Need to find myself a picture of an ideal bonsai as a guide, or put a picture into AI and see what it suggests……. AI did save it from being chucked out by Mrs Dug.

Have a wonderful evening nostr fam.

Gm nostriches, sorting some early morning crepes to fuel the eldest, as the three of them head to London for a night to meet up with some fam, muggins here has work to do……. Now, wellbeing research or hyperinflation?!?!?
So what to do with a free evening……. Well, the sneaky beer at a pub on the way home from work was one idea, but fasting until a big steak for dinner with a side of trimming the bonsai tree just sorta feels right.
Taking the evening to sit back, restore the mind and then restore the body maybe before a quick bike ride the following morning before heading into work tomorrow. As a hobbit once said, “why not?”
Oh, youngest comes down and then wants different pancakes……. I get to do this, and wouldn’t have it any other way. #coffeechain

Gm nostriches, happy Friday and just a half day for me, before heading over the country with the kids and bikes in the auto to provide care and company for the mother……. And the teenager wanting some space from HER mother……..
Got a bonsai a little while back, looked dead, was nearly thrown away, but a little Google and a little care and the “green shoots” started to appear. Then took the clipper to her and tidied things up…… then, after a karate kid reference to the fam, absolutely not a coincidence, I’m saying providence or serendipity, moved back to #chooselife and there, clear a day on the beginning of the next chapter, a Mr Miyagi quote. Well played @nprofile…5gug keeping my belief that the science we were talking about doesn’t even scratch the surface.
Choosing life this weekend and going to share the good word with my students in video I’m going to riff for them this morning.

Day ahead, I “get to” spend with the youngest who is already off school, maybe bring her along for the weekly day off shopping trip and then maybe a little bike riding. Should be a nice pretty good day all in. #coffeechain and rather damp press-ups already sorted. Gm nostriches, always useful to check on the publicly funded source of government approved propaganda to see what I should be annoyed about today……. So, I know i’m bad, but show a “lawyer” meeting around with illegal migrant fines, to take the place of informing the uk what might be just around the corner, seems good to me. Add in a report from American about drug issues the other night, with Zero reference to how all those guys got addicted in the first place, kind of important that big pharma likely gave that vet pills in the first place and they couldn’t break the habit, you think? But no, as the nhs will start getting the Brits addicted, can’t go passing that information about.
Back to the marking, seeing both what AI use they’ll admit to and what I can spot, really hoping this is more of a point before they get into the assignment, unless they view it as every other one, “just a crappy assignment to do just enough to pass”……… well, they haven’t had me marking their work up to this point. If I have to lead a module, they have to care, god damn it, it’s important!!!!
#coffeechain powering me into the next assignment, hopeful broke the back yesterday.

A day of marking ahead, but also interested to see what transpires over the channel and whether any sparks will be lit over here. Latest news in the Nottingham killer, he’s been receiving £800 a month mental health benefits…….. yeah, and people are surprised when there are riots and the country had no money. We can’t hate the government enough……. Import someone with mental health, they kill our best and brightest, and we give them room and board and cash in hand.
Ok, before getting annoyed, will try out my new crepe maker to channel my inner Parisian! Balaclava packed for the way into work, baton picked up…… or maybe I’ll sort some sugar and lemon for the kid’s breakfast!!!!

Gm nostriches, happy Monday! Students handing in some coursework today, so a little more space in my day, time to finish of the piece about 90’s sport cars as the way of maintaining an important part of culture, well maybe just the culture of a Middle Aged white guy, but aren’t we the corner stone of family and value creation? so can’t we drive something that puts a smile on our faces?
So global economy, how’s the bond market going? That shit? Oh cool, hope all the hedge funds out there are able to make ends meet.
Time for a deep breath today, great fun getting the parents over for Sunday lunch out yesterday (the son/dad job of keeping everyone together), and grabbed a cheeky half of “epiphany”, such a great name for a beer and provided a good laugh for everyone around the table “half an epiphany please!!!!”
Tomorrow, the assignments will be in, and the short turnaround marking will get underway!!!! #coffechain
Oh, new bond doom loop where higher rates don’t just mess with the value of the bond, they also reduce demand for more, because obligations are being covered by what companies already own…… hmmm this one is a little weird, unsure I fully understand this but whey hey, I don’t own bonds so no problemo!!!!!

What was it that Starmer was able to deliver during the 2 years of his 2024-2026 premiership? pay rises of public services (to prevent disorder) and not making any cuts to the benefits expense bill (to secure future votes). Used to really love listening to Eric Yakes, investing is small firms with a bitcoin angle, super interesting but this episode felt really strange in places, like the episode had to be done, as part of the investment agreement. Don’t get me wrong it was sort of interesting in places, but what the fuck was the “have you dyed your hair” comment all about? Like two friends forgetting they were being recorded. “I just completely lost track, distracted by your hair?” Are we in Bitcoin or luscious locks weekly?

But what was most interesting was the idea of going back in time and informing people about germs and the need to wash their hands “after taking a shit”. Gm nostriches, after a bit of a delay, the “dad” birthday gifts arrived yesterday, new biking gloves for the eldest, grips and pedals for the youngest, great opportunity to slightly customise her new bike, while also showing anyone in the know there is support behind the scenes. Actually considering whether I need some new grips as these purple #deathgrips (all 3 of us have this type, custom designed by a racer years ago and also simply cool). Purple anodising just harks back to my early nineties youth so hard!!!!
But “death grip” (also an awesome biking movie) is when you hang onto the bars, fingers off breaks, knowing the best way through is to let it all go, more speed, more commitment the better. And so, barrelling into mid October, price action not really doing what the moon boys promised, but still, not choosing to Luke Groman it and wait for a lower entry, a Jordie Visser looking for the “next micron”. Full commitment, only one way through the upcoming “distinction” let’s say, Deathgripping onto the cold hard sats, waiting to hit that “hardline” 40 ft kicking and pulling the 100ft backflip!!!!!!

Always a Gm in the land/mind of the sovereign individual.

Gm nostriches, hoping my day out of the fiat provides a little headspace to reset, given I appear to be becoming quite the “expert” in wellbeing (never an expert, always a student). But downsides “headspace and relaxing” could in fact be a distraction.
Just writing some stuff and managed to get the stars to align halfway through with an effective academic “googlewhack” that brought two of my favourite topics into the realms of, not a solution (Thomas Sowell told us, “there are no solutions, and not trade-offs”), but a clearer mind, a target, and a tool to fight those bastards that appear to want to make us feel like shit.
Happy Thursday fuckers, #coffeechain with cream for a Thursday treat……. Moderation of treats…… #catstr actually letting me sleep at the moment, but did bring a live mouse on the house as I was heading to bed.

2026-10-14 05:46:00 UTC

Gm nostriches, already storming through the week into Wednesday, have to maybe do a bit of prep for teaching on Friday, but also keep on going with some writing from yesterday. Janky to say the least, but beginning to break “wellbeing” down certainly has a motivational draw…….
Bring a little inflation and bitcoin into the mix, no idea whether it can be kept academic or whether I have to make it some type of autoethnography bull crap, but low time preference as a foundation for improved wellbeing, now see what’s written about that.
“hey fatty, that £9 extra sugar syrup retard latte may get you through the next 10 minutes but you’re failing every part of next year’s you”
Maybe keep it a little more conceptual, but let’s see if there is any literature out there. Holy crap there is some rubbish. 🤔
Head down, but eyes on the prize, says the guy who had Macca’s for his dinner last night (for the kid’s birthday, ok 🤣, holy crap 💩 inflation is doing a number on those nuggets!!!!)…….. #coffeechain to the rescue and kid birthday season done for another year…… not that I did much, other than buy a disgustingly sweet dessert that got fully rejected.

2026-10-13 05:34:39 UTC

Gm nostriches, 14 years ago, today, after leaving the, then, girlfriend waiting to go into labour at hospital, I had gone home to spend a final evening with the dog (my first born), then early in the morning, got a phone call that Labour had started so I had to hot foot it into the Labour suite.
Respecting the order of duties, I had a quick shower, took the dog a short walk, and then went in, much to the annoyance of the rather exasperated mother to be. Mother is still exasperated about most things, I’d still choose to take the dog a walk before leaving the house……
Weird how a birthday message to the eldest turned into a message about the dog.
Also Birthday present from the cat!!!! Found it with a bare foot!

Gm nostriches, back into the grind of a Monday morning, two hour lecture this afternoon, chance to work out what small addition to make through the morning, other than referring back to my bitcoin analogy on Friday to see if anyone was paying attention, and so connect this with the seed word treasure hunt a few of them have actually been engaging with. 😉
And so, maybe open the laptop in the lecture to see if anyone has taken it or just include a link to the utxo…..……… “if someone won, there is no way to who that is. Isn’t it wild, guys???” Now let me hear from you all, “Bitcoin is awesome!” BTW, I lost mine in a boating accident through the summer (best not mention about coldcard or entropy just yet)

Ge nostriches, strange moment, as my youngest turns 10, looking back on the past decade, thinking about where I was, where I am now, what I’ve learnt and with the power of hindsight, what would I tell my former self; no stock picks allowed……..
Apart from look after your head buddy (was recovering from a concussion at the time, and no idea what I should be doing), I’d also say, deep breath, keep a level head. Everyday you’ll be tested, remember what our brother told us, you can only change your own opinions, and as Marcus Aurelius says, it isn’t what the world (other people) does to you, but how you react.
Deep breath, everyday, you’ve got this, eat your steak, sleep as well as you can, go on a bike ride more often, oh, and say hi to Dug. 🥲

Richard J Murphy, explaining how MMT will arrive in the future, being a solution to the latest crisis.
Linguistic gymnastics and weasel words to justify why debt doesn’t matter. Hey price, building resources requires market demands and efficient use of resources (including money) to build them overtime. Just printing will call all sorts of tomfoolery.
Love listening to Keynesian retards. Catastrophizing on every front with the money providing this idiot of solution.
We need to crisis to get our evil way that our theory will help solve.
