I know this is extremely subjective but if you were writing a complicated config file with lots of commenting what format would you choose?
All answers welcome

Keyboard advice for small hands desired
I have used a small travel "iclever" keyboard for years, because it's smaller and the size is more appropriate for my hands. It broke last week, and before I just buy the same cheap keyboard again, does anyone have actual experience with a smaller key "nice" keyboard (preferably split)?
(I do not need any AI results but if you have suggestions for search terms to use it might be useful)

I've been looking for guided meditations for sleep and the space has been absolutely flooded with AI crap. I guess I need to look for actual CD's published before 2012 or something and then rip them?
Anyway if anyone has any suggestions let me know. I'm hoping for something that has several 20 minute or so options. Something I can download to a device, rather than paying a monthly fee or accessing from a web page.

@nprofile…pfuj he recently said in a video "every single programmer I know uses AI" and I was like... you need to vary your network if you are going to "report" on this stuff

The only three devices I have* that don’t change times on their own are the stove microwave and car, and all of them have immediately intuitive clock controls. At least SOME things get better over time
* besides the grandfather clock, which I can’t keep wound anyway so we are always resetting it
Somehow my thermostat adjusts time on its own, despite not being on wi-fi. Atomic clock, perhaps?

@nprofile…gu7x The other thing that strikes me about this is the fact that he CAN take sick days but did not. Why? Why continue to work? What is it that makes people think that this article is SO IMPORTANT that they can’t sleep when sick? (Unless that was all a made up excuse but I kinda doubt it)

@nprofile…puf6 I bought one book from bookshop, but then found out I can only read on their app, I can't download a copy to keep/read on my ereader.
If anyone tries bookshop, please let me know if this has changed!
I switched to buying from kobo, which uses adobe drm for the books that have drm, and drm free downloads for books that are published without drm.

Request for help:
Please link me examples of alt text that greatly expands/explains the meaning of the image, especially if it has context only the original poster/author/artist could provide. I would like to put some great examples side by side with AI generated alt text to make a point to someone about how humans doing this work is better than AI, even if AI is better than nothing (I have a few, but would like a big set to choose from). Would like charts in addition to photos and illustration

I really wish people would stop telling other people to "get off mastodon.social"
It is very unhelpful advice. Lots of people start there, and then move off when they are ready. Some stay there, and it's fine. At the least, promote your own instance and how cool it is rather than just tell someone they are doing it wrong. Offer to help with migration!
So many people go "fine, I guess I'll just go back to Twitter/Bluesky" after being chastised a few times, and it's understandable!

2025-05-27 17:05:52 UTC

I volunteered to do a lightning talk on mastodon for work, please send your best (work safe) mastodon memes #mastodon

Frankly kind of tired of "but don't you know how HARD it is to not use meta products" (previously: Twitter) posts
Yes, resisting fascism is hard. Finding a new place to post cat photos or whatever is the very LEAST of how hard it will get
And it doesn't have to be all or nothing! People seem to be using the excuse that they have to use it for one thing to mean they have to use it for everything else, too

@nprofile…args I read this and cried this morning. If even one adult had talked to other adults and said "hey maybe this year let's not tease Karin until she cries this time" I think I would have a much better outlook on family get togethers. As it was, I was a target - not from my cousins, but from my uncles and grandpa, who loved to pick at all the ways I was different and didn't belong.
