#WordWeavers: If your MC were to make a grand entrance, what song would accompany them?
For Marissa the human love interest in WCAP, this song fits her attitude and experience as she is desperate for change and adventure in her life and unwittingly enters a town full of paranormal beings.

#WordWeavers: If your MC made a grand entrance, what music would accompany them?
For Caylor, the pigeon-obsessed ghost love interest in WCAP, it would be something quieter and completely fitting him, as he shpws up surrounded by living and ghost pigeons.

#WordWeavers: What secret would cause the most damage if it were revealed in your story right now?
For WCAP, the fact that Caylor is a ghost stays humorously hidden from the one MC until the end of the book. The readers know he’s a ghost from the first chapter or blurb.

I’m not saying the meaning never gets known. Sometimes it doesn’t need to be spelled out exactly, but usually it is at some point.

That’s interesting. Not sure what it says about me, lol, but I have ordinary objects loaded with meaning in most of my books. I’ve found as a therapist that a lot of people have something like that in their lives, and it works really well as symbolism and showing their emotions and such.

The question means what object might seem at first to readers (or to others in the story other than the owner of the object) to be insignificant?😊

2026-09-01 00:22:51 UTC

#WordWeavers: What’s one thing you hope readers remember long after they finish reading your story?
For my Finding Humanity series, I hope they remember the characters, but also maybe became aware of something new in their lives or our society.
For Werewolves, Chocolate, & Pigeons, I hope they remember how magical any community can become by all looking out for each other.

1. What is something your MC desperately wants but would never admit to wanting?
2. What would your MC notice first upon entering a crowded room?
3.Share a line from your WIP that reveals more than the speaker intended.
4. What seemingly insignificant object in your story carries a lot of emotional weight?
5. If your antagonist could justify their actions in one sentence, what would they say?
6. What is your MC hilariously bad at?

#WordWeavers: What’s one question you’re still trying to answer about your story?
Only one?😂 My characters keep a lot of secrets and often surprise me.
In my WIP Werewolves, Chocolate, & Pigeons, the MC’s best friend Wendy has a line of dialogue that shows I’ve clearly underestimated this chaotic but fun SC. I understand what she’s saying but she clearly has unknown-to-me secrets to be able to say that line.👀😂

The first chapter of The Ruined would smell like wood smoke, burnt stew, and a “new helicopter” smell.

I’ve heard D2D (Draft2Digital) now has a paperback version that is comparable to zon cost-wise and wide. I’ve used IngramSpark, but they’re a bit awkward with upload. They print the best, though. Colors are gorgeous.

I started writing The Calling at the original heyday of dystopian literature (2011), and specifically wrote it to seem in the beginning like a “Dystopian, chosen one” trope that later gets usurped to “Hopepunk, no chosen one, everyone is responsible,” … 1/2

…because I felt we all needed new stories where each of us can affect things and make a difference, where society CAN change to overcome violence, & we CAN live in harmony with our planet. It’s multiple POV because the real MC is all of humanity.
