I am nerd or geek, depending on your perspective. I do IT things, I do WordPress things, I do accessibility things. But on social media, I do snark things.

@nprofile…awd8 Here's why they don't do that. The person you were talking to knows what Voice Over is. The monkey in the warehouse doesn't. So before they can include instructions to turn VO on, they need to train their warehouse people on what Voice Over is, and why they might receive a request for that to be turned on. And then suddenly the warehouse monkey figures out that they deserve more than minimum wage for packing and shipping and now Apple has a problem.

@nprofile…g4vn HCaptcha is Mastodon's only CAPTCHA option, and that poses accessibility concerns. You may be inadvertently preventing users with some disabilities from signing up on your instance before they reach the pending approval stage.

@nprofile…g4vn It helps, though. Out of curiosity, what else are you using? I don't have that problem yet but it's a federated instance so I probably will.

@nprofile…g4vn Every country should move toward banning Twitter given its recent and intentional CSAM problem. Good on the UK for possibly being the first. As for your Mastodon instance, open registrations without approval should be discouraged anyway. That's the only antispam measure we've got.

Re last: If anyone asks you to do that regarding your alovertheplace.ca account, talk to me. I will nuke them and their instance from orbit.

@nprofile…kx0x True. And it's not my problem that he's not giving me a reason to spend ore. AI is not a reason to spend more, especially when it's being put in everything these days. I mean, it's in your cell phone. Your laptop/desktop. Your operating system. Hell in 5 years it'll probably be in your microwave. Enough already.

@nprofile…kx0x New features is one thing. What I'm not paying for is the AI I'm not going to use. I mean, I get that the developer's paying to use the AI they're putting in that app and that's valid. But their choices aren't my responsibility. And if the only new feature people are mad about is the AI, they already have access to it. It's called GPT.

@nprofile…0s32 If you don't see a "sign button" and do see an "add signature" button, then that's probably what you need to use. I haven't used it for anything in quite a bit so they may have changed the interface some. Because I haven't used it in quite a bit, we're about at the limit of what I can help you with.

@nprofile…0s32 DocuSign makes no modifications to your PDF, other than to digitally sign it. So if the PDF isn't accessible going in, it won't be accessible coming out.

@nprofile…0s32 I think, and it's been awhile since I've used the site, as long as you can still press the "sign" button it should plop your signature in the next available area.

@nprofile…0s32 I haven't seen that issue so I'm not sure. Check your account settings, though, as since you're the one who uploaded the PDF the types of allowed signatures are determined by your account. If you didn't create an account... you should probably do that.

@nprofile…0s32 The signature is digitally verified, and is as legally binding as a handwritten one. I've signed employment contracts that way. Someone signs a document pretending to be you, that'll be fraud.

Welp. I turned on the debate with intent to watch it while I worked. And I turned it off within 15 minutes. I liked it better when the Conservative candidates weren't showing up. Fucking Pierre, I tell ya. Watching the hockey game instead. #CDnpoli

Domain to watch: fediversechick.lol
It's currently hosting a GTS instance with a single solitary account on it (guess who's account). The thing was registered in March, but to my knowledge hasn't actually been throwing out the usual DM's. It may be an innocent site, but if your instance is proan to a lot of DM's from her you may want to consider a block to be safe. Mine doesn't get too much of her attention but some of the larger ones are definitely ones she's a fan of.

Hey cool. So the city of #Ottawa's solution to their job application platform throwing a wabbly yesterday was apparently to nuke anything entered yesterday and start from scratch. Either that or their job application platform's wabbly included not actually saving anything I entered yesterday. Fortunately reentering my info manually did not result in a wabbly today. Unfortunately it did make me question my wisdom in wanting to work for the city of #Ottawa...

@nprofile…jpfa That's the one downside to a decentralized network. Because yes, I agree with you. But all I can do is suspend her from my instance and well... she ain't been here yet.
