Read for the discussion of using soulless theft-trash AI voices when there are literally thousands of fantastic actors who would have read for this for reasonable rates on an indie project. (It’s common for freelancers to flex based on project budget.)
Stay for the GLaDOS actor interview video.

And for me, it’s more like I can see how a future MacOS and a future iPadOS just blur into the same super-capable thing (including with new hardware options in the vein @nprofile…spxs’s always talking about these days).
I consider all of this a good thing.

@nprofile…spxs Yeah. Maybe I’m confused and misreading on a sleepy Sunday, but I was trying to say that your point is of course right, but the article title and intro (“bad modders, ‘good’ EA”) don’t match what the linked post summary says (“EA are bigots”).

@nprofile…spxs @nprofile…2qzl I can’t read through, but the intro says it’s about how *modders* created bigoted mods and EA can’t whack-a-mole fast enough.
Still awful, but not the same as EA making the mod, which is what the post says.
Or is it the latter and the article just doesn’t say so until later?

@nprofile…spxs When the speech is about the freedom to be an unempathetic jerk, or protects people with the most built-in protection, they’ll fight to the death for it.

@nprofile…spxs I think that blaming the phone itself is a problem. The obvious harmful draw isn’t the world’s knowledge or communicating with close friends and family. It’s broad (even school or community wide) social media engagement incentives, short form video, and predatory free to play games business models juiced to create addictive behavior that causes the harm.
We let an amazing opportunity for human growth become a dumpster of continuous ads and gambling because “profit growth at all costs”.

This out-Apples Apple. Genuine, clever, cutting edge, even uses their presentation playbook from the best days. And it feels human, real.
Love the details at the end.

@nprofile…spxs I agree with all of this… and I think that the people making those arguments can be right about what people notice or care about. My issues with the 8GB debate only arose when the opposite side started saying 8GB was unusable or would be imminently.
It wasn’t and isn’t. AND it’s fantastic and right that Apple changed the base to 16GB.

@nprofile…luvt You made my day with this link. And I sent it on to friends (not just feeds) and it will change their days for the better too.
Thanks and happy holidays. 🎄

This is wonderful. You should read it instead of whatever “social” scrolling you have planned for today (or tomorrow). You will feel better. I feel… better.

@nprofile…spxs Great. All this while being easily my favorite content of the last _several_ years. This year being no exception.

@npub1psd…9sr7 Heh. I feel the same way about Ulysses. It was damn near perfect in like 2016-18 and feature creep has slowly made it worse while providing little additional value for my purposes.
