Now for a cup of herbal tea, a drama I can watch without troubleshooting the streaming service for, and snuggles with Hector.

most people I see who wear masks when sick or when they don't want to get sick are using surgical masks. I still use a respirator type mask when out (I have lung issues already), but I rarely see other people in them.
And that is IF they feel they have a reason to be safe. Even that is rare.

I wasn't expecting to find hope and moral compass direction from a Korean pop group and a European football association, but here we are.

Baby Hector is glad I am home this morning so he stays close. Not too close, because he thinks he's not a baby anymore. But close, because really he is.

oh exciting! Is someone them hiring you to learn more about this area for educational purposes? Here in Canada we usually only get archaeology if someone wants to build somewhere, or someone digs up a skull in the garden. Sometimes it happens for better reasons.

we get that here, but it is also blazingly obvious that developers have a say. So detached homes are it because they are more profitable. And even if we build more of them there never seems to be more affordability.

One of the things I love about this drama is that we have a fierce af lead woman. She is in charge. She gets shit done. She is head of household. She is the breadwinner. She can get an entire fucking army out of a mess.
And she isn't shown as a scold, or a nag, or unfeminine, or any of the misogynistic stuff we usually see in a stromg female lead.
She just... kicks ass.
It is amazing.

where I am in Canada we have several theatres nearby, but the cost makes it unappealing especially if you aren't sure how good a movie will be. Hilariously, the website won't give me current prices unless I hand over my info first, but last time we went it was $40 for two of us to walk in the door. Or I can wait a few months, and rent it online for much cheaper (if not already included in a service I am paying for).

Weird question, but my searches are coming up empty online... is there an alternative to Polident foaming cleanser that is NOT mint? I got a new nightguard and got told no toothpaste, no soaking, use this foam. But I have an incredibly strong aversion to mint dental products, to the point where just using the foam on the nightguard has made me incredibly nauseus. As far as I can tell no one else makes this foaming product. I am planning on calling the dentist once they open, but just in case there is a product I am missing and the dentist doubles down on the Polident I thought I would try.
Also open to hashtag suggestions to get this request to more eyeballs.

ad a Canadian, our English pronunciation and spelling is so mixed up between US and British we will never get it right to anyone else's idea of correct. Even thinking about this now I couldn't tell you how I pronounce either of these words, and if it's British, American, or even both.

I was born on the winter solstice (Northern hemisphere), and I don't usually think about the summer one. But facing down some of the hottest temperatures I have seen in my life starting tomorrow, it's on my mind. I have been out in -35C feels like -50C, but looking at +35C feels like +41C seems a lot worse. I am not looking forward to next week.

My stove, however, is F. 😁

Toby knows he isn't supposed to be on the table. He also knows it is really tough to get angry at a 14-year old cat with diabetes, pancreatitis, IBS, bad knees, and arthritis who has somehow managed to get himself onto the table. And he is going to run with that, damn it.

Brains are dumb. I have a phobia of needles, but I was fine giving Toby insulin through the pen-like device that we had for a long time. Insulin switch means we are now using needles, and after a tremendous effort I got the insulin into the needle... then had to hand it off to my partner to do the actual injection because I couldn't manage more. I am hoping I can desensitise myself in case I have to take it on at some point. The things we do for our cats. #CatsOfMastodon

I have been learning Korean for fun, because 2024 has been terrible and this gives me something positive to focus on.
I have been struggling with writing the characters though. My handwriting in English is godawful, it is godawful in Dutch, and so I figured it was also just godawful with Hangeul.
Today I got a new fountain pen and suddenly writing the characters is SO MUCH better. Almost immediately. They are way more legible to me.
Maybe my other handwriting is bad because I still haven't found the right pen for it yet? Gives me a good excuse to expand my collection I guess. 😇
