Mayor Zohran Mamdani announces AI/LLM policy for NYC public schools - these will be banned in schools from 2K to 8th grade (among other things).
"We know the purpose of AI companies [...] it is to produce a profit. Here in our NYC public schools, our purpose is our students. It does not matter how profitable a product is: if it doesn't help our students learn and grow, we will not use that product"

That's when I decided that I would always roast outside after that attempt.

Dem leadership don't really understand democracy, but they do understand branding and that their brand is dying now. They still don't understand why, which is why they react with confusion and anger as we've seen recently.

After her video call last week with Deiver and another boy held at Dilley, Accurso told NBC News she is now embarking on a new mission closer to home: working with lawyers and immigration rights activists “to close Dilley and make sure that kids and their parents are back in their communities where they belong”.'

Emergency responders shouldn't be forced to play nanny for self-driving cars. Any of them that misbehaves should be impounded and the company responsible for these cars heavily fined (not returning the car until fine is paid). Any vehicle with multiple violations should be confiscated and scrapped as they've proven to be unsafe.

Yes, these gochu were the right choice. They are loving this weird summer. There are three other plants with these peppers in our garden and I will be harvesting and cooking with them soon.
Also, I need to be weeding the garden again. The same weather is making them way too happy.

One of our Korean chili plants in the garden - we bought them fairly cheap at a nearby HMart a couple of weeks ago, 7 plants total. The only label they had was "crunchy pepper", so I assume put-gochu.
I usually grow cubanelles but decided to try something different this summer.

When immigrants who had to do their immigration paperwork with little to no help from immigration attorneys tell you it's a very difficult, long and expensive process, maybe believe them/us? Becoming a legal resident who's allowed to work for any employer (or themselves) is by no means an easy series of tasks, especially if you lived in more than one country.
The immigration process in the USA is truly awful even with "ideal" candidates (enough money/from a "good" country)

Not surprised. I think Google has been messing with AI at a large scale with maps since last year, when I started noticing speed limits displayed by Google maps in driving mode being way off (55 mph in 30 mph zones I know well being very common).

I've been noticing many white women on Fedi really going hard on blaming Muslims for Harris losing, instead of looking at the majority of white women (53%) who voted for Trump and white men (59%). Which is a fairly small gap between the two, proving (again) that Whiteness regardless of gender is what caused this continuing mess that is called the USA pretty much since its founding.
I guess Islamophobia is easier than confronting your white peers.

I always like to wait until my #tomatoes are ripe to harvest them, but neighborhood squirrels make that impossible. Still, this mini-harvest doesn't look that bad. Will throw these in a zucchini + onion stir fry I think.
This season has been pretty good with regards to tomatoes, eggplants and peppers in our garden.

How to fix homelessness: free housing.
How to beat bus fare evasion: free buses.
Both methods cost less than punishing the poor by criminalizing and jailing them.
If you don't like the idea of being taxed to implement those solutions: I don't care - it would make our society objectively better so your annoyance is a small price to pay.

One problem is the fediverse itself and Mastodon in particular not offering any good enough tools to moderate racist abuse (or any abuse). Circumventing blocks is too easy so even if an instance has excellent moderation they will be overwhelmed.
Your reply indicates you're part of the problem as you didn't even know your suggestion is pointless. It won't stop abuse at all. On top of that, most white people here think everything is fine so don't do anything, not even getting informed.
