Reserve risk, 3 years
Reserve risk compares price with the conviction of long term holders. Low readings mean holders are firmly in place relative to price. High readings mean price is stretched against that conviction.
At 4.26 millionths on 19 Oct UTC it sits in the bottom sixth of its three year range (peak 9.99). It was 7.15 a year ago while Price was higher. Over a year, conviction has not broken. Price has fallen and holders have stayed.
Medium term, that is a supportive setup. It is not a timing signal. Reserve risk can stay low for months.
Price is model derived, not an exchange ticker. Source: Bitview, data to 19 Oct 2026 UTC.

While the market argues about ETF outflows, the mining economy is voting the other way. Hash rate (1 month average) has climbed for 15 straight days to 988 EH/s, back toward its record, with Price a third below the October 2025 high. Difficulty adjusted up 5.9% on 18 Oct, the biggest rise in months.
This matters because mining is slow capital. Rigs, power contracts and data centers are multi year commitments. Miners do not deploy into structural bear markets; they capitulate in them. Right now revenue per hash is $36.6 per PH/s/day, right at the 1y median, and fees contribute under 1% of miner revenue, so what you are seeing is conviction priced off the block subsidy, not speculative fee froth.
My read: the security budget keeps growing straight through the drawdown, which says the people with the most capital tied up in Bitcoin's future are not flinching. The tell is hash price. Below about $28, the 1y low, miner stress begins and weak hands get forced. Above it, this divergence between falling price and rising hash rate resolves upward more often than not.

Price trades at 1.52x its cointime value, the bottom third of the 4y range. Cointime economics prices the network at 53.5k per BTC from the holding time investors have stored and the spending they have done. Spot at 81.3k sits well below the 4y median multiple of 2.06x and miles from the 3x plus zone that marked past euphoria.
Why I care about this frame today: it pairs with what holders are actually doing. Long term holder supply has set records three days running, now 16.45m BTC, while this valuation multiple sits in its accumulation band. Cheap on activity adjusted value, and the patient money agrees.
My read: at 1.5x, valuation is not the risk in Bitcoin. Time is. The tell is the 2.06x median: a reclaim confirms the next leg of trend, while a slide toward 1.0x has historically been where the best entries lived, not the worst.

Bitview puts long term holder supply (coins held 150 days or more) at 16.4m BTC. It fell to 14.1m in December 2025 as the drawdown forced distribution, then climbed to a 16.9m peak on 27 Jul 2026 and has eased only about 3% since, with Price roughly a third below its high. My read: this is the long term lens on what recent buyers are going through. The coins that left in the drawdown have largely been reabsorbed by holders who stayed, or new ones now aging past 150 days. That is conviction, not a price floor. A fall below 15m BTC would tell me the rebuild is being undone. The 15m threshold is my own reading, not a validated signal. Supply is a model estimate by coin age, not entity level data. Price is model derived, not an exchange ticker. Latest day provisional. Descriptive only, not a forecast. Not advice.

Bitview shows short term holder invested capital in loss at 39.6% on 14 Oct, up from 2.3% on 4 Oct when Price peaked at 86.2k. Price has since slipped to 81.3k, which puts recent buyers near 83k to 86k underwater. The tell is what they are doing about it: short term SOPR is 1.00, so coins are moving at roughly cost, with no rush to sell at a loss. My read: this is a squeeze on recent buyers, not capitulation. SOPR below 0.98 with loss share above 60% would look like capitulation to me, and that is a different market. Thresholds are my own reading, not validated signals. Short term holders are coins under 150 days old. Price is model derived, not an exchange ticker. Latest day provisional. Not advice.

Bitview's active price (realized price divided by liveliness, a model benchmark for activity adjusted cost) sits at 84.9k. Price is 83.2k, 2% under it, after peaking at 86.2k on 4 Oct and slipping back under on 7 Oct. Underneath, Price reclaimed the short term holder realized price on 19 Aug and has held above it for 56 days; that level has risen to 74.4k. My read: the 74.4k to 84.9k band is the medium term battleground. A daily close above 84.9k would be the first since 6 Oct and would put the active price back under Price. A close back under 74.4k would hand the read back to the bears. Benchmarks are model derived, not guarantees. Price is model derived, not an exchange ticker. Latest day provisional. Not advice.

Older holders are less underwater, but still over half. Bitview Coinflow loss share for long term holder supply (coins aged 150 days or more, weighted by estimated spending probability) fell from 73.5% on 30 Jun to 52.8% on 12 Oct as Price rose 40% from 58.4k to about 82k. My read: the overhead supply that capped rallies in summer is thinning, but more than half of the weighted older supply still sits in loss, so it is not gone. A rise back above 60% on a falling Price would change that read. Model weights, not a count of sellers. Price is model derived, not an exchange ticker. Latest day provisional. Not advice.

The holding reserve lost its upward trend.
Cointime vaulted supply rose from 7.267m BTC on 11 April to 7.353m on 11 July. Three months later, it is still 7.353m. The first half of this six month window added about 85.9k BTC. The second half changed by only about 194 BTC lower.
My read: holding momentum has stalled, not reversed. A reserve with no net growth does not establish selling pressure, and vaulted supply is not a wallet balance or a pile of coins that cannot move.
This is Cointime's activity weighted supply estimate: circulating supply multiplied by one minus liveliness. Liveliness measures the share of accumulated holding time consumed when outputs are spent. Issuance and spending both affect the estimate, so it should not be read as a direct count of buyers or sellers.
There were dips and rebounds inside those three months, so this is an endpoint comparison, not a claim that the series stayed constant.
The tell is a sustained decline from this range. That would indicate the activity adjusted holding reserve is shrinking. Another short daily dip would not be enough, and even a sustained fall would need a flow cross check before calling it distribution.

More hash. Less fee support.
Bitcoin's trailing 30 day hash rate is 966 EH/s, up 49% from 647 EH/s two years ago. Over the same period, transaction fees' share of miner revenue fell from 2.01% to 0.63%. The two panels keep those separate stories separate.
The recent recovery is visible too. Hash rate has climbed from about 904 EH/s in late July. But fees still supply less than one dollar in every hundred of miner revenue. A bigger network hash rate is not evidence of a stronger fee market.
My read: the network has added hash without building much fee support for miner revenue. That leaves the revenue mix heavily dependent on the subsidy valued in dollars. It does not prove miners are unprofitable, and these figures say nothing about any one miner's power bill or equipment efficiency.
The tell: the trailing 30 day fee share holding above 1% would improve that mix. That is a comparison level, not a profitability threshold or a security guarantee.
Source: Bitview, daily through 10 Oct 2026 UTC, latest day provisional. Hash rate is a per block weighted trailing 30 day mean. Fee share is transaction fees divided by coinbase output value over 30 days. Not advice.

The ETF leg has stopped helping.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs reported $484.9m out on 7 Oct and another $244.1m out on 8 Oct. That is $729m gone in two sessions, more than twice the $321.6m that came in across October's first four sessions. The month is now $407.4m out.
Late September was a different tape. The 21 and 22 Sep sessions alone brought in $1.71bn. The chart shows how quickly that pace faded, then turned negative.
My read: the ETF rebuild has stalled. That is a setback for the demand channel, not proof that every institutional investor is leaving. ETF flows mix different buyers and strategies, and two sessions do not establish a permanent trend.
The tell: positive flows that lift October's cumulative total back above zero would change the read. One small inflow would help, but it would not erase the hole.

Most coins are in profit. Most recorded capital is not.
At Price of 81.6k, 68.4% of Bitcoin supply is above its recorded cost. But weight those same coins by their USD value at UTXO creation, rather than treating each BTC equally, and only 43.1% of realized capital belongs to profitable outputs.
That is a 25.3 percentage point gap. Old coins with low recorded costs can lift the supply figure without carrying much weight in the capital figure. These are two views of unspent coins, not a count of investors or a measure of current market capitalization.
The chart puts this week's setback in the year's context. Capital profit share was 17.9% on 1 Aug and briefly reached 58.3% on 4 Oct. It is now back under half. The recovery from August is real, but the latest loss of that majority line makes it less convincing.
My read: coin breadth alone flatters the recovery. For an allocator, the capital weighting is the useful second check. It says more of the dollars recorded in the network remain attached to coins below their creation price.
The tell: capital profit share back above 50% would strengthen the recovery read. I would want the dollar weighted measure to confirm the coin weighted one, rather than call every profitable coin equal evidence of repair.

Price has slipped back under active price after four daily closes above it. On the 7 Oct UTC reading, Price is 83.2k against 84.8k for active price. That upper reference was reclaimed on 3 Oct and lost on 7 Oct.
The lower lines still matter. True market mean is 77.4k and short term holder cost is 74.2k. Price is 7.4% above the first and 12.1% above recent buyers' average cost.
My read: the upper reclaim failed, but the recovery base is still intact. I would not call a move below one reference a break of the whole structure while both lower lines hold.
The tell: a daily close back above 84.8k would repair the reclaim. A close under 77.4k would change my read on the recovery.
Active price and true market mean are cointime valuation references adjusted for coin activity, not proven support levels. Short term holders here are UTXOs younger than 150 days.

Short term holders are coins held under 155 days, and their average cost is the line the market defends or breaks. For 296 days after the October 2025 top, Price sat under it. Since 19 Aug Price has been above it for 49 days, the longest run in a year. Their cost has climbed from 67.0k to 74.2k, and Price is 85.2k, 15% above it.
My read: the overhang that capped every bounce this year has flipped into a cushion. Recent buyers are in profit.
The tell: a daily close under 74k would put recent buyers underwater again, and I would stop reading dips as support.

Old coins moved into the top. Supply untouched for 155 days or more fell 1.3m BTC after October 2025, then rebuilt 2.8m BTC to a 16.89m peak in July. It sits at 16.57m now. My read: the sellers are done for now. A fall back under 16m would say otherwise.

Miners cut hash rate 15% and are adding it back.
My read: the 30 day average hash rate peaked at 1,116 EH/s on 11 Nov 2025, fell to 902 EH/s by 28 Jul, and is now 953 EH/s, about 6% off the trough. Hash price, the daily US$ revenue per petahash per second before costs, bottomed at US$28 in June and is US$40 now. That is a 42% recovery in miner revenue per unit of hash.
Why institutions should care: a miner earning US$28 sells coins and switches machines off. A miner earning US$40 can fund operations and add capacity. That is less forced supply into the market and a network that is growing again rather than shrinking.
The tell that changes my read: hash price back under US$30, or hash rate falling below the July trough of 902 EH/s. Until then the miner stress of the summer looks behind us.

Price is 14% above what recent buyers paid.
My read: the short term holder cost basis is $73.7k and Price is $84.3k. Bitcoin reclaimed that line on 19 Aug and has held it for six weeks, after spending most of the past year underneath it. Short term holder MVRV is 1.14, a 96th percentile reading for the year, so recent buyers are sitting on real profit for the first time in a while.
Long term holders are not stretched. Their cost basis is $49.4k and their MVRV is 1.70, about the 63rd percentile. That gap is why this looks like a recovery with room, not a blow off.
The tell that matters: a daily close back below $73.7k would put recent buyers underwater again and turn that line from support into supply. Until then the trend is intact.

US spot ETF holdings are rebuilding. They are up 57k BTC in 30 days to 684k BTC, still 65k below the 9 October 2025 peak of 749k. Price is back near 84.7k.
My read: the ETF leg is the one doing the work. CME open interest sits in the 25th percentile of its 104 week range and large holder supply in the 23rd, so participation is narrow. The Institutional Participation Score is 40 of 100, up 6 on the week.
Medium term, price has tracked ETF holdings closely since late 2024, which is partly built in because the flows are priced daily. Long term, one cycle is a thin sample, so treat it as description, not a rule.
What changes the read: CME open interest and large holders both turning up, which would push the score toward 70. A return to net outflows would break the rebuild.
Price is Bitview daily, not an exchange ticker. Holdings reconstructed from daily ETF flows.

Recovery is not the same as repair.
Bitview now reads early bull, but the sentiment score averaged over 365 days remains 1.04 below zero. The recent recovery has not erased the past year's weaker structure.
Price is $83,289, above true market mean at $77,161 but below active price at $84,554 and the long holder line at $84,644.
My read: holding above that $84,600 area would strengthen the recovery case. Losing the $77,200 true mean would weaken it. These are model reference zones, not guaranteed support or resistance.
Medium term lens, not a call on the next candle. Open day may revise. Models, not exchange quotes or forecasts.
