@nprofile…wwlr You should update the firmware on your #framework laptops. At least when you first get them, a bit after new ones come out, and maybe a bit before your warranty is up. Probably after that too.

@nprofile…jydu Thanks for all the research on this. I haven't done multi-seat stuff since before Xorg (XFree86). Now I want to again! My use case would be one small level up thought....
I use Deskflow (in the line of synergy/input leap/barrier/etc.) to use one set of inputs across a couple local devices, including sometimes ones that are also in use with their own devices. What would be amazing is if those could fire up a new seat on the remote devices instead of hijacking the existing local inputs.

@nprofile…jsss @nprofile…9uuc @nprofile…t0lt @nprofile…dygl I saw (and packaged) the 2.0 release of himalaya recently and left myself a tab open to review whether it is turning into slop too. Mind you I don't know that it is, I was just a bit suspicious of the size of the realease and some holes in the story for removed features. Did you put it though the paces yet?

@nprofile…fr02 I have a #framework 13

@nprofile…t0lt @nprofile…dygl My usual sarcasm aside, I've been messing with this one and I think I would actively recommend **AGAINST** using it or promoting it.
This is AI slop with a note of danger. The OP building it doesn't understand the Git reflog very well and isn't competent to notice when the AI generated code and documentation doesn't match. The UI and most of the actions are reasonable enough, but with easy recovery of states it also make it easy to LOOSE states.

@nprofile…lel8 From the earliest invention of the concept of Hypertext to now is about 90 years.
From the known widespread use of Cuneiform on clay tablets to the invention of Hypertext is at least 5200 years, possibly much longer to earliest invention.

@nprofile…p4a7 Sure. I've used it from git hooks for the last 5 years. That was the initial use case I conceived it for.
Depending on what workflows you use you might want to consider hooking in post-rewrite and/or post-merge in addition to post-checkout.

@nprofile…p4a7 If you want the local file system assets to have timestamps matching the last #vcs modification, then yes of course.
The GH repo works as a #Nix flake:
nix run github:alerque/git-warp-time
The version in #nixpkgs isn't 1-point-0 yet but as I said there are no major changes with that release. The 0.8.x series works just fine too ;-)

2025-12-27 19:39:27 UTC

I finally got annoyed enough with the #zerover limbo that I slapped on a v1.0.0 tag and switched to #semver for my #git utility that sets filesystem modification timestamps to the last commit that touched each file in a repository:
https://github.com/alerque/git-warp-time
No big changes, just an indication that the tool works and there is no need on the horizon to shake it up.
If you use a build system like #make that reacts to timestamps and are tired of wasted builds jump in; the water is clear of sharks.

@nprofile…4t4s This is a terrible rant with little sound reasoning. You don't have to like modal editors (many people don't) but dismissing them without even touching on the main reasons for their existence is silly. Accusing Lua of having too much syntax is silly. Letting LLM agents run wild but sandboxing plugins is nonsense. Disqualifying Rust because you don't like the syntax is silly—not if you want to write your own editor but if you want to say what makes a good editor that's just orthagonal.

Has anybody tried combining #gitannex with #paperless ngx? I use the former extensively for other purposes, but want some additional tooling to layer with it.
I have a genre of paper documents that I have had locked up in a proprietary app. I thought my use case was going to be short lived and at the time the tooling for managing scans was far superior in the free tier of a commercial solution, but I've definitely outgrown it and want to get this genre of my data under my own control again.

@nprofile…ss2n yes to dovecot. You'll need a cert for the domain the IMAP is reachable on to make client setup sane. Also pick your user authentication well because there are a plethora of methods but it isn't that easy to change later and managing users is be far the most hassle in self hosting even if it is for a handful of family members.

@nprofile…ssyg it is amusing and the test itself does help deflate hype. My comment was that the overwhelmingly positive way you talk about even obvious fails means for me it is *your* hype that gets deflated. I do appreciate the same tests across models and time since everybody else just posts random "wins" even if they took 100 false tries to get them.

@nprofile…ssyg every time I see this test and overly positive evaluations of it it, everything else you say takes on a little less meaning. This is not a "pretty solid SVG" of anything.

You've got to love it when somebody tries to correct your grammar by citing a Google search. The search in question shows an AI generated "answer" that cites an unrelated part of a website as a reference, but the actual title of the cited website refutes the so-called answer.

@nprofile…7ur2 This is rubbish logic. Gender as an alias for specifically human sexuality is absolutely a binary, and manliness as an adjective can have degrees. You could even have a manly woman as a reference to some attribute typically associated with men. She would still be a woman because that is a binary type not a spectrum.
In programming terms integers can be sorted and ranked, and strings can be sorted and ranked, but as far as types go they are still one or the other, never both or between.

I think it was `feh` that I got to do this too, but I can't remember if it was out of the box or scipting it to foo. I sometimes use `magick` to preprocess a batch of images to a specific crop location for more robust previewing (and diffing) options.
