100% agree. I may be the only Indian in the world who hates cricket :-) Hate golf too.
Any sport that takes more than 2 hours bores me. Same with rounders or as you call it baseball.

This is why American handball is so awful to watch. A typical game lasts 3 hours including the pre/post match discussion. Along with millions of ads breaks and stoppages to swap offence and defense - the actual play time for an American handball match is just 11 minutes and in that time it is kicked about half a dozen times.

After all the chat with @npub1fmx…wp74 and @npub1rcn…dw4h about micropayments 2.0 using X.402 and Agentic AI. This article is worth a read.

no new namespace. Podcast 3.0 is not a new namespace but a marketing place holder.

4/4
Podcasting 2.0 would be focused on BASIC building blocks - person, transcript, chapters, location, guid, alt enclosure etc.
Podcasting 3.0 would focus on the MONETISATION tags - funding, value, vts, premium content etc
Podcasting 4.0 would focus on DISCOVERY tags - playlists, podrolls, publisher feeds and network feeds etc.
This is just an idea to see how we can help podcast creators better understand all of the podcasting tags without overwhelming them.
I'd love people's thoughts.

1/2 - Podcast Marketing
Podcasting 1.0 was invented by Adam Curry. It remained stagnant for many years until @npub1fmx…wp74 (Curry) & @npub1rcn…dw4h (Jones) introduced the new Podcasting 2.0 namespace and over the past 5 years, this group created the 28+ tags/features.
The success of Podcasting 2.0 can be measured by the adoption of the namespace. e.g Apple, Spotify, Amazon and a plethora of hosts/apps.
However the people not adopting Podcasting 2.0 (tags) are the podcast creators and I think I know why.

@npub1fmx…wp74 @npub1rcn…dw4h we have a BIG support button on every podcast page. If the RSS feed has an external link, then the button goes there. However if a podcast doesn't have the funding tag in the feed then we automatically turn on the funding tag with the option to donate in TrueFans.

2026-07-04 21:48:22 UTC

On June 30, 2026, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase, BlackRock, Standard Chartered, Google, Shopify, and more than 140 other companies have signed on to Open USD, a new US dollar-backed stablecoin initiative operated by Open Standard.
The project is designed for powering global money movement and is expected to go live later in 2026.
The initiative is led by Zach Abrams, the cofounder of Bridge, which was acquired by Stripe in late 2024.

On next weeks Podnews Weekly our special guest will be [@ryanwi](https://hachyderm.io/@ryanwi ) from Car Curios.
Ryan has proposed a new podcast annotation format which I liken to Apple’s proprietary ‘Timed Links.’
Should Podcasting 2.0 adopt this format?

I agree the games so far have been good. The most viewed World Cup of all time. But ask anyone outside of the US and those hydration breaks suck.
Anyway England are doing well but not favourites to win. My money is still on France

3/5 - Frustrated
Unfortunately, I missed my favourite show live. Instead I listened to the recording and just screamed at my phone as I heard them discuss the idea and then talk about how to share data by reinventing the wheel.
TrueFans already measures every listener's activity - play, follow, share etc.
We use a W3C standard called ActivityStreams which is structured XML data
We show this in the users profile. The users can hide this or choose what activity verbs they want public.

@npub13cg…ck4q wrote in Podnews Daily about how to use the RSS AutoDiscovery tag from the original RSS 2.0 spec.
RSS autodiscovery is a technique that allows web browsers and feed readers to automatically detect a website's RSS or Atom feed.
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Your Site Name" href="https://example.com">
We added them to all TrueFans podcast pages. But how do we know if they are working?
There is no RSS icon in the address bar? What am I doing wrong?
