I believe MMT started with good intentions. That said if your plan for say a railway system resulted in crashes every 5 to 10 years you’d reassess if it was working (hopefully).

I get most of my signal from the ridiculous news articles that are clearly paid for manipulation on TradingView.

In school when you did algebra you were given various values for a or b or x and y and if you were given enough real life values for those things you could figure out all the values of the other letters in the equation.
When you sign a Bitcoin transaction you need to use a random number to prevent people eventually having enough values for the a/b/x/y and figure out your private key if you do multiple transactions with it.
Deterministic nonces (nonce = random number) are based off the hash of the transaction you’re signing so will only ever be used once. This prevents signers messing up the random number that protects your private key.
This is what I think I learned this weekend. Now I think I know why NVK keeps mentioning them in Bitcoin Review.

“But the founders of Tether are Bitcoiners” still doesn’t quite fit for me.

Yes such a strange comment / almost defensive yet the game plan was clear.

Nostr based decentralized fee estimator based on input from network of pleb nodes?

2025-05-06 10:42:34 UTC

When do we get vaults? Can we get that after the high priority OP_RETURN change is done?

2025-05-02 03:08:40 UTC

Would be cool if there was a way to sign against an anonymous utxo set to prove ownership of an unspent amount at the same time nodes could verify no “double spending of utxo proofs”. I don’t know exactly what I’m saying but verifiable proof of ownership against the issuance might be a future Bitcoin self preservation feature against paper bitcoin.

Same - the bidding page is very complicated even for someone who has mined before. Unclear what you’re paying for or if you’re throwing sats in to the ether.
Assuming good intentions - the idea of collectively mining a block as a small pool is nice idea. The bidding page gave me the same vibes as reading a crypto white paper.

Current thought:
I imagine a lot of people run 2/3 or 3/5.
Now we have miniscript so we can do degrading multisigs.
But both require safe harbor for a descriptor or unique wallet software.
In the worst case scenarios, regulatory attack, or duress perhaps funds can still be lost.
Can predated presigned transactions be useful here, if the multisig is accidentally or intentionally destroyed?
Laser engrave 10 presigned transactions with different fee rates set to an nlock time (?) N halfings in the future. Receive address is a standard single sig (memorized).
I am almost certain this could be a #footgun so other thought….
Dream episode of @npub1qdc…zclt where plebs get to submit their unique ideas to prevent coin loss and @npub1az9…m8y8 @npub17u5…t4tp @npub1mxr…0htc rip them apart - “footgun review”.

One thing that strikes me is the panic in the markets at 10% moves.
Bitcoiners are a funny mix of bearish takes but also inbuilt optimism and resilience that no matter what happens we are going to be ok.

First time I read about Bitcoin I had no idea what problem it solved. Age taught me that, I expect that’s why most people ignore it, don’t realize there is a problem.

Companies like Unchained and Swan must KYC you because they provide financial services but Nunchuk and Casa don’t so as long as you can’t be identified from the email you use then they are probably your best options to look into. I think both allow you to pay in bitcoin too so there won’t be a credit card on file either.

It’s not the size of the miners pleb miners run that counts, it’s the number of plebs running miners that counts. 100 plebs running 1TH miners provides more decentralization and censorship resistance than a single pubco running a single 100TH miner.

No unfortunately there is no way to do both at the same time. People have talked about a mixed model pool before but it doesn’t exist.
I run against CK because I’m 100% confident I’ll get paid.
