Watched Jacob Coxon on the Daily Show, and he was much less of a dumbass than I expected.
He agreed that the incidents where LLMs "break containment" is entirely the fault of the companies doing a shit job of security when testing their mathy maths.
But he did repeat the claim that the models "worked together," so I showed my wife this video to give an idea of what LLMs working together looks like:

Good stuff, but Racter was released in 1984, and of course Adventure in 1976 and Eliza in 1964...

I groan every time I see unsuprevised automated captions or machine translation. They're simply not ready for prime time.
I know some Deaf people find them useful, so I understand the push to integrate them. But this should not be bundled with VLC; it should be an optional plugin, if it isn't already.

We've known for decades that machine translation is far from adequate for any given task, and fails critically at times when people may need it most.
It is gradually improving over time, but we know that due to several inescapable facts about humans and society it will never provide the seamless experience we see on Star Trek.
Making people dependent on it is bound to lead to disaster.
So why do people keep pretending it's perfect, bundling it with everything and turning it on by default?
