@nprofile…gk57 I'd probably go with Dogberry. He's one of the only of Shakespeare's comic characters that I actually find entertaining.
Of course, I'd never be cast as him because I can't act. 🙃

#3goodthings Monday Morning Edition
1. Repair guy for the washing machine is scheduled to come out MUCH sooner than I anticipated (Thurs)
2. Recalled that I have some additional materials in storage that I can use for my next personal project
3. I did NOT manage to talk myself out of mowing the lawn yesterday

#3GoodThings
1. Brother got a job offer after being caught in DOGE-inflicted budget cuts back in April
2. Got formal approval/notifications for my team's annual raises
3. Boss let me know about my raise and offered up some nice compliments as well

On this day in 1967, Loving v Virginia was decided and rendered all US laws banning interracial marriage as unconstitutional. I'm over a decade into a marriage that could not have existed before then, and I remain grateful to the Lovings for standing up for what's right.

"Drawing lines between 'peaceful' and 'violent' is a common move for politicians amid popular protest... In such a gross imbalance of power, the police are the ones really drawing the lines. No matter what a peaceful protester may intend, it’s police who are deciding when to use violence and whom to use it against—and nothing we saw this weekend indicates their violence was confined to those who were not 'peaceful.'”

Saw two reaction videos yesterday. A millennial watching the original "Bad News Bears" who was shocked at the coach giving the team beer for coming in second place. "He's giving beer to children?!" A Gen Zer seeing "Airplane!" for the first time kept repeating in disbelief after every death or sex joke, "I thought this was rated PG. This is not PG! What did PG mean back then?"
This is why we keep telling y'all that Gen X is built different.

Given the latest episode of Doctor Who and the appearance of a certain character, I think it's time I dust off my thread on how the 1970s #LandOfTheLost show is actually just a spin-off of #DoctorWho ! You'll be surprised how many connections the two shows have!

@nprofile…gk57 This is ~25 meters from the finish line of the 2014 Chicago Marathon. There are definitely better technical shots of me; better lighting, more dynamic, better composition, etc. But I always liked this one because it's the only shot you can tell I'm definitively running with both feet off the ground. It's proof I not only finished the 26.2 miles but that, dammit, I *ran* them!
Never cared much for my looks so my interest in pics of myself is more about proof of an accomplishment.

For a long time, I held the belief that Fritz Lan's Metropolis couldn't be re-made. That the primary theme was so rooted in its time, that it couldn't really translate to the late 20th/early 21st centuries. It would always be exclusively the work of Fritz Lang and Thea von Harbou. 1/

When I bought my first house, we obviously spent the first week or two getting "basic" house items like rakes and garden hoses and such. We hadn't even met them yet; they just wanted to give us a leg up on the immediate maintenance tasks.

Chatting with my wife last night, we both agreed that we will definitely see political assassinations under DJT but we disagreed on whether there will be an uptick in CEO executions. I believe Mangione basically just gave everyone "permission" to start thinking about it as a realistic option; she thinks murder is a step too far for everybody. Even after I reminded her just how many shooting deaths occur in the US already. (Over 100 PER DAY.)

Slid down a research rabbit hole: who draws Hägar the Horrible these days? A surprisingly more difficult question to answer than you'd think.

Less than 12 hours to go from SCOTUS saying a President can do whatever they want to Trump trying to incite stochastic terrorism against his perceived adversaries.

@npub1hvd…9sq9 I don't think I've handled an actual piece of Rubylith in over 30 years!

I've seen a number of reaction videos for The Terminator and one nearly-universal comment is: "Wait, you could just look up *anybody* in the phone book?! It just had everybody's full address?!"
The past is not worth being nostalgic for. It was pretty fucked up in a lot of ways.

I recall in the late '80s, reports started coming out saying that Gen Xers were going to be the first generation of Americans that statistically were not likely to do better than their parents. That they had a 50/50 chance at best. My father expressed concern at the time because he had two boys that fell pretty squarely in that age bracket. I certainly didn't understand what went into the reports at the time, but the headline version caught my attention for the same reason.

@npub1hvd…9sq9 It was expertly done. Expertly written and Gibson did a phenomenal job. I learned after watching that it was the first one Gibson filmed too.

Of course Davies is never going to say! There is literally nothing anyone could ever come up with that be better than whatever is in your head. ANY explanation would be a disappointment.

@npub19fc…ay3c I'm not a liar because it's too much work. I don't want to have to keep straight which version of which story I told to who. One story across the board, and I don't have to even bother inventing any of it.

When my wife + I were looking at houses 10yrs ago, I insisted we get one with an attached garage; I hated unloading groceries in the rain. The first time we went grocery shopping after moving in, it rained. "See?"
She insisted the house didn't have stairs because her dad's final yrs were difficult when he could no longer walk. Even the couple steps to get into the house were an issue. When I was wheelchair bound for 2 months after getting run over, she pointed to the accessibility ramp. "See?"

While this is indeed disappointing, I will note that She-Hulk was a member of the Fantastic Four back in the 80s and could *easily* show up in the upcoming FF movie(s).

@npub1qw5…037m That's why we're all cynics -- it was obvious early on that SOMEBODY was always lying to us.
