Bit of a shocker today. Had to put some fuel in the car, only had £20, and it barely touched the sides.
That's because it was £1.98 a litre for E5 (classic car means E5 is the better option than E10, especially with my mileage).
For my American viewers, that's the equivalent of $10.04 USD per US gallon.
The fuel station was also totally out of diesel. I wonder how long it'll be before we start seeing a rise in bilking and fuel theft from parking places.

Really enjoyed my drive home from the shop with drug dealer spec Mercedes trying to climb in my boot, and Anna Wintour looking numpties completely oblivious to a bright pink car just, you know, pulling out in front of me.
Maidstone drivers are some of the worst I've ever encountered.

If you have one of those little portable AC units (which is the usual option here in the UK), don't forget they do generate water.
Instead of just letting that water drain away, capture it in a bucket and use it to refill your garden water butts.
We've got plenty of water for the garden and don't need to use the hosepipe, handy now there's a hosepipe ban in place.
I don't know, is this a solarpunk sort of thing? Or a life hack? It feels like good advice to share at any rate.

@nprofile…z8kt I'd interpret that as pastels, muted neutrals, and patterns that aren't too busy or bold for the colour choices. Closed-toe shoes and necklines that don't plunge, covered shoulders.
The sort of thing that's fine in an office setting, but a bit more casual and self-expressive.
A bold statement bracelet or necklace can be a good way to inject some personality so you don't feel like you're in Wedding Uniform.

@nprofile…mfaa Use dry kitchen paper towel to soak up as much of the moisture as you can first, then use a spray bottle with your preferred soap solution to soak the stained or otherwise affected areas. Soak up moisture with paper towel again and repeat until satisfactory. Ideally hang over a radiator to dry slowly or, if the structure might warp, on a fabric towel on a flat surface, with another fabric towel and a weight inside to keep the shape.
Repeat as necessary.

@nprofile…0lj9 Me trusting that the oversize nature of the pattern would make sense when it went together. Things like the sleeve cap shaping is done over such a long section that it throws all the proportions off. This is also supposed to be for a 36-7" chest, I'm a 40"... now I know how it's wrong, I can at least correct it and annotate my pattern accordingly.
pre-AI pattern too, so it's not even like I can blame the slop generator for this.

2025-11-14 12:00:49 UTC

This pattern has made up very weirdly. The sleeves are far too long, but the body and armholes are actually about right for length. The collar is also perfectly fine, but the body is massively too wide.
I've done my measurements, figured out what I need to change, and now I get to frog it all and start again, from scratch.

@nprofile…dvk7 turning them inside out, putting them on, and pinning to the shape that *feels* comfortable rather than looks right is a great learning tool and totally non-permanent. Start with cheap things like worn out shirts and tops you might already have in your wardrobe to build confidence. If you like the adjustment, sew it and turn it the right way out to see. If you're happy, trim off the excess material, bind your edges in your preferred way to prevent fraying and you're done.

I don't have difficulty getting rid of things because I'm a hoarder, it's because I've lived in scarcity a lot of my life and know the very real expense of having to replace things I could have just held on to.
The flip side of hoarding, where you have the mindset to discard everything not of immediate use, doesn't seem to be demonised anywhere near as much.
Minimalism is the luxury of a post-scarcity life experience.
Hoarding is the defence mechanism of poverty.

Every year I create a hearse picture, usually in October, and for 2024 I opted to go for the Volvo PV61. Various coachbuilders provided the rear body and trim, while Volvo would supply a commercial rolling chassis and front sheet metal that was shared with the PV60 car. Hints of Pontiac are present, showing the influence America had on so many manufacturers at the time.

@npub1j0v…d9dx Probably in the realm of things like grated beetroot and grated carrot with lovely seeds like pumpkin and sunflower mixed in then, I imagine. Is it all leafy greens that are unsuitable?

@npub1j0v…d9dx How are you with spinach? I substitute lettuce for baby spinach a lot of the time since I can't always get through a lettuce before it spoils, whereas spinach kind of goes in everything.

I don't think today's job interview went that well. Everything just felt clumsy and off. I'll find out in two weeks either way.
In the meantime, I am open for commission work and would definitely welcome some!
Drop me a message and/or skip on over to https://www.angyl.co.uk for more info on that.

@npub1nxu…4hun I'd got with a rich metallic that contrasts with the skin tone to really make it the focal point.
