4,000 words of sapphic smut and angst, just in time for the end of kinktober!
cw for knifeplay, blood. nsfw.
Featuring my oc Alana de Riva and my favourite minor background NPC, Noa de Acutis. Veilguard fanfic but you don't need to know deep lore to enjoy, there's not much plot.

So, I weighed myself to check if I was having any unexplained weight loss due to some potential illness stuff and...nope, I've put on almost a stone and am what is technically known as heckin' chonky.
Guess eating pizza and doing less hiking will do that to a gal, especially one on hrt too.
So....yeah, I should really do something about that.

Just a reminder since the uk has gone and done a transphobia again, please content warn your relevant posts and don't boost posts without a content warning that could cause distress to your trans friends. We know already, we don't need to have it blasted into our timelines, thanks.

#FediCoven Q14 What, if anything, does “the thinning of the veil” mean to you? What realm lies beyond the other side?
*Insert optional spooky noise. 👻
Veils are always pretty thin, aren't they?
But I do think there's something in it, something about the autumn that makes slipping into a magical liminal space easier, just so long as you stay grounded enough not to be spirited away by the fae.

#FediCoven Q13 How do you feel about Halloween?
When I was a kid, and a girl even though I didn't know it yet, it was the day I got to dress up as a witch and pretend to fly a broomstick. Every other day I had to pretend to be a boy but that day was different, you could be anyone you want.
And now I'm a trans woman and practicing Hekatean witch so I get to be that every day.
I don't like the plastic Halloween tat, but I appreciate its magic still.

2026-09-27 08:20:19 UTC

#FediCoven Q12 Within the context of your practice, who are your ancestors?
I don't do a lot of ancestor work in my practice. My blood ancestors are not welcome in my circle, for reasons.
I acknowledge the ancestors of land, as I live somewhere that's been inhabited since the neolithic, there's a lot of them.
I'm inspired by queer and trans ancestors and aspire to live up to their courage.

Some stuff the other day made me seriously consider leaving the fediverse but no...I'm staying. I have friends here and I'm building new connections.

#PennedPossibilities 1137: Do you have an FMC, MMC, other gender MC, or more than one MC?
So many acronyms, lol!
My usual main character, Alana, is nonbinary. They stared gender in the face and said no.
- "Alana, are you a girl or a boy?"
- "I am a Crow. A deadly assassin."
- "but what's in your pants?"
- "a knife" *stabs you*

#FediCoven Q11 How do you acknowledge the autumnal equinox and do you celebrate Mabon?
I don't call it Mabon for reasons other people have mentioned in their answers, but the autumn equinox is a very significant time for me personally, it's a time of renewal after the draining heat of summer.
I've just got back from a witchy retreat to reconnect with nature and my path, for the weekend before the actual equinox.

Is WIP Wednesday a thing on here?
Playing around with a couple more fanfic ideas, and I'm liking the thought of doing a classic whodunnit on a boat that morphs into eldritch horror - "Death on the Nile" meets "Call of Cthulhu".
Not sure I'll be able to pull it off, but it could be a fun case for Detective Neve Gallus.

#FediCoven 2026 Q5: What helps you feel welcome in a pagan or witchy space? And what doesn't?
Genuine inclusivity - by which I mean no overt transphobia but also no gender essentialist god/goddess binary, womb magic, divine feminine/masculine stuff.
Also, just treat me like anyone else, don't make me feel like the token trans person you keep around to prove how inclusive you are.
Just be chill.

2026-08-23 17:54:53 UTC

#FediCoven 2026 Q4: How do you identify? (Witch, druid, pagan, shaman, medium, 'all of the above'?)
I like the term Hedgewitch, as meaning a nature-focused solitary witch. My main deity is Hekate, but as she is also a nature goddess of liminal spaces, she pairs nicely with Hedgewitchery. Most of my practice is about connecting with the land around me, learning its ecology and folklore, and working in relationship with it.
To most people I just say pagan or witch. I was a druid, once.

2026-08-22 17:44:00 UTC

Went to an alt-pride thing and just kinda felt like I was out of place. I'm too queer for normie spaces, but maybe too normie for the really radical queer spaces, idk.

@nprofile…hgrn @nprofile…s8h3 definitely something in the ether today, which I didn't even know I needed.
I'd like to practice more intuitive magic. Which might start with kitchen witching a spicy stir fry tonight, get that fiery energy going.

@nprofile…hgrn "magic is eclectic creative chaos" - I've trained in various traditions and always chafed at all their rules and prescriptions, and this is so much more freeing. Also excellent timing as @nprofile…s8h3 was just telling me about chaos magic this afternoon.

2026-08-21 13:42:33 UTC

#FediCoven 2026 Q3 - Are you out of the broom closet?
Selectively, but mostly. And in different degrees. To most people, I'll say I'm pagan if it comes up (which is rare because people don't talk about religion much in the uk). To friends I'll be more specific about my path if they ask. I do always wear a pentagram because if the christians can wear their crosses, why shouldn't I wear a symbol of my path?
I guess I dress kinda witchy, in a soft goth/hippy sort of way.

@nprofile…wvvh that is such a cool way of doing magic, that personal connection that's different for everyone is such a great way to show their characters and how they connect and experience mystic energy.

#FediCoven 2026 Q2 - What role does self-care play in your practice? Any tips?
I am notoriously bad at self-care until my body decides to do it for me, so this is a useful prompt to remind me to actually do this more. Funny how years of dysphoria give a girl a weird relationship with their body, hey?
My favourite self-care practice is yoga, I try to do this most days. Napping is good too, we're all running on less sleep than we need.

#FediCoven 2026 Q1 - For those who have a form of divination in their practice, does this indicate to you that the universe is predestined/deterministic?
I think of the 'verse as conscious, and we co-create the future. Divination is more of a reflection tool for me than a fortune-telling one. It can show possibilities but whether they are made real or not is up to you.
(Yay Fedicoven q's are back, thank you @nprofile…hgrn )

2026-08-06 11:23:40 UTC

I'm a trans woman. I don't "pass". I don't feminise my voice. I'm autistic. I take up space. I advocate for myself and others. I'm sapphic and polyamorous. I'm a witch. I work in a university, exposing students to dangerous ideas like how trans people exist and can have successful teaching careers.

#WordWeavers 22. If your MC could steal one thing without consequences, what would it be?
Viago's prized vintage bottle of Storm Age Chateuneuf du Divin. Alana's tried to steal it many times, just to see the look on Viago's face, but he's swapped it out for poisoned decoys, moved it to another cellar, had it locked behind anti-magic wards... One day, Alana knows, it will be theirs.

2026-07-21 12:18:07 UTC

So I know that calorie tracking and restriction can lead to disordered eating, especially in neurodivergent folk and folk with a history of trauma. Yet every time, I'm like "oh but I can do it without spiralling" and...nope.
So I'm stopping doing that. I'm eating well, exercising, etc. but look: I'm a curvy gal and that's hot. I love food, and cooking, and treats, and enjoying my life. And that means more than a number on a scale.

2026-07-18 07:45:19 UTC

The Heartstopper film was beautiful, but you can tell they originally wanted to do a full series and had to cut stuff out - yay Netflix cancelling another queer show - so it was a bit disjointed in places.
But it was a fun movie date night with @nprofile…x4v7 🥰

2026-07-17 15:48:42 UTC

Anyway, I'm [number] months away from [socially significant age] so I'm thinking I better do something about that. Like pick up some weights, or take up pole dancing, or perform eldritch invocations to ancient nameless powers beneath the gibbous moon. Y'know, the usual things.

2026-07-17 15:13:28 UTC

Hm, I notice I kind of tone myself down on here, and am weirder on tumblr. Could be a difference in cultures, could be some hangups I've picked up over various fedi instances. But...I should get weirder.

@nprofile…hgrn yep. I'm wary of calls for growth of the fediverse for the sake of growth. A lot of us are here because the big social media sites became hostile and uninhabitable. #WordWeavers 13 - To your MC’s LI, what is the most admirable thing about the MC?
Neve finds Alana's tenacity both admirable and frustrating. She sees a lot of herself in the way that they never know when to give up, though she does wish Alana would take better care of themself.
Alana thinks the same applies to Neve.
They're both kind of disasters, really.

@nprofile…hgrn it really is. And I get so annoyed that book gets recommend to people dealing with trauma. Sigh.

@nprofile…hgrn exactly that. And he uses neuroscience that was debunked decades before this book, and cites studies that either don't exist, or don't say what he claims they say. And he's really quite misogynistic too and has a tendency to be sympathetic to men who've had war trauma but victim blaming to women with other traumas.
I know from experience that physical healing is such an important part of trauma healing but just not for the reasons he says. Also, that book gave me nightmares.

Listening to the "If Books Could Kill" podcast on The Body Keeps the Score, and I'm reminded of all the reasons why, both as a trauma survivor and as an academic librarian, I fkn hate this book.

@nprofile…wvvh "too purple" in this case meaning actually has some character and emotion to it, no doubt.
Also just ask Nitara, as she gazes into Ashrah's eyes and I'm sure she'd say there's no such thing as too purple. 💜

@nprofile…wvvh Alywyll, heck yeah! What a shot, too, the expression on her face feels weary but stubborn.

Ok, let's get it right this time!
Hi, I'm River, your local queer witchy librarian! :heart_progress:
I'm trans, poly, neurospicy and enjoy reading and writing fanfic, anime, gaming, hiking, and hexing the patriarchy.
I'm new here but not new to the fediverse - after moving around a bit (ok, a lot), I'm looking for a chill place to stop awhile.
Trying to keep things cozy so follow requests are subject to a vibe check, so say hi first!
