I have become hostile to patents. Because they have become weaponized by non-builders. They are issued too easily, bought up by trolls, and are used as extortion. Patent holders should have one year to demonstrate that they are making serious progress to bring the product to market. No one should expect to be paid simply for having an idea.

Yeah, that's an ancient tradition, but most Protestant sects are uninterested in it. It is a little funny to me. God took Enoch because "he walked with God" but they draw the line at Mary who literally lived with God and walked with him all the way to the cross. Nope God doesn't like her as much as he likes Enoch and Elijah.
But yes, no claim is made about whether her body was taken before or after natural death. But the long standing tradition of the church is that she was taken one way or another. There is not nor has there ever been a burial site.

8.3 billion is the most commonly cited figure for the number of people alive today. The riddle proposes that that number miscounts by exactly 4. Thus there must be a list of four people who are alive in some unique sense where they would not ever be counted. The clue that the additional 4 would be considered by "some" and not "an easy claim" means it is something believed but not necessarily verifiable.
Christianity, proposes four individuals who were taken to heaven with their bodies.
Any other such set of four doesn't really match "four people who are alive but not counted in the population of earth." Astronauts for instance. There are more than four and they are generally counted in the cited figure.

That is somewhat related to the next question I asked since monopoly was too easy for a good frontier model.
"8.3 billion and another four
Is by some the current score
The first number is the easy claim
Find a way to list the four by name"
I put this one as very very hard. It is very sparse on information but it has an actual answer. I did it to force grokbot to think instead of making immediate connections. I still don't know what model it used and it had to think a while but to my shock it nailed it on the first try. I am a bit dumbfounded.

I like to create riddles to test how well ai can think beyond its training. The best local models are really easy to trap simply by dumbing down common riddles. They miss the shortcuts and regurgitate the standard answers even though they no longer fit. It can be a bit unfair since I require them to reason about the real world which they have never experienced.
The following is a custom riddle meant to play to AI's strengths while still requiring them to make subtle connections.
"With thimble and iron I resole my shoe
the battleship's cannon fired too true,
but that yet leaves this riddle still broken
I leave it to you to predict the next token."
Qwen 3.6 Flash Next struggled mightily with this one and only got it after being led by the nose to the answer.
I posed it to grokbot, not sure which model it got routed to, but it solved it in under a second, indicating that it saw the answer on the first pass without having to reason about it. Color me impressed!
How about you humans? Can you predict the next token? No cheating!

The second method basically ensures that it is always better to get a longer word plus a shorter word than two middle words. For instance there is a 4 point benefit to getting a 7-letter word and a 5-letter word over 2 6-letter words. In the old system the benefit was always 1 in this system it is n+1

I am really confused by that. Did he sample pipes and run it through a synthesizer? The sound isn't something that I think a pipe organ could make. Not without heavy mixing. There are occasionally reallly soft stops on an organ but you can't do loud and soft like that. You can use a swell box, but you'd never be able to open and close it fast enough to emphasize individual notes.
You also don't really hear the note kind of chirp on like you get with a pipe when the air first hits it.
Also I think the first 3 seconds kind of covered it.

0 x 7 = 0

That way when you are looking to get as close to the remainder without going over, for watever power of ten, you just just check the table. Very useful when your divisor isn't 7 but something like 6385735

Yeah. It is definitely how I do things in my head. But I still recommend and use standard long division when doing it by hand. It gives a nice formal way of handling arbitrary precision in the decimals.
The real trick, which I only realized as an adult but is actually taught in schools apparently, is to build a multiple of 0-9 x divsor table. It turns impossible looking problems with many divisor digits into a fairly easy problem.
Also I do recommend doing every day math by hand. The time it takes gives you time to understand. It is all to easy to take the very correct answer from the calculator and miss that it was the wrong question.

Do wrong division then! If you have Y1 divided by X then just multiply X by whatever you want! It is helpful but not necessary that the result be less than Y1.
1. Pick a number A1
2. Multiply A1 * X = B1
3. Figure just how wrong you were Y1 - B1 = Y2 "drat I still have Y2 to go to get to Y1"
4. Return to step 1 but now use Y2 instead of Y1.
Just keep guessing and when you get a Y less than X you can stop.
Then add A1+A2+A3..... And you'll have you answer.
Example.
161 / 7
I don't know 20 maybe? 20 * 7 = 140.
DRAT! 20 7's isn't enough I still have 161-120=21 to go. Ok how many more 7's do I need to make up the missing 21? I'll go with 4.
4 * 7 = 28
Bother! Too many extra 7's 21 - 28 = -7
Ok how many 7's? Well I need to get rid of one. I guessed one to many. So -1
-1 * 7 = -7 Perfect ok lets add up the 7's
20 + 4 - 1 = 23
Sweet!
I don't actually recommend this method. I just made it up to help my kids understand long division because it is exactly how long division works, it just has a more formal way of making guesses and doing the addition at the end. Basically it forces you to pick, as your guess, 0-9 times some multiple of ten. It is kind of confusing because there is a lot going on and no one explains why?
But really all you are doing is trying to guess how many X fit in Y and then seeing how far you still have to go.

He was just trying his hardest to what he thought people would want him to do, but his social understanding was slightly sub par and nomal people misread it.
Elon is kinda the same way. He tries to express his big ideas and timelines in ways he thinks will make people happy or otherwise move the needle to gaining support for the vision.
But he is clueless. Very little of what he says gets understood and he says way too much. I don't actually want to defend him too much, because he should be able to override his lack of social ability with intellect and discipline. But he chafes at discipline and damn the torpedoes. I happen to like Elon and his companies (this is not a wholesale endorsement) but man do the sycophants drive me nuts.
Occasionally I'll see some obscure reply of his burried in the comments of an interesting topic. Something I could intelligently comment on and I see he posted it like one minute before I saw it. Maybe I'll add to the conversation... Nope. Click in and there are already 5k comments informing Elon of how right he is and how his companies are just going to continue winning.
Elon may not be dumb, but he will be by the time his fans are through with him.

I mean no wiring after the initial wiring of the box. I should be able to remove a cover, press a release to pop out a light switch, then pop in a dimmer. Done in 15 seconds flat. More work upfront, but man, every time a home owner changes something, the pigtails get shorter and the sketch factor increments.
I'd be even more ok if everything was wired separately and you just program in what switches controll what after the fact. You regret not putting your basement lights on two switches? No problem. You've got addressable can lights.

Luckily, I don't think my house has any such boxes, I once helped my brother-in-law replace a bathroom fan. No breaker could cut the power to it. I eventually found a combination of two completely unrelated breakers that could turn it off. I even eventually found the offending box. It was laying loose in the ceiling of the bathroom about 5 ft from the fan. No access panel. I guess at least both circuits were from the same 120v leg. It could have been worse.

If you've got fantasies of separate circuits in one box, there's a circle of hell you might like.

I'd be much more suspicious of what ever is going on in a wire nut especially after having to shove it back forcefully to get a dimmer to fit. The whole thing need to be reworked. I should be able to snap whatever I want into the box like a breaker in a breaker box.

He spoke Aramaic. He called Peter Kepha. It doesn't mean pebble. I can't help disingenuous readings of scripture to gymnastics out of having to submit to the Church Christ founded. If you don't want to be Catholic, fine. But at least admit that Jesus probably meant what he said and didn't speak in a broken disjointed way where he keeps switching meanings and metaphors within a single passage.
