the DNC is fully aware they're in a class war and treat it as such; they're not on the side they claim to be, but that of their rich compatriots. If there was ever any doubt, I feel like watching them do _nothing_ for two years while Hispanic people are rounded up and put into concentration camps... only to turn around and declare "war" on progressive candidates in their own party should make it pretty clear.
The DNC is an active hindrance to progress in this country, and until people like Schumer and Ken Martin are out, they're a party actively obstructing progress. They are taking up valuable space that must be used by people to push _against_ fascism. They're a first line of defense for the oligarchy, honestly.
I hate it.

2026-04-22 07:19:55 UTC

Actually, I would like to know more about Chinese history; I have some brief highlights from a broad upper level class I took on Eastern Asian history about, uh… a long time ago; it covered mostly modern stuff for China, such as Chiang Kai-shek, Mao, Cultural Revolution, etc, as well as some stuff about Japan and a little about Korea. But it was all modern (which, you know, useful! but), a long time ago, and covered multiple nations.
Does anyone know of a good book or series of history books on Asia? I’m mostly interested in pre-modern, in this case, and maybe aimed at something that isn’t designed to be a textbook… mostly because I have plenty of reading to do already and some books, while excellent resources, can be… a bit dry for bedtime reading. My curiosity is currently driven by wanting to know about pre modern China buuuuut recommendations in general are appreciated!

The intro to the song has a sequence with bells, and the entire thing has a very... darkness of ancient space about it, with synths. I think it was from a game from the late 90s or early 00s, likely PS2 or Dreamcast. Pretty sure it was an RPG? Someone gave me an MP3 of it ages ago.
Anyway, here's me singing a little snippet of the tune. If that sounds at all familiar... I feel like maybe the song had the word "gate" in it, or maybe the game did? I really don't know.

I guess that raspberry pi 4B really did kick the bucket. No sign of life.
welp
Any recommendations for a tiny device w/ USB and Linux installable that isn't made by the cop lickers at raspi?

has there been any photograph or video potentially showing any identifying information re: what military or armed force it might belong to?

and of course, neither of those guys has faced actual consequences for their bullshit. They are both still employed by... whatever it is they do.
Meanwhile, anyone who was BIPOC or LGBTQ and of a somewhat higher profile that even vaguely gestured towards charlie kirk's death without publicly sobbing and wailing in grief was fired.

look I try not to indulge in conspiratorial thinking, because that's a never ending rabbit hole
but Kesh Patel is a really fucking bad FBI director, in that the other FBI directors were better at lying when it suited them. And like, so: someone is sniping at an ICE facility, allegedly because they are "anti-ICE", and yet somehow they only hit and kill... the detainees? like. they had the element of surprise and enough time to kill two people and injure a third and yet somehow... no guard was harmed? What happened there, exactly? The people the administration illegally kidnapped and held without trial jumped in front of the bullets to save the fucking J6 and Proudboys who ripped them out of their fucking cars? Aren't the ICE people in some sort of uniform? Isn't there, you know. A TELL?
I just think Kesh Patel is full of shit, and given his track record on blaming "the left" for shootings, well.

yeah… I feel like “Democrats lining up to condemn the killing of a man who repeatedly called for democrats, immigrants, and LGBTQ people to be killed” is really such a perfect encapsulation of what’s wrong with the democratic ‘leadership’ right now.
The guy’s entire career was political violence. He made money off of political violence. Cripes.

You cannot separate Newsom from his embrace of anti-trans politics. You cannot trust Newsom to "fight against Trump" and pretend that it's a totally separate thing that he's courting nazis and bigots on his podcast.
He's not "fighting against Trump", he's fighting for _himself_. He's attempting to suck all the oxygen out of the room and build himself a little rah rah base. He's made it clear he doesn't think people with houses or trans people are worthy of respect and defense; _why_ do you think that his saber rattling against Trump is going to end well for you?
This is the, "I judge a dating partner by how well they treat the waitstaff" litmus test. Just because he's making a big show of going against Trump does not mean he's here for you; he is embracing fascist talking points. He might end up "being better" in that maybe he harms fewer people but WE CAN DO BETTER.
Newsom's anti-trans shit isn't something you can set aside; it's a marker of who he is and what his strategy is. It's a ploy for power.
A lot of people who voted for Trump came up with reasons like "oh he supports the farm bill" "oh he'll lower my taxes" and just ignored all the racism and fascism and _look how well that turned out_. You set it aside at your own peril.

looks like the hastily applied paint job on the technology that literally does not work like that is starting to fall off, so a quick reminder: if/when employers come hiring again, _unionize_
they've already played their hand that they'll replace you with the _idea_ of competence. Just because they're forced to come back and hire again doesn't mean you should trust them. Organize, if you can. They lied to you once, they'll lie to you again.

us politics right now are like
republicans: building concentration camps, dismantling any remnants of the state that might be used for the public good, re-codifying a deeply bigoted hierarchy, cementing a dictatorship in place, destroying access to information and the world outside of the US in general
democrats: "so here's why I agree with republicans on why a single trans woman tying for fifth place in a swimming contest is something we all need to talk about"
fuuuuuuck you

I hope the Next Big Thing in technology is naps, so that we just start shoving naps into everything, absolutely everything.
