PSA: No, Russian bot traffic has not significantly decreased. Only Yandex’s network is mostly silent, which doesn’t have a huge impact on automated requests from all of Russia.
And neither has much to do with social media bots. Stop spreading this kind of misinformation.

mostly just the GitHub release pages, they all come with an RSS feed (.atom at the end of the URL: https://github.com/bitwarden/server/releases.atom )
Many vendors also publish releases on their blogs, which offer feeds.

I have now started following the release note RSS feeds of all services that I expose publicly, because with the way AI can build exploits now, I feel like it's no longer enough to just update to the new version during my regular patch day.

Me: Siri, remind me on Friday at 10 am of FortiGate backup.
Siri: Okay, I added it.
You can’t make this shit up. Siri AI cannot possibly be worse than what we currently have.

The fact that Apple didn’t expect the MacBook Neo to do as well as it did is concerning to me.

no. This is a Whois lookup for the IP addresses. They use AWS to run the service. Feel free to dig yourself if you don’t believe me.

seems like something @npub18s7…wqln would be able to easily sponsor, right? :)

maybe, but not anytime soon. Obviously, we aren’t at a point where LLMs are capable of improving their coding skills based on learning from past mistakes. Otherwise we would have vibe programs that are actually good. But we don’t. At this point, vibe code is actively getting worse the longer the AI is working on it.
The main reason for LLMs getting smarter is still by increasing their brain size. So I don’t think they have enough parameters available to be able to handle AGI. Their brains just aren’t large enough yet, and our computing power isn’t there yet.
But I also believe that this will (or has the potential to) improve over time, and at some point we will arrive at that singularity you’re describing. Probably by accident/uncontrollably. My guess would be in 10-20 years.

A very nice monologue about the opportunities Trump's new regime opens up for the EU's internet and tech sector, by @npub1fdr…lvhs:

So NVIDIA is now worth more than the entire GDP of Germany. Cool. No, that's not a bubble in the slightest!

Man, it's really hard to know which websites to trust these days. And that's coming from me, a chronically online dude that pays for search.

Interesting observation.

do you know how often G4 level events are being predicted? Is this something very unusual, or does that happen relatively (every year or so) frequently?

I love that the @npub1rk6…hv4q update server regularly offers download speeds of 50 kbit/s. It's not annoying at all to wait 1 hour on the updater without a progress bar until your little zip file is downloaded.
Can I recommend investing in a CDN? I hear Cloudflare offers things like that for basically free[1], and I see no harm in using them for static update files with checksums.

I just read another blog post of yours addressing this issue. But I don’t really see a solution there either. Do you think there is one? Like, a realistic one? Not a “the government should” solution, because let’s face it: not gonna happen.

good article. But I think one of the biggest issues is the barrier to entry. On AWS, you can get *everything.* And there’s almost no European provider that’s large enough to offer everything. And having to get one smart cloud service from one provider and another one from another removes a lot of the smartness that AWS is able to offer. I don’t see how anyone other than Hetzner or OVH can realistically catch up to AWS because of this. It’s just too expensive to build.

I’m not sure about that. “Everybody else” in your case are just techies and enthusiasts. I think the average non-tech person just has no idea what AI is, and really doesn’t care in the first place. And that includes people who make purchasing decisions in companies. And I think that’s why most businesses advertise AI so much. It’s not that they don’t care about their customers, it’s just that they don’t care about the engineers that’ll use it. They focus on the decision-makers.

at least that doesn’t actively hurt the content. The bigger issue is film audio being mixed for cinemas, resulting in everything sounding like shit and not being able to properly hear dialogue when listened to on your average TV or tablet speakers.
