Curmedgeon

Heard that as well about the possible armor. In my research purely for educational purposes a good level 3 would be fairly obvious to see. I know there are regular looking shirts, but unsure if that would be effective against that round. Here is a good example of something discreet. I think there would be an outline for sure. I am by no means an expert so i could be wrong on the discreet options, especially given the financial resources at hand.

Awesome! The Wendler is a good basic program and you can just do the main lifts. Some weeks due to time I will combine just the main lifts so Squat/bench one day and Deadlift/overhead. usually done in 30 min on those days. The key really is to NOT always work close to MAX but work close to failure.

Week 2 the sets are based on 70/80/90% and week 3 75/85/95% with week 4 being a true deload at 3x5 at 40/50/60%.
My split is day 1 Squat/RDL/Hexbar Deadlift/split squats
Day2 Bench/bbell rows/incine bench/skull crushers
Day3-rest/walk
Day4 Deadlift/box squats/pendlay rows
Day5-Overhead press/narrow grip bench/reverse curls/angled upright rows/barbell curls.
Day 6/7 rest. That lets me have max time between Squat and DL. I also do some core stabilization each day.

Check out Wendler 5/3/1 it is a weekly progression based on working at 90% of your max (workng max-WM). It is a 4 week phase. Week 1-2x5 reps, 1xAMRAP week 2 - 2x3, 1x Amrap
Week 3 1x5, 1x3, AMRAP
Week 4 deload. Then you take your anticpated max from the phase, put that in then next phase to calculate the 90% working max. The rep scheme for the main lift after wamups wk1 5x65%WM, 5x75%Wm and then as many reps as possible at 85%-not to failure but 1 rep less than one you would fail.

2025-06-28 10:57:44 UTC

- reply

same applies to a deload week to let your CNS relax so to say. You really have to deload, max set is 60% of one rep max and accessories should follow as well. However, I find if I swap out a deload that cuts intensity to one that cuts volume I see success the next phase in strength gains. So instead of 3x5 at low weight I do 10 sets of 1 at 90% of max. Allows me to really check form and mental state at a higher weight safely and without fatigue in a set.

2025-06-28 10:53:36 UTC

- reply

it is only a bad idea if you can’t recover properly. I did a spot of programming where I was squatting, benching and deadlifting in the same day 3x a week. Different variations and intensity. Rippatoe advocated that progressive overload programming. It took about 6 weeks and I discovered at my age (56) I could not recover and injuries seeped in so I switched. I now primarily follow the Wendler 5/3/1 but on squat day I do hex bar deadlifts and on deadlift day I do box squats.
