The media, especially supposed "respected" news outlets like [@newyorktimes](https://flipboard.com/@newyorktimes ), have failed America in the worst way possible. And for what? #Trump still views them as "the enemy." Their pandering to him only show they're afraid he'll shut them down altogether. By refusing to tell the truth about him, they are doing as much damage to themselves as they are to us. If the #US ever manages to free itself of the #GOP tyrants who are driving us into the ground, American "legacy" media will face a real reckoning.

I don't think it's edible. I could google it, I suppose. I have thinned it out once, and moved some to heavier shade. I'll probably do that again in the fall. That photo I included is just a generic wild ginger photo, not mine. I'll have to take a photo of mine and post it. Then you can see the wild strawberries.

I don't totally agree. How anyone could look at that fat, out of shape, babbling, tipsy fool and think he's a strong man is beyond me. But he feeds their need for revenge against everyone for which they have grievances. Isn't that what they want, to "own the libs?" When they say they'd rather be Russian than vote Democratic, isn't that what they mean? Though Putin sure does come across like a strong man, because HE can do what even Trump cannot--he can make his enemies disappear.
Trump isn't going to make MAGAts' enemies disappear. He's doing exactly the opposite. He's making MAGAts miserable by breaking his promises to them, AND the "elite Democrat libruls" are making even MORE noise than they were before.
Not only that, but some of us "libruls" don't even want to TRY to "connect" with MAGA anymore. Some of us are perfectly happy to let them reap the consequences of their own stupidity and vile behavior.

2025-03-06 00:59:01 UTC

And there's the rub. As Trump demonstrated during his first regime, he is NOT a strong man. He is a "I feel your grievance" man. Gotta grievance against Blacks? Trump's your man. Gotta grievance against people of other religions? Trump's your man. Gotta grievance against educated people? Trump's your man--he loves the "poorly educated." Gotta grievance against the "elites?" Trump makes fun of elites, so he's your man. People with grievances and fears of what they refuse to learn about--THAT'S who Trump appeals to.

Every time when I think the GOP has hit rock bottom and the country will finally throw them all out, they manage to grab more power and things become even worse.
I guess this shouldn't surprise me. It seems like we really have hit rock bottom this time, but I suppose the only thing that's happened is we are experiencing another American Revolution, again perpetrated by wealthy White enslavers who didn't want to pay taxes. We've been building towards this since 1783, the end of the last American Revolution.
So what's next? A revolt like that which occurred in France in 1789? Or like the Communist Revolution in 1917? Neither one ended very well for the king of France or the emperor of Russia.

I agree. Eliminate the Electoral College and institute ranked choice voting, and then we might even see a reduction in the influence of "big money" in elections.
Even with ranked choice voting, candidates are STILL going to have to communicate effectively with voters to get them to vote for them.

No, "people" don't blame Democrats for not stopping it, Democrats like me blame Democrats for not stopping it.
I have personal experience in this. I tried to get a Democrat to show some backbone and even with evidence of GOP corruption, she wouldn't "stoop" to expose it. Her niceness and cluelessness lost her a governorship to a true crook.
I could continue. I've lobbied Dem strategists and political consultants whom I personally know to get the Dems to change the way they "talk to" voters. So far, nothing. The Dem establishment is still entrenched, and while it is, nothing much is going to happen. If you want evidence of that, read this:

They can blame the left as long as the Democrats let them. IF the Democrats were to go on the offensive, then maybe Trump voters' rage will be directed to Trump. The rest of his 2024 voters might very well turn on him if he doesn't "fix" everything he promised, and if inflation and the economy worsen. #MAGA #GOP #Trump #TrumpCanFixIt #Inflation #economy

Kamala Harris had three months to campaign. Given Trump and his history, the Democrats should have been able to run my next door neighbor's cat and they still should have been able to win.
This was not Kamala Harris's fault. IMHO, this was the fault of an uneducated, aggrieved populace that the Biden administration failed to reach during its four years in office. This was the fault of a justice system that failed to contain the threats to our democracy. This was the fault of a media establishment that failed to hammer on the unsuitability of Trump and his candidacy, while nit-picking Harris and Biden to death.
You can blame Democrats, or neoliberals, or leftists who didn't vote. But culturally, the norms and values of the racist, religiously-bigoted states are still in place. "Keep 'em stupid, keep 'em voting Republican.

--By exec action or otherwise (after all, SCOTUS did give the president the power to do just about anything), remake SCOTUS to represent the interests of ALL Americans, and not only the White, wealthy, religious bigots. #Harris #election2024 #WishList

Actually, if you read the 2nd Amendment, there is NOTHING in there that prohibits regulating the types of weapons people can "bear." As we've seen with Roe v. Wade, if Scotus was determined to control guns, it would be easy for them to overturn any former "precedent."
If gun control groups wanted to make a federal case out of it, and if we had a #SCOTUS that wasn't full of partisan hacks, we could sue to get Congress to regulate weaponry. After all, the Commerce Clause gives Congress the ability to regulate inter-state commerce, which they refuse to do in terms of weaponry.
The #NRA, gun manufacturers, and their Congressional toadies have, IMHO, buffaloed the American people into believing that bearing ANY KIND of WMD is a 2nd Amendment "right." The assault weapons ban, which was allowed to expire by a #GOP Congress, demonstrates that it IS possible to regulate the kinds of armaments allowed in civilian hands.
