses them loses access forever.
A seed phrase is not a password you can change or reset. It is the mathematical root from which all the wallet’s keys are derived. Without it, there is no recovery.
BIP85 starts from that same principle and extends it: if one seed phrase can generate a whole tree of keys, why not also use it to generate other complete, independent seed phrases?
How it works, without the math
Imagine a secret recipe that only you know. A unique combination of ingredients that no one else has. That recipe is your master seed.
BIP85 lets you create other recipes from it. The master recipe combined with the number 0 always produces the same derived recipe A. Combined with the number 1, it always produces the same derived recipe B. And so on, for as many as you need. Always the same result for the same ingredients: no randomness, no surprises.
That number that distinguishes each derivation is called the index. Index 0 always produces the same child seed. Index 1 always produces another one. They are deterministic: given the same master seed and the same index, the result is always identical. There is no randomness involved.
What makes this useful and secure at the same time is that the process only works in one direction. Whoever has the child seed cannot reconstruct the master seed from it. The parent can generate children; the children reveal nothing about the parent.
Child seeds can be generated in whatever length you prefer: 12, 18, or 24 words, depending on what you request when deriving them. In every respect, they are standard BIP39 phrases.
What it is useful for in practice
The most direct application is managing multiple wallets with a single backup.
A daily spending wallet derived with index 0. A long-term savings wallet with index 1. One to give a family member access to part of your funds without revealing the main seed, with index 2. Under the conventional system, each of those wallets needs its own separate set of words stored independently. With BIP85, they all come from the same master seed, and it is enough to protect that one secret.
The child seed you derive is a completely normal, standard seed phrase, compatible with any wallet that follows BIP39. It carries no special marker. Whoever receives it does not know it is a derivation: it works exactly like any other seed phrase.
This has an important practical consequence for inheritance and delegation. Emergency instructions for a family member or executor become simpler: one master phrase, plus a list of which index corresponds to which wallet. Much more manageable than multiple sealed envelopes with independent phrases.
The advanced use almost no one mentions: derived passphrases
There is a BIP85 use case that rarely appears in educational content and that, for anyone already practicing self-custody with some seriousness, is probably the most interesting one: deriving BIP39 passphrases from the master seed.
A BIP39 passphrase — the “25th word” — is an optional extra layer added to a seed phrase to create a different hidden wallet. It is one of the strongest defenses against physical coercion and against accidental discovery of your backup phrase. The classic problem is that the passphrase itself also has to be remembered or stored, and if you lose it, you lose access to the hidden wallet even if you still have the seed phrase.
BIP85 solves that: instead of inventing a passphrase and memorizing it, you derive it mathematically from your master seed using an index. If you ever lose it, you regenerate it. And because each index produces a different passphrase, you can have multiple hidden wallets reproducible from a single root secret, without having to store anything extra.
The same logic applies to alphanumeric passwords for external services. Reproducible, strong, and independent of any third-party password manager.
What happens if you lose a child seed
This is the question that feels most reassuring once you hear the right answer.
Suppose you have a daily-use wallet derived with index 1, and the paper where you wrote down its words gets lost or destroyed. With your master seed, and knowing you used index 1, you can regenerate that exact same child seed at any time from any compatible device. The funds are not lost.
The process is straightforward: you enter the master seed into a BIP85-compatible device, specify the index, and the device regenerates the exact child phrase. You import it into the destination wallet and recover full access.
What is irreversible is losing the master seed. If that happens, you lose access to every wallet derived from it, without exception. The master seed is the single critical point of the whole system. All the complexity reduction BIP85 offers comes with that trade-off: the responsibility for custody is concentrated into one secret.
There is one good practice before moving real funds: generate a child seed with a specific index, write down which index you used, delete the child, and then regenerate it from the master to verify that it matches. Only once you have confirmed that the recovery cycle works correctly on your device should you move real funds into those wallets.
What BIP85 does not do
It is worth being precise about its limits.
BIP85 does not encrypt your funds or add any extra protection to real-time wallet access. Its function is to manage the generation and backup of seeds. It is not an extra lock on transactions.
It also does not eliminate custody risk: it concentrates it. If you used to have five seeds and now you have one, that master seed becomes the single point of failure for the whole system. More operational simplicity means more weight on that one secret. Anyone using BIP85 seriously should give that master seed the same level of care — or more — than they used to give five separate seeds. A steel plate, not paper. Two physical locations, not one. Never photographed, never stored digitally.
Finally, BIP85 requires explicit support from the device or application you use. Not every hardware or software wallet implements it, and support status changes with firmware updates. Coldcard by Coinkite is the reference implementation and the most mature one. Ian Coleman’s web tool can also calculate it manually, with the essential precaution of downloading the HTML and always using it with the device offline.
Why it is worth knowing about
Most bitcoin lost in self-custody was not lost to sophisticated hacks or protocol failures. It was lost to management mistakes: poorly stored phrases, forgotten backups, destroyed papers, heirs without clear instructions, abandoned wallets because maintaining so many separate phrases was simply too much work.
That is the real problem of self-custody, and it is one of the few areas where there have been very few structural improvements in the last decade. BIP85 is one of them. It does not remove risk — it reorganizes it, concentrates it, makes it manageable. One well-protected secret is, in practice, a safer system than five poorly protected ones, even if at first glance it seems like the opposite.
For someone already managing multiple wallets seriously, ignoring BIP85 comes with a real operational cost that grows with every new wallet, every hardware change, and every delayed inheritance conversation. It is one of those quiet pieces of infrastructure that does not solve anything in a spectacular way, but the day you need it, it saves you exactly the kind of mistake that can ruin years of savings.

Qué no hace BIP85

Bitcoin Spot ETFs: What Really Changed After the Launch Noise Faded
The simple story went like this: approval arrives, Wall Street comes in, price goes up. Two years later, the data paints a picture that is much less simple — and much more interesting.
When the SEC approved spot bitcoin ETFs in January 2024, the narrative practically wrote itself. At last, there was a regulated gateway for big money to enter Bitcoin without touching the asset directly. The immediate reading was almost automatic: now institutions are here, now the market changes, now a new phase begins.
What came next was not a disappointment, but neither was it a clean version of that story.
As of March 25, 2026, U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs held 1,260,000 BTC in verified physical holdings across the 11 active vehicles, with an aggregate market value close to $89.8 billion. Net inflows since launch had already surpassed $76 billion. Put differently: this is not a small experiment or a passing trend. This is a slice of the market that is already too large to treat as a footnote.
That alone forces a correction to an idea that was fairly widespread during the first year: that ETFs were mostly a story of expectations. At this point, they are not. They are a demand structure with meaningful scale of their own. And they are highly concentrated. BlackRock’s IBIT is around $50 billion in AUM and Fidelity’s FBTC around $18 billion, with the rest spread across Ark/21Shares, Invesco, and others. The headline is not just that money came in; it is that it came in through very specific channels, with very clear winners.
The more delicate part begins when you try to answer the question that really matters: who is buying. That is where it makes sense to be far more careful than market commentary usually is.
13F filings are useful, but they do not solve the whole puzzle. Only institutional managers with at least $100 million in discretionary assets have to file them, and they also come with a lag of up to 45 days after the end of each quarter. With those limitations in mind, what the Q4 2025 filings show is that roughly 76% of sector-wide AUM sits in the hands of disclosed institutional managers. That is a meaningful number. But the remaining 24% is not clearly attributable, and treating all of it as retail would be a simplification the data does not support: it can also include institutions below the filing threshold, brokerage platforms aggregating flows without breaking them out, and intermediary vehicles that are hard to classify cleanly.
Another common simplification also needs to be toned down: that ETFs have fully and neatly “institutionalized” Bitcoin. They have opened a very powerful channel for traditional capital to come in, yes. But a wealth advisor, a hedge fund, a tactical trading desk, and a strategic treasury allocation can all show up under the same label of “institutional capital,” and that label by itself explains much less than it seems. The breakdowns by institution type that appear in some industry reports could not be independently verified, so it is more honest not to use them as firm data.
Where the data does start to say something more interesting is in the behavior of capital once it is inside. The share of holdings with no observable movement over 30-day windows has risen steadily, from 75% at the start of 2025 to nearly 89% by March 2026. At the same time, arbitrage activity as a share of total AUM has fallen from 12% to 5% over the same period. That residual 5% has its own clear logic: basis trading that takes advantage of the spread between IBIT and spot BTC, tax-loss harvesting concentrated in the first quarter, and adjustments linked to mining hash rate. That is not a sign of broad exit. It is tactical activity with a known mechanism.
That trend toward higher retention is real and observable. What is less straightforward is the interpretation. “No movement in 30 days” does not automatically mean “long-term strategic investment”: it may reflect that, but it may also reflect positions reviewed quarterly, or capital simply waiting for a price level to exit. The direction is clear. The conclusion about conviction requires more caution.
Where there is less debate is in the mechanism itself. These products operate with physical backing: every net positive flow implies bitcoin purchases in the spot market. We are not talking about products that replicate price exposure through derivatives without touching the underlying asset. When the vehicle grows, its relationship with the spot market is not decorative. As of March 25, these ETFs represented 6.4% of Bitcoin’s total market capitalization. If you add the estimate that they have absorbed more than 30% of new BTC supply since launch, the mechanism of structural buy pressure is real and already large enough that it can no longer be ignored.
Still, from there to saying that ETFs now “control” price is a leap that should not be made so casually. Structural buy pressure is one thing. Saying that it explains every leg of the market on its own is something else entirely. On February 24, 2026, when bitcoin corrected to $62,920, roughly $1 billion of net inflows went into ETFs during that session. The data point is real. Whether those flows actually supported the price, or simply coincided with a rebound that would have happened anyway, is a question daily flow data cannot answer by itself. Bitcoin has continued to move in response to factors that existed before ETFs and are still here now: monetary policy, risk appetite, global liquidity, miner selling, leverage, and the asset’s own cycle. ETFs are now a large piece of the board. They are not the whole board.
That may be the most useful correction after two years of data. Spot ETFs have not turned Bitcoin into a domesticated asset, but neither have they been a merely symbolic doorway through which Wall Street watches from the outside. They have created a new layer of demand, large enough to change the conversation and opaque enough that it is still a mistake to speak with too much certainty about who is buying, why they are buying, and how much of that money is genuinely patient.
At launch, many people wanted a short story: approval, capital inflow, validation, price appreciation. Reality has turned out to be much less tidy, which is often another way of saying much more interesting.
What we have today is not proof that Bitcoin already belongs to institutions, nor proof of the opposite. What we have is something more concrete: a regulated channel that already moves tens of billions of dollars, that has absorbed a very serious amount of bitcoin, whose capital seems to be moving less and less over time, and that has made it impossible to keep talking about the market as if this piece did not exist.

🤖 ⚡ ⚫When a Machine Needs to Pay: Why Bitcoin Is Starting to Make Sense for AI⚫⚡🤖
AI agents can already search, decide, and execute tasks. The next problem is not thinking better, but paying better.
Imagine this: an AI agent finds an API, buys a few seconds of compute, queries a dataset, calls another model, and pays for all of it instantly.
Not inside a big monthly invoice. Not with a card. Not with a human approving each step. Real payment, small and automatic.
If that still sounds futuristic, it is because we usually think of AI as something that answers, writes, or classifies. But agents are starting to do something else: act. And when they act, they consume resources. And when they consume resources, someone wants to charge for them.
That is where a problem appears that is much simpler than artificial intelligence itself, but just as important: how does a machine pay?
The financial system we use every day works reasonably well for people and companies. It does not work nearly as well when the one that needs to pay is software and each transaction may be only a few cents, or less, repeated hundreds or thousands of times. In that world, friction is not a detail. It is the problem.
A card, a bank account, or a traditional payment gateway work for ordinary transactions, but they fit badly in an economy where a machine may want to pay 3 cents for a query, 1 cent to verify a piece of data, and another 5 cents to execute a task. If every payment drags fixed fees, onboarding flows, controls designed for human users, and long settlement times, the system stops being practical. It becomes a burden.
That is why Bitcoin, and especially the Lightning Network, have started to enter a conversation where they barely appeared before. Not so much as magical substitutes for the entire financial system, but as a possible answer to a much more concrete problem: small, frequent, global, automated payments between systems that are not human.
⚫The bottleneck is not AI. It is payments.
When people talk about AI agents, almost all the attention goes to their ability to reason, plan, or execute tasks. But if they are really going to operate in the real world, there is a more basic question that comes first: how do they access paid resources without turning every interaction into an oversized financial operation?
That is exactly what makes this topic interesting. We are not talking about a theoretical debate over the future of money. We are talking about something much more ordinary: if a machine wants to use a service for a few seconds, can it pay for it naturally?
With traditional infrastructure, very often the answer is no.
The problem is not only cost. There is also dependence on intermediaries, payment reversibility, the need to open accounts, KYC, and a whole layer of bureaucracy that makes sense in larger human transactions, but not in repeated micropayments between software.
Put simply: in many cases, the economic exchange is not what fails. The payment system is.
⚫Why Bitcoin enters the picture
Bitcoin on its own does not solve this problem. Its base layer is very robust, but it was not designed for constant micropayments. That is where Lightning starts to make sense.
Lightning allows small amounts to move very quickly and at very low cost. That changes the rules quite a bit, because it makes viable something that under other systems is awkward or outright absurd: paying a little, many times, without building an entire commercial relationship around each payment.
That fits very well with what agents may need.
An agent does not want to become a traditional customer every time it needs a resource. It does not want to register, store a card, sign endless terms, and wait for someone to process the payment. It wants to discover a service, know the price, pay, and keep working.
In that setting, Lightning has a clear advantage: it stops payment from being the heaviest part of the operation.
On top of that, ideas have emerged around Lightning that are especially useful for this world. One of the most interesting is that payment does not just transfer money, it also opens the door. In very simple terms: an agent asks for access to a resource, the service responds with an invoice, the agent pays, and that payment becomes the proof that grants access.
That may sound technical, but the intuition is easy to understand. Instead of fully separating authentication and payment, the two come together. And in a machine-to-machine environment, that makes a lot of sense.
⚫This no longer sounds like science fiction
What is interesting is that all of this has stopped being just a nice idea.
Over the past few years, tools, standards, and projects have started to appear that point in exactly this direction: charging per API call, paying per inference, temporary access to services, micropayments built into digital products, and experiments with agents managing payments fairly autonomously in controlled environments.
That does not mean a fully deployed agent economy on Bitcoin already exists. It does not.
What does exist is something more serious than a simple promise: a technical stack that is beginning to take shape. There are already pieces. There are already tools. There are already use cases that do not feel invented for a conference talk.
And that changes the conversation quite a bit, because it stops being about whether the idea “sounds good” and becomes about whether it can mature.
⚫What still does not work
This is where it matters not to fall into easy hype.
Lightning is not perfect infrastructure, and it is not invisible infrastructure either. It still has friction. It still requires much more technical care than a truly mature solution would. And for serious deployments, that matters a lot.
Reliability remains a central issue. If payment is part of an agent’s critical operation, it is not enough for it to work many times. It has to work almost all the time.
Then there is liquidity management. Channels do not maintain themselves ideally, and when you start imagining constant activity between software systems, that stops being a technical detail and becomes an operational requirement.
On top of that comes regulation. As soon as you picture agents making automated, cross-border payments without going through a traditional financial intermediary, serious questions appear around compliance, liability, and licensing. And that part is not solved by a software upgrade.
So it is worth keeping a cool head. Lightning is not a finished solution. For now, it is one of the few infrastructures that allows this kind of economy to be tested in a credible way without the payment layer ruining the idea from the start.
⚫It does not need to replace everything else
Sometimes these debates get distorted because they quickly turn into a total war: Bitcoin versus state money, Lightning versus Visa, decentralization versus traditional banking.
But for this use case, framing it that way does not help much.
Bitcoin does not need to replace the entire financial system to be useful here. It only needs to solve one very specific zone well: small, frequent, programmable, internet-native payments between software that does not want to behave like a human user.
Seen that way, the argument gets much stronger. Not because everything suddenly becomes clear, but because the right question stops being grandiose and becomes practical: what system allows value to move between machines with less friction and fewer unnecessary layers?
And right now, Bitcoin keeps appearing again and again.
Maybe in a few years this discussion will seem obvious and nobody will remember there was a time when we were trying to fit machine-to-machine payments into systems built for cards, banks, and human users.
Or maybe not. Maybe Lightning will not end up taking that place, and some other infrastructure, simpler or easier to regulate, will win out instead.
But right now, when someone tries to think seriously about how to move small amounts between autonomous software systems without turning every operation into a small bureaucratic nightmare, Bitcoin keeps showing up in the conversation. Not because of epic narratives or ideology, but because of technical fit.
And that is probably the most interesting part of all: not that the story is settled, but that, for the first time in a long while, there is a part of the Bitcoin debate that stops sounding grandiose and starts sounding fairly logical.

What problem does Bitcoin solve?
Bitcoin is a type of money created so that its supply cannot be increased without limit.
With traditional money, governments can keep issuing more and more, and that causes money to lose value over time.
The result is that, with the same amount of money, you can buy fewer things than before.
That is the problem many governments hide or downplay: inflation does not just raise prices, it also weakens savings.
Bitcoin has a limited supply, and that is why many people see it as a way to protect their savings.

Why does the government have to be the one that issues money if, in the end, money is just another thing we use to trade—basically a product with specific features? If that’s true, then the market could provide it too, just like it provides other goods.

Economics is political because almost everything that is bought and sold moves through territories that are always governed by someone—and that someone always intervenes in trade, even if only to protect it. So behind every economic exchange there is always a political decision.

Since my last post about UTXO consolidation, I’ve received messages and comments with questions like: What are UTXOs? or How do UTXOs work?
Here’s an explanation that’s easy for a newbie to understand and also useful for an expert to refresh.
1) What is a UTXO
A UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) is a specific “piece” of bitcoin that exists on the network and has not been spent yet.
It’s not a number in an account. It’s more like a bill or a coin: something you can point to and say, “this is mine and I haven’t used it yet.”
Your wallet doesn’t store “a balance” like a bank would. What it has is multiple pieces (UTXOs) that, when added up, make your total. Each one comes from a previous transaction and stays “alive” until you spend it.
Keep this mental note: Bitcoin works with pieces, not balances.
https://blossom.primal.net/8224beeeb1410d3a353ad7a52199c40d1cdb4bab3da890911a88cf46949d6388.png
2) Why do you have UTXOs in your wallet
You have UTXOs because every time you receive BTC, the network creates one or more outputs assigned to your address.
If you receive 0.01 BTC today and 0.02 BTC tomorrow, you’ll end up with two different UTXOs, even if your wallet shows a balance of 0.03. This happens because a Bitcoin transaction doesn’t “deposit money into an account”; it creates outputs that become linked to you.
Your wallet simply presents those pieces as a single balance for convenience. But underneath, there’s an inventory of separate pieces.
Consequence: many small receipts = many small pieces accumulating in your wallet.
https://blossom.primal.net/aa9fec8ba4acdd2f37cbf14172623284f8c4d49f52f9303592e2ee20ad72fc52.png
3) How a transaction works
A Bitcoin transaction consumes existing UTXOs (inputs) and creates new UTXOs (outputs).
Inputs: the pieces your wallet selects from its inventory to cover the payment.
Outputs: the new pieces that are created. Usually two: one to the recipient and one back to you as change.
Fee: the fee doesn’t show up as an output “to the miner.” It’s simply the difference between what goes in and what goes out.
> fee = sum(inputs) − sum(outputs)
The key idea: when you pay, your old UTXOs are destroyed and new UTXOs are born. Nothing is “transferred”; it’s consumed and recreated.
https://blossom.primal.net/581a6caf3f1b9b7c9e433595cac86e73954636848f0c7785ce28a4b5b44e46dc.png
4) UTXOs in Bitcoin: what they are and how they work (big picture)
Think of the blockchain like a factory that, with every block, keeps issuing new pieces.
Every transaction creates outputs. Some are later spent in other transactions; others remain unspent as available UTXOs. The network validates that each UTXO can only be spent once: each input references a specific previous output, and the consensus rules prevent reusing it. That’s how Bitcoin solves the double-spend problem without needing a bank.
That’s why the UTXO model is so robust: accounting is concrete (individual pieces) and verifiable by any node.
https://blossom.primal.net/b1096e97d95268108dc7de6b6327b9261376b87c769027bbc5b0550e3bf1f983.png
5) How you spend a UTXO: inputs, outputs, and change
Spending a UTXO is like paying with a large bill: you can’t split it, you hand it over whole and you get change back.
Example: you have a 0.10 BTC UTXO and you want to pay 0.06 BTC. Your transaction will create:
- Recipient output: 0.06 BTC
- Change output back to you: 0.10 − 0.06 − 0.005 fee
The recipient gets their 0.06 BTC, and you get 0.035 BTC back as change.
The wallet automatically decides which address receives that change. For privacy, it usually uses a new address that belongs to you.
There is almost always change. It’s not a bug or something weird; it’s normal Bitcoin behavior.
https://blossom.primal.net/e9fe85f279830a5d7a98a413b0551d8cc83fa8f706e758b4b86c39dda1d0e14f.png
6) How the fee is calculated
In Bitcoin, the fee doesn’t depend on the amount you send. It depends on two things: your transaction’s data size and the rate per unit you’re willing to pay.
- Size: measured in vbytes (virtual bytes). The more inputs and outputs your transaction has, the more vbytes it uses.
- Rate: expressed in sat/vB (satoshis per virtual byte). It varies depending on network congestion at that moment.
> fee (sats) = size (vB) × rate (sat/vB)
Direct conclusion: more inputs and outputs = more data = more vbytes = more fee, even if the amount you send is small.
Ideally, if you don’t need the transaction urgently, some people wait for times when the mempool shows low fees to execute it — for example, to consolidate UTXOs.

7) Why your UTXOs affect your fees
The biggest driver of transaction size is the number of inputs.
If your wallet has to combine 30 small UTXOs to cover a payment, the transaction will be large and cost much more than if you could pay with 2 large UTXOs.
That’s why consolidation exists: merging many UTXOs into a few when fees are low. Then, when you need to make a real payment, your transaction will be lighter and cheaper.
Careful: consolidation is useful, but it comes with a privacy cost, because it links multiple pieces in a single transaction and reveals they’re all yours. It’s a trade-off each person must evaluate.
Remember: more inputs → more vbytes → more fee.

8) The essentials in 6 lines
- A UTXO is an unspent piece of BTC.
- Your wallet stores many pieces, not a “bank balance.”
- A transaction consumes inputs and creates new outputs.
- There’s almost always a change output back to you.
- The fee depends on data size, not amount: fee = size (vB) × rate (sat/vB).
- Many small UTXOs mean larger transactions and higher fees.

https://blossom.primal.net/add92d0f2fd44a480a4cd379becba06ec3278ce1e5bdb3f17af208f8e7ae8835.png
https://blossom.primal.net/d35bf06aee6b174b1e0c1415a44d38900995335a9df09d2a657f11934263fdc7.png
> fee = suma(inputs) − suma(outputs)
https://blossom.primal.net/5b58d20457eee184a8678578e875d938d252a1df34b7e9532b7202cf86e7732f.png
https://blossom.primal.net/a2d871fcbbb8c2c6ff973e5660416b2f49fb38bf59e4cb15ef9988d8a4f9f838.png
https://blossom.primal.net/ef81a7af2a036894bd33f491ff3ca3a8c61da08ae10edaf99a753c30700276c7.png
> fee (sats) = tamaño (vB) × tarifa (sat/vB)
https://blossom.primal.net/eb630f348976da84de9f675ce81f076b926ff5d292b2a3971964d690f5cf8a81.png
https://blossom.primal.net/a963f390720360004dbcf1c3dead7032e3cc74874c8df5eec3bac29f6ca4edc0.png

Mi enhorabuena a ti y a Andrés.

You don't buy from a consolidated address holding 14 BTC. That's not how it works if you manage your UTXOs properly.
Those 14 BTC are split into UTXOs of 0.01 BTC. When you buy something for 0.000123 BTC, your wallet only uses one of the thousands of addresses your hardware wallet generates — an address that from the outside only shows 0.01 BTC.
That transaction creates two outputs: the 0.000123 BTC payment to the seller, and 0.009877 BTC in change that goes back to your wallet at a brand new address, with no visible link to the previous one.
Of course, if you hold 14 BTC you could also have larger UTXOs — that's up to each individual and how they choose to manage their privacy.
First you need to understand how Bitcoin transactions and the blockchain actually work. Then you can work with that knowledge instead of assuming everyone operates from a single address.

Why CONSOLIDATE your UTXOs TODAY?
If you’re a hodler, this saves you fees in the future.
Don’t wait for the next bull run!
👁️ What is a UTXO?
Imagine BTC like a wallet of physical coins and bills, NOT like a bank account with a balance. Every time you receive sats, a specific “bundle” arrives. Your 1 BTC could be one big bill… or 100 little coins of 0.01. Those are UTXOs.
UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs)
[https://blossom.primal.net/0563096a390d3e03f08e7d38bd1d93f26ef61f74559411f64f6f0092fd339adb.png](https://blossom.primal.net/0563096a390d3e03f08e7d38bd1d93f26ef61f74559411f64f6f0092fd339adb.png)
🕶️ The mess of “dusty little coins”
To send BTC, your wallet “gathers” all those small bundles.
More bundles = more data in the tx.
More data = FEES you’ll pay.
Imagine paying more in fees than a coffee for a small transaction!
🤔 Why NOW?
Network fees go up and down like Bitcoin. If you wait for the pump (or congestion), moving 100 UTXOs will cost you an arm and a leg.
Worse: they can turn into “dust,” where the fee > the value of the little coin. Goodbye sats!
Do it NOW — we’re in a consolidation season/moment!!
[https://blossom.primal.net/9574240547979a7940833e8a406c458bac4d94203e925aba9b48289809a35d10.png](https://blossom.primal.net/9574240547979a7940833e8a406c458bac4d94203e925aba9b48289809a35d10.png)
🤑 The master move: CONSOLIDATION
Take advantage of low fees (few sats/vB) to send ALL your balance to YOURSELF in ONE single tx.
Boom! From 20 tiny UTXOs → 1 giant UTXO.
Future: Sell or move during the bull market paying LITTLE.
[https://blossom.primal.net/5c12fa6fc1b4838869abf2f14e9635ec13baad6ac7158e4ef8792f46931b5474.png](https://blossom.primal.net/5c12fa6fc1b4838869abf2f14e9635ec13baad6ac7158e4ef8792f46931b5474.png)
👣 Step by step:
✅ Open your wallet (Sparrow, BlueWallet, or whatever you use with full UTXO control).
✅ Create a tx: Send your balance to a NEW address of yours; the recommendation is that your UTXOs are at least 0.01 BTC.
✅ Lower the fee manually (low, low!).
✅ Sign and broadcast.
Now you’ve got your BTC optimized and supercharged! 🦾

UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs)
https://blossom.primal.net/0563096a390d3e03f08e7d38bd1d93f26ef61f74559411f64f6f0092fd339adb.png
https://blossom.primal.net/9574240547979a7940833e8a406c458bac4d94203e925aba9b48289809a35d10.png
🤑 La jugada maestra: CONSOLIDACIÓN
Aprovecha fees bajos (pocos sats/vB) para enviarte TODO tu saldo a TI MISMO en UNA tx sola.
¡Boom! De 20 UTXOs chiquitos → 1 UTXO gigante.
Futuro: Vende o mueve en bull market pagando POCO.

👣 Paso a paso:
