@nprofile…3qha when we visited the US me and my husband had to ask the waitor what the correct amount of tip was. And then had to explain that we don't have that where were from or when it happens its not as formalised so its vague at best.
Since going to a restaurant was so uncomfortable we just stopped and mostly ate ready made meals from a shop.
The idea that I am meant to judge the staff based on some metric I don't understand is dehumanising

@nprofile…pfuj counter argument KINDA: the creation of art for whatever reason, by any quality, is its own reason.
By making something, anything, no matter how garbage it is, you are creating something - an act of living.
You can call it "training to get better" or "emotional support art" - but what it is is deeply human. You are carving "Croatoan" in to the bark of your own tree.
Sure professionally perhaps its different - its just that art should be made with passion, skill is secondary.

@nprofile…3g42 isn't there a story about that? How someone tasked with producing a huge amount of "random drug, preferably crack" had to raid evidence lockers around DC to get it?
Either way, considering Bush was part of Operation Condor, bringing crack to the US - its a bit of a "the lady doth protest too much"

I have NO ONE to tell this but the inventor of table-football (or Foosball in the US) Alejandro Finisterre was an antifascist and anarchist fighter in the Spanish civil war who escaped to South America to avoid the Francoist forces.
Once Francoist agents apprehended him with the intention of taking him back to Spain to face trial (and possible execution) but he faked that a soap he got a hold of was a bomb and the plane landed in Panama and he could escape.
The game was invented DURING the war

Me and my horrid admin @nprofile…3knj where out in sticks this weekend with our friends playing board and roleplaying games in a rented house at the shores of lake Vänern (see proof in image, as you can see: Vänern)
There is something wonderful in hanging out with friends as an adult. For a few seconds I don't see the middleaged wrecks that my friends have become, and instead a weird overlay where I can see the late teens/early twenties folk they once where and by extension making myself feel younger.

I'm not saying the locksmith we use for our company is dumb but dude thought a sticker with local right wing wanker Jimmy Åkesson using a pun about the Swedish words for "Third Reich", was some how Pro him?
He went on about immigrants and women (using different terms for both) until I stopped him...
Its a rather strained vibe here right now :D

I know I don't post much on here - but it is my one and only social media network and I have a theory:
Basically that social media pushed me in a direction of interaction, and with all the dark design patterns removed (like on Masto) I am not...?
I rather read what others have posted here - and then I watch another video about bears fishing salmon, or try to learn a new skill.
And then I thought: Is Mastodon saving the internet by detoxing me from social media but also making me use it less?

So just so we all are on the same page, the pedophile Håkan that protects Eli in "Let the right one in" is exactly what is going to happen to Oskar in the book.
Sure he and Eli are the same age NOW, but he will be as obsessed with Eli in 40 years and she will want to find a new friend her own age.
I mean it cant be only me that assumed that right? That that was part of the horror?

but look at what you're saying. Imagine someone talking about another topic like you talk about this - to a stranger.
I think we both know what "people" you see others as a threat to: you. Its all about your fears, and sense of inability - and you lash out as best you can to defend that.

2024-06-23 18:15:47 UTC

So damn proud of a friend who came out as trans recently and decided to tell me.
Since I don't know who else she told - will keep that info anonymous and keep it under wraps around people who know her obviously. I just need to say how blubby and weepy I feel right now as someone trusted enough to be told.
Today have been pretty badass, worked, ate good food, got some more work, sat in the sun... and now this!

I have a plan of launching my own #AI service! Basically when I'm on the toilet I open to questions and similar and then I reply to them via my phone.
Sure I don't know much and tbh my abilities in general are limited but I will answer will the full confidence of a chatbot taught to not know the difference between truth and lies and the comparative damage to the environment is minimal!
