🇮🇩 Indonesia 🇮🇩 has been protesting for days
as their skies have literally turned ORANGE from the pollution forest fires lit by Neo Colonialism
#ACAB fired tear gas at thousands of student-led protesters in central Jakarta on October 28. About 14,000 police officers were deployed alongside soldiers, according to AFP. The protest was called #IndonesiaSadar by the University of Indonesia student union and Komite SADAR, a coalition of student groups.
Its slogan is “Tepati atau Pergi”, or “Keep your promises or go.” (sounds like Serbia, Brazil, Nepal, Albania 😈)
Trade unions, civil society groups and ordinary residents joined. The main grievance is the fires. Satellite monitor Nusantara Atlas estimates more than 1.9 million hectares burned from January to September 2026. The government’s last official figure is 202,000 hectares, from the end of July. It has published no official figure since. The government refuses to declare a national disaster and says the fires are under control. Schools have closed in Malaysia and East Timor because of the haze. In South Papua, critics link the fires to land clearing for state National Strategic Projects, including food estates, palm oil and mining. Komite SADAR has five demands: declare the fires a national disaster, try the companies responsible, cut spending on political projects presented as popular programs, lower education costs and end the military’s role in civilian life.

By the way, is there any way to do deepfakes and that sort of video editing? Or audio editing? I was trying to deepfake a person in a video with a second provided picture and couldn't get it to work at all. Even the models that have both IMG to vid and vid to vid can't seem to do this. Especially since this is the biggest normie use case for ai and all of the solutions that do it are shitty single purpose "sign up for free trial and forget" apps. And it seems OAI and Gemini refuse any deepfakes of public figures.
Also, if you could figure out a way to provide the audio and video models as tools available to a text model with visual input, it would massively help some use cases.
