God this dart_eval stuff is exhausting. The compiler and runtime are works of art, but with so many holes due to almost non-existent usage. Looks like Every Door will be the first Flutter app ever to have proper programmable plugins.
4 packages wrapped, 7 to go. 100500 lines of code to be generated and reviewed. Hoping to have something by next week ugh.
Thanks for @nprofile…0rpy for supporting this, but I have absolutely miscalculated the effort lol.

@nprofile…xneg A tiny hint, you can do 1 and 2 at once by dragging the (+) button onto the map :)

I have published the alpha version for which you can build plugins! See the link and the documentation here: https://izv.ee/everydoor/plugins/
Made with @nprofile…zzgr support. People from the community (@nprofile…zggv) have already started poking at it:

Began the major restructuring of Every Door today. Read some articles on Riverpod-based architecture, sorted through constants, looked into modes, had some thoughts on generalizing those.
And started unifying all the maps in the app: I'll need them to be in a single place to be usable in plugins, and to introduce vector tiles later this year.
The code is such a mess. No wonder I didn't have many contributors.

Every Door 5.4 is on F-Droid and Google Play, preparing an iOS release right now.
Just some bugfixes, nothing much. I'd highlight new Hebrew and Tamil translations, as well as updates to Estonian and Thai. I'm happy people participate :)

Another long document ready: a plan for Every Door plugin architecture.
https://izv.ee/everydoor/api-plan
I remember how on a call with @nprofile…zzgr guys they asked, whether a "technical design" would be just some abstract texts and not include any actual work.
Four weeks later, and one document still to go, I must say, this has been, I believe, the most complex part of the entire endeavour. Not writing ED code, but researching, experimenting, benchmarking, to trim bad options from my future decisions.

I spent few hours hacking together a proof of concept authorization for @nprofile…palg using an existing OAuth2 access token from OpenStreetMap. Basically, I'm already logged in, so why should I log the second time in a Panoramax instance?
Partly solved the issue that @nprofile…nvne had, and circumvented by having a single user uploading everything, adding original authors to an Exif tag.

What issues with this solution can you spot?

Part 1.1.1 of the year-long plan to improve Every Door is complete! It's a super-long research on adding plugins to Flutter apps:
https://izv.ee/everydoor/flutter-plugins
The prototype demostrates how plugins will feel in Every Door later this year.
The next three steps are documenting expected use cases, API, and preset layering mechanism. Hopefully it would take less than two weeks.

Also today is the first day of Every Door module subsystem development, sponsored by @nprofile…zzgr .
Spent today mostly updating stuff and learning what's new in Riverpod (a state provider for Dart/Flutter). And also looked at some apps that have plugins, namely QField, JOSM, and NeoVim.
If you have any ideas to share, welcome to the discussion: https://github.com/Zverik/every_door/discussions/818
