@nprofile…re2d definitely! I had an "interesting" conversation a few years ago, trying to explain that "using less resources" is not the same thing as "doing more with the same resources" and being met with "but the resources are wasted if you don't use them!"… What if, hear me out, what if not everything has to be "consumed"?

@nprofile…5x8e there's a quote I don't quite remember right now, about the fact that as soon as management starts caring about a metric it and make it a target becomes an anti target for developers

With Firefox 148, Mozilla finally did what they should've done from the start: you can now disable all "AI" features in one click, including future ones. You can also add exceptions, like decide that translations are ok.

@nprofile…50mt I can't find it again right now but someone has recently posted a webcam driver that takes dmabufs as input; look it up before you re-do some of the same work :)

@nprofile…zrxk is this going to be x86 only, or do you want to support arm as well? I'm happy to test that it you'd like
(I have it on itch so I'll test it when it's out, if you prefer doing that and posting an update with any fixes after)

Calling to anyone with nginx proxy experience:
In the Mesa CI, we use a proxy that passes requests from test devices through the gateway they're physically connected to and out to the internet.
The config is here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/blob/main/docs/ci/fdo-cache
That file includes this other file: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/blob/main/docs/ci/uri-caching.conf
On the last line of that second file, there is a bug: `$1` needs to be url-encoded, so that any `&foo=bar` argument in the `location:` header gets forwarded. Right now, they are lost.
Please help ❤️

It hasn't been mentioned in a reply yet, but this article really hit the nail on the head, especially when it comes to the emotional impact this whole thing has had on me:

I am looking for articles/etc. explaining the many kinds of problems with "AI"/genAI/LLMs to educate some colleagues that are apparently unaware, please send me everything you've seen :)
