Joseph

the insurance people are fine, there just seems to be a long wait to have panel work done. This is the second time I’ve been rear ended. Something in the water in Canberra? 😂

After waiting 8 weeks to see a panel beater, I find out that it’s not to get my car fixed after being rear ended, but to get the quote to get the repair done. Heaven help me.

Racist arse hats who clearly don’t even know how the fediverse and activity pub works. #Akkoma is out here with quote posts since forever. 🤨

I’m waiting for a friend to arrive at the international terminal at #Sydney airport. It’s an interesting place that I’m sure the Germans have a very specific describing word for it.

I think I've had a low grade sinus infection for the last two weeks. Should I get antibiotics or ride it out?

Honestly, I think the worst part of being a cult leader would have to be spending all your time with the sort of people who would want to join a cult.

Me: (Breathlessly, as I'm feeling my fantasy as I jiggle my moobs) I won't apologise for these breasts!
My partner: Could you please not do that in public?

I think another lens to look at this through is where do rights come from? A nation's right to exist comes from people's right to organise into groups. Israel's "right to exist" is some weird free floating argument against the right of Palestinians to live as if somehow the two are mutually exclusive.

They were delighted! My father kept saying "Oh my!" so I possibly broke his brain. My mother insisted on photos, because that's how she rolls. 😃

I'm surprising my dad for his 80th today. He thinks I'm in Canberra, but I'm going to pop up in Brisbane! He'll either be delighted or it's an early inheritance for me; so that feels like a win-win. 😜

#FountainPen users, do you use interesting coloured inks? I'm thinking anything more exotic than blue, black, blue-black. Do you use them often? What do you use them for?

My prickly pear is very happy with it's current position. It's grown exceptionally large since it was planted. I'm tempted to try and cook one of the pads. Anyone keen to see the result of such a culinary adventure? #BloomScrolling

I love a bargain, and my Jinhao 75 fountain pen certainly fits the bill. It's light, big enough for my giant hands and writes like a dream. I could never go back to a roller ball pen. I think it cost me AUD$12 and I use a bottle of Waterman: Serenity Blue ink to ink it. #fountainpen

Yes! It's that lack of institutional understanding and social understanding that has really magnified the tragedy of the situation. Flood waters can move so fast and if people have no experience of that, it's inevitable that late warnings and people going into underground carparks to check their cars will happen with such terrible outcomes.

2024-11-02 13:04:50 UTC

Something I've noticed about the Spanish floods is how people move though the space in a completely different way to what I'd expect. To my Australian senses it was clear that people didn't know how to respond; seeing things like people getting into the water to get to vehicles filled me with visceral alarm. I think it will be a huge challenge for Europe to develop an institutional and cultural understanding of how to respond to large scale environmental disasters. The delay in developing that understanding will cost lives.

I'm on school camp, and after a long night of telling students to put the light off and go to sleep I now get to insist in the cheeriest of tones that they get up for breakfast. Revenge is a dish served in 30 minutes, piping hot! 😜

I've been seeing a lot of discourse about leaving twitter. There are some media people, freelancers especially, who have built their whole careers on the platform and rely on it to pay their rent. I get it, but the fact is, if the bar you visit becomes a Nazi bar, and you make your money in the Nazi bar, by remaining there, you've become a collaborator. I'll happily boost any freelance media type or anyone else who made their crust on Twitter and is trying to escape. But you have to get out of that place, you're hanging out in the Nazi bar.
