@nprofile…vwt0 This is the way. Considering what the percentage cost of a GPU in a build is, you should be riding it out as long as you can. Even if it means foregoing visual effects, resolution, aliasing, et al.
I’m trying to teach my youngest BIL (18) this right now… like not everything needs RT and all the bells and whistles, especially at 1440p. Hell, at 1440p, on a properly sized display, you barely need AA enabled at all with modern games, let alone all the other crap out there.

I am super happy to see that @nprofile…s37t continues to build great systems, even when adding a new architecture!
I look forward to seeing how this line progresses! https://mastodon.social/@geerlingguy/113765020184496669

@nprofile…vwt0 One of my projects this year is to get my Model F USB-ified. It was the keyboard I had growing up and used through high school and beyond until the mid-2000s when I stopped having computers with PS2 ports (I’ve got a Teensy XT-to-PS/2 converter in there right now). I’d love to have it back in service beyond just retro computing. ^_^

@nprofile…vwt0 Does the Model M not do n-key rollover? The Model F does, but I haven’t used a Model M in like 30 years.

@nprofile…vwt0 Do you have a typical switch that you already like? 45+-15 is a little light for me, but I always planned on swapping to something with, like, 70+-15 or so. I’m used to a Model F keyboard, but even that is getting a little rough on my fingers as I progress through my 40s, but anything at or stronger than the Cherry MX Clears I have in my daily driver would be nice. :)

It really is brilliant. Now that they're shipping Apple silicon native Java, so no more Rosetta or tinkering with using your own Java, it's phenom!

@npub1d8y…g8p7 something something dual-gpu something.
Possible something wrong with Speedstep? Mixed GPUs and some software running on 1 but not the other?
The GPU Load thing on the 2nd screenshot looks like it's in line with the Intel GPU and not the NVIDIA GPU.

@npub1d8y…g8p7 https://netboot.xyz could also be up your alley. As long as you've got a NIC, you can PXE boot and install anything.

@npub1d8y…g8p7 What kind of filament are you using? Have you put anything on the print bed (it doesn't look like it, but had to ask, esp if you've got hair spray or something relatively clear)?

@npub1d8y…g8p7 What are you looking to do with either of them? What's the use case?

@npub1d8y…g8p7 Normal iPad line through the 9th gen never moved to 2nd gen Touch ID, which was the mechanical, moving home button.
iPad Air 3 had the 2nd gen Touch ID home button, but then moved to the current 2nd gen Touch ID in the sleep-wake switch.
iPhone moved to 2nd gen Touch ID in the 7.

@npub1d8y…g8p7 Your best bet is to use the website in Safari. Much like any other website-that-has-an-app-but-refuses-to-make-an-ipad-app.

@npub1nsq…23w7 Getting some real Mad Max wide angle opening chase scene shot vibes. Makes sense given where you are, and an awesome photo to boot!

@npub1up2…k6en Wow, that's actually an awesome restoration! 👏🏻 Gorgeous!
It's totally nostalgia for me. It was my first laptop, and it was the primary/only computer I had when I moved to Hungary for 2 years ('03-'05). Loved having multiple HDDs for it to swap between OS's and having the ability to do that, let alone multiple batteries when needed and so on. Part of the reason I keep an eye out for that model explicitly; gotta have that 400 MHz PII. ^_^

@npub1up2…k6en If memory serves (pun not intended), the D series had EDO and the A series had SDRAM.
They also used different audio/video controllers IIRC (A-series had NeoMagic 256 and I believe the D series had CirrusLogic chips).
Beyond that, I'm not entirely sure.

@npub1up2…k6en My favorite era of Dell portables! 😍 You have an incredible example.
I had, and now continue to search for, a Latitude CPI-A400XT from the previous year of the Inspirion 3000. Those machines were rock-solid beasts, regardless of product line. Ran everything from Windows 95 to XP; Redhat, FedoraCore, SuSE; BeOS; and everything else inbetween.
