I'm on an absolute HIGH because one of my personal heroes in marketing released a book this week and she chose to include me in her acknowledgements.

What's the most popular sport in your #FantasyFiction ?
In the magical realms of the Dragon Isles they play Throwing Stars, a combat juggling game that attempts to put illusions of constellations over the playing fields.
In Kirtin, the realm of lake and sky, they play something similar to Buzkashi with their animal companions running the ball rather than the people.
While in the Western Wildes from the Ferments to Bell'an'Faire they play townball over acres.

It's wild to think that this tale of woe is about to end

Your campaign one-sheets should include a list of media inspirations for the style and tone expected at the table.

Since my medical incident I haven't written fiction.
Time to fix that.
I think it has to be set in The Ferments. Yes, it's a land of environmental disaster but I want to play with hope. Maybe something about a goblin and a goliath out in the West Thundermoon Mountains.

One of the challenges of the main #DnD campaign right now is that we came into it knowing that we would fail -- we aren't the heroes that stop the apocalypse, we're heroes that planted the seeds of recovery.
How do we maintain motivation as players when our beloved characters will certainly perish? How do our characters maintain motivation as the odds are insurmountable?
Yesterday we were in a battle involving multiple elder dragons, a lich's simulacrum, and army of minions - we'll win.

Part of today's D&D preparation is learning what Xabal can do now that they levelled up.
Now an 11th level artificer they get a spell storing item, which will either be scorching ray, caustic brew or shatter.
Xabal will also get to learn some new spells.
Players should prepare for sessions just like DMs do -- spend the time to understand your abilities, motivations, the party and the plot.

This update is going to be tricky. The Remarkable Drudge for 5e #DnD made a slightly magical background.
Now, that's not as interesting in 5.5 or ToV.
But magical laborer still serves a purpose in worlds of wide magic. How do I adjust this to make a common laborer magical without making them a mage?

How would you create assisted-parkour in a 5.5e #DnD Feat?
I'm thinking something like;
When using a staff, club, spear or polearm and using the Dash Action your movement isn't reduced by non-magical difficult terrain, you can move up to 1/2 your movement along a vertical surface such as a wall and your jump distance increases by your proficiency bonus.

2026-10-04 23:32:02 UTC

@nprofile…a0k9 the new onside kick rule is silly, right?

2026-10-04 18:27:05 UTC

A thing I noticed recently.
Original reporting said that the Forgotten Realms D&D show at Netflix was dead because of scripting. This goes unattributed and is in the story that clearly comes from Hasbro's PR about the August Strahd show.
But, a few weeks later we learn that Shawn Levy left Netflix.
If I'm Hasbro I want Levy connected more than I want Netflix connected, because Levy's involvement with Stranger Things.
Cancelled at Netflix doesn't mean cancelled overall, maybe

I'm so compelled, pulled maybe, by the sight of a full moon in a sky with a few clouds.
You stare at that glow through a small shroud and understand that magic is real.
It offers just enough light to not get lost, light enough to give you hope. But it's still dark.
You're aware of a world where safety isn't common enough. Those nights with بدر are nights where you have a friend in the sky.
Those are the nights when you want your friends near you to share a tale of myth and reality.

2026-09-26 22:48:52 UTC

I was in a chat about how fantasy #TTRPG treat rituals by rule and realized it was actually a conversation about the feel of the setting, not the rules.
Defining the experience around rituals, long magic and cantrips defines how the setting works.
And that's key when designing a world.

Today's #DnD session was all about scheming.
We used many, many downtime mechanics to set a trap for our primary enemy -- baiting his dragon allies away and using ourselves as the bait to attract him.
Nearly two weeks passed in game. It was a three hour session of plot, planning and scheme.
It was the fourth pillar of the game.

Directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein say rights holder Hasbro remains determined to find a new studio home for “Dungeons & Dragons 2.”
OH!
“Yeah, absolutely,” Goldstein told DeAngelo when asked whether anyone was still trying to make the economics work. “I think Hasbro is a big believer in it, and if they can figure out a studio partner to make it work, they’ll want to proceed. As are our producers.”

Prepping for a #DnD session after a month off
This is the campaign with Xabal, the goblin artificer. We're able to expand our bastion with the down time. I think their workshop needs to include an arcane study. One of the long term goals for Xabal is to help establish the shift from artificer as a magic to artificer as smog-tek.
I want them to build a tar tree powered "carpet of flying" with a few suspension balloons, pedi props for movement and a skywrite launcher for ground comms.
