Really thrilled to just notice that my Sony AV Receiver has been reporting in regularly to Google with usage data and whatnot with no way to opt out and no clear user consent.
Google: is it really fucking necessary to profile the shit out of everything via every scummy way you can conceive of? It’s not like you’re serving useful ads to me anyway.

How do I opt out of brokers blaming AI for the bad decisions they're solely responsible for in the next crash?

I usually setup ZBM and zectl for Proxmox. Wrote a feature request for formal integration and they’ve ignored it.

Consumer drives all seem to have bugs. It’s rare that we hear about them because the manufacturers do not want any kind of recall. There’s a whole subculture for folks who care about drive firmware.

[@siracusa](https://mastodon.social/@siracusa ) Your Samsung SSD choice for the Photos library confuses me. Why not just let the library live on your NAS at that point instead of relying on that sketchy USB-C/Thunderbolt connector and a Samsung drive that surely will have data-loss firmware bugs but no firmware updater for macOS?

Not sure why they’re blaming AI here. It’s because Google was using this data to profile Amazon customers for free and Amazon wants to be paid.

“Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” is totally unhinged.
At no point was it clear what was coming next.

The best move Anthropic could make now is to rapidly pivot Claude Code to open source and start accepting patches. Embrace your mistakes.

Apple News+ editors:
"Colorful toy bricks" are LEGO. It is never LEGOS; the plural is LEGO.
Of all companies to get a trademark wrong, I'm shook. I'm also surprised that nobody even checked with an LLM -- the ones I tested all got this right.

Just wrote a note to Scott Wiener asking him to fix AB-1043, the “operating systems must collect user age data” mess.

I get that OpenAI fraudulently pledged to pre-buy a lot of DDR5 and HBM DRAM production. But why has an old 4TB SATA SSD model jumped from $271 to $900 in the last couple of months?

Dear services that refuse email addresses that have the name of the service in the address:
We domain owners do that because we do not trust you not to sell that address to others or otherwise use it inappropriately. Your algorithmic refusal of that address is sketchy af.

Perhaps just argument number like a regex? You’d still want to control some aspects like decimal places and leading zeros so using numbers might be tricky.

I’m generally thinking that text-based metaprogramming is outdated. constexpr should be able to do the job, especially since “#embed” in C++26.

Since reading patents is unnecessarily hard, how is what is described different from how AltiVec handles this by leaving the register state alone, disabling the unit, and only context switching the state if the thread that wakes the unit is different from the thread that slept it?

Elon Musk is a foreign agent and has broken laws while trying to exert influence over our election process.
The only correct response is to charge him, seize any US assets he has, and deport him.
